I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 851: Chapter 850: Xiao Bei Is Back

Song Fanggang initially intended to accompany Beisitian to the medical team, but a last-minute meeting was called. Because Zhou Biwu had given specific instructions, he had planned to decline it.

”Go ahead with your meeting, Commander Song. I’m quite familiar with the medical team, we can go by ourselves,” Beisitian said with a smile.

The meeting wasn’t really that important, but Song Fanggang wasn’t sure if Beisitian’s words were related to some task, so he decided to agree.

He called his orderly, Captain Zhou Fa, to go along.

Beisitian wasn’t in a hurry. Walking down the road in the military area, she couldn’t help but reminisce about the past.

On the road, neat rows of soldiers marched past, with some civilian personnel also brushing by her, but no familiar faces were visible.

Soon, the group arrived at the entrance to the medical team. Beisitian stood at the entrance watching the flow of people; there seemed to be many more patients than before.

”Master got to know Third Brother here. I want to take some photos to show him,” Tian Zhi said with a smile.

Beisitian smiled slightly, ”He also met Jiali here.”

Tian Lei and Luo Jiali are already married, and Luo Jiali is pregnant now.

Originally, the Luo Family opposed Luo Jiali being with Tian Lei, but later, after learning about the Tian Family’s relationship with Beisitian and Qingyu, they not only ceased their opposition but were quite supportive.

Although their intentions weren’t entirely pure, it led to the two eventually getting together.

Tian Zhi started taking photos outside and would take some inside later as well. Beisitian entered inside with Wei Zhongxun and Zhou Fa.

”Take a number, everyone. One number per person, no sharing. After getting your number, sit over there and wait to be called,” the little nurse at the consultation desk instructed as she looked at the three entrants.

The little nurse was a new intern. It’s a tradition in the medical team for interns to start at this position, so the biggest officer she’s seen is Director Sun Wangcai, and she didn’t recognize Commander Song’s orderly captain.

Beisitian smiled. It used to be Taotao standing here; she wondered if Taotao was still around. Thinking about it, she asked, ”Is Taotao still here?”

The little nurse couldn’t take her eyes off Beisitian and Wei Zhongyuan—they were just too attractive!

Upon hearing Beisitian’s question, the nurse was momentarily stunned and replied slightly surprised, ”Are you looking for Sister Taotao? She’s off today.”

Beisitian shook her head with a smile, ”I’m not looking for her; I’m looking for Doctor Qi.”

The little nurse glanced at the third consulting room and then said, ”Both doctors on duty have patients right now. You’d better take a number, and when it’s your turn, you can negotiate to switch to Doctor Qi.”

Just as Zhou Fa was about to say something, Beisitian took the number from her hand with a smile, looked at Zhou Fa, and said, ”Let’s wait.”

She found this quite amusing, wondering who would call her number later. Hopefully, it wouldn’t be the chatterbox, Er Zhang.

There weren’t many people waiting because during the day, there are usually more doctors on duty. For now, they’re busy, but it usually quiets down after a while.

There were five people ahead of Beisitian, and since some of them needed tests, it quickly became her turn.

Her number was called by the third consulting room. Since she had a surgery number, and there weren’t many surgeons there, it meant it would likely be Qi Xiu Hui and Shen Junping inside.

Sure enough, upon entering, Shen Junping was looking at a patient’s chest X-ray, twisted around with his back to her, so he didn’t notice her coming in.

Qi Xiu Hui was the one who called her number, but she was busy writing something, just like her old habit of trying to finish her paperwork before the next patient came in.

”What’s the discomfort?” Qi Xiu Hui asked, writing rapidly without lifting her head.

Beisitian smiled at the familiar sight, knowing it was typical for her to only look up after the patient stated their discomfort.

”I’m feeling uneasy in my heart,” Beisitian said.

Qi Xiu Hui’s pen noticeably paused, uneasy in the heart?

”Maybe you should have a good cry,” Qi Xiu Hui replied instinctively, then raised her head and immediately widened her eyes.

Qi Xiu Hui hadn’t expected Beisitian to be there. The sudden appearance after six or seven years left her momentarily frozen.

Beisitian hadn’t anticipated such a response from Qi Xiu Hui. Seeing her expression, she realized it was instinctive rather than intentional humor, and couldn’t help but laugh.

”Dr. Qi, don’t you worry I’ll file a complaint about how you answer patients’ questions?” Beisitian joked.

Hearing this, Shen Junping came to his senses and turned to see who might complain. One look and he was also stunned into stillness.

”What? Don’t recognize me?” Beisitian asked with a smile.

Qi Xiu Hui placed both hands on the table, stood up rapidly, and stammered, ”You, you, you... you’re... Xiao Bei!”

Shen Junping also came to his senses, put down the film he was holding, stood up, and upon confirming it was really Beisitian, a look of surprise and delight appeared on his face.

”It’s truly Xiao Bei, you’re back?!” Shen Junping laughed heartily.

”Sister Qi, Brother Shen, long time no see,” Beisitian said with a smile.

That simple ’long time no see’ carried a multitude of emotions. This place marked the beginning of her understanding of the world.

Shen Junping laughed heartily, ”Indeed, it has been a long time. We never expected you’d return; we thought we’d never see you again this lifetime!”

Emotion welled in Qi Xiu Hui’s eyes. If not for Beisitian back then, her relations at the medical team wouldn’t have improved so much. Beisitian’s subtle influence gradually made her more outgoing, no longer ostracized by colleagues, and most importantly, the chatterbox, Er Zhang, didn’t dare provoke her anymore.

Qi Xiu Hui was truly delighted, seeing Beisitian left her speechless. She circled the table and reached out to embrace her.

Beisitian smiled knowingly, gently returning the hug to Qi Xiu Hui.

”Look at how emotional I am,” Qi Xiu Hui said, a bit embarrassed after letting go of Beisitian.

Shen Junping followed with a laugh, then asked, ”Xiao Bei, why did you suddenly come back? Could it be a work transfer?”

They had heard a big leader was visiting the troops but never connected this leader with Beisitian. Mainly, unless it was for a medical examination, the people coming really had little to do with the medical team; they didn’t need to put on any performances.

Before Beisitian could respond, a loud voice filled the room.

”Is it really Xiao Bei back?! My goodness, it truly is you, Xiao Bei!” Ma Xiuli appeared at the third consulting room’s door, just like she used to.

”Sister Xiuli,” Beisitian greeted with a smile.

Ma Xiuli laughed broadly, stepping forward to hug Beisitian, ”I’m so glad to see you again! You’ve become a mom too, right? My child is already five!”

Beisitian smiled subtly. Later on, she heard that Ma Xiuli ended up with Shen Junping, not letting his long wait be in vain.
