I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 877: Chapter 876: Using a Scheme

Luo Yirui heard Shi Guang’s words and helplessly lifted his little face to look at him, ”Brother Shiguang, if you want to be bait, will they even bother with you?”

Shi Guang: ”...”

Indeed, it was clear that these people were after Luo Yirui, so he could also guess why they wanted to lure him back from Ningjin County.

The reason for sending him there was to draw away Beisitian and Qingyu’s group of experts. Now that they called him back, it was likely to use him to lure out Luo Yirui, because these people clearly understood that in Beijing, it was impossible to directly kidnap Luo Yirui.

Especially in broad daylight, it was almost impossible, and during the time when Luo Yirui’s parents were not around, he should be just moving between two specific points, not going out to play, just to avoid giving others any chance.

Shi Guang was merely guessing wildly and wasn’t sure if he guessed right.

Although not completely accurate, he was close enough. Those people indeed realized they couldn’t directly kidnap Luo Yirui, not because he was moving openly between two points, but because they discovered there was a hidden force always protecting him.

Furthermore, Grandfather Wu Yuekai was guarding Beijing. With him here, who could kidnap someone without restraint?

And after these few days of observation, Wu Yuekai was the obvious protection, but there appeared to be more than one hidden force protecting Luo Yirui. They suspected one group was Qingyu’s hidden force, but the other group was unknown and left no trace.

Because of these factors, Beijing seemed impregnable to those people. Their only chance to kidnap Luo Yirui was to use Shi Guang to lure him to a sparsely populated area, knock him out, and then immediately leave Beijing!

What they didn’t expect was that little Luo Yirui was so capable, causing them to suffer such a loss!

Luo Yirui, seeing that Shi Guang was unwilling to cooperate with him, became anxious, while Shi Guang was also thinking of a solution. He couldn’t possibly leave Luo Yirui alone, even though he had just held off five people by himself. After all, he was just a child, with almost no protection at close range, and after just being exhausted, it was even more impossible to leave him alone.

”Let’s head to your grandfather’s place first, as you mentioned, and figure out a plan on the way,” Shi Guang said.

He didn’t really have a better plan. Avoidance was possible, but catching the opponent felt a bit challenging. He thought it was more important to escape the danger.

Luo Yirui suggested splitting up to let Shi Guang deliver a message ahead. Once those people entered the alley of the Red Painted Courtyard, they wouldn’t be able to escape!

But Shi Guang adamantly refused to leave, so Luo Yirui had to think of another way.

Suddenly, he remembered something his mother had told him, ”Show weakness to the enemy!”

Luo Yirui’s little brain spun wildly. In fact, he was already somewhat weak, so if he pretended more and let Brother Shiguang continue carrying him, would those people come again?

He didn’t know if they would take the bait, but it was worth a try anyway since he had to go to his grandfather’s place.

Luo Yirui informed Shi Guang, who agreed that it could work as well. The destination was the same, just at a slower pace.

Shi Guang picked up Luo Yirui once more, and the two slowly proceeded toward the Red Painted Courtyard.

They weren’t far from the Red Painted Courtyard, but they were not close either. Walking might take over twenty minutes or half an hour, especially weaving through alleys. Since they hadn’t reached the alley where the Red Painted Courtyard was located, they dared not venture into deserted places, so progress was even slower.

A big one carrying a small one, their steps, although not exactly faltering, were not very fast. This indeed gave the five people trailing them an impression that they were exhausted.

Luo Yirui lay on Shi Guang’s back, his little face still pale, needing no disguise. Those people, even if not real Mystic Doctors, could determine Luo Yirui’s current condition.

The tall skinny guy grimaced, anger showing in his eyes, especially as the itchiness had subsided, and the scratch marks on his neck and arms stung terribly.

”Oh my heavens, were you fighting with your wife? Hahaha, look at those scratches! Your wife must be formidable!” a vegetable-shopping auntie laughed at the tall skinny guy, teasing him as she walked by, turning back to glance at him twice.

The tall skinny guy was speechless. Just buy your groceries. Why needlessly chatter? And what’s with that look of praise on your face!

The tall skinny guy got even angrier, squinting his eyes through the crowd at the pair, who looked like they were at their wits’ end. The Shi family’s kid, although somewhat skillful, was defendable. Qingyu’s kid was a bit better, but look at him now, he couldn’t even walk by himself!

The higher-ups initially decided to hold off if the first attempt failed. But now that Luo Xudong and Beisitian were not in Beijing, and these two were full of flaws, the opportunity was right in front of him, so he planned to take a risk.

He instructed his people to closely monitor the surroundings. As long as the two forces didn’t show up, they would continue. The moment they sensed trouble, they would immediately retreat.

With this mindset, the tall skinny guy and the other four spread out, trailing the pair, ready to strike at the right moment.

The tall skinny guy remained quite cautious. Although Luo Yirui had demonstrated skills uncharacteristic for his age, which were quite surprising, his appearance was very deceptive. A five-year-old, at the end of the day, knows nothing. Even using a trick this nasty, he surely couldn’t follow up effectively.

The tall skinny guy found it hard to take Luo Yirui seriously, seeing that the kid, using a fighting talisman, only released some harmless Xuan Talisman, proving he was just a child.

Shi Guang’s pace varied between fast and slow, always choosing crowded paths. Under Luo Yirui’s guidance, they took more than half an hour to reach the area near the Red Painted Courtyard.

By now, Luo Yirui was mostly recovered, his complexion normal, but those people had preconceived notions. Moreover, they hadn’t ever seen such quick recovery, so they paid no heed and only focused on the surroundings.

Shi Guang stood at the alley entrance, pretending to stop and look around, of course finding no one, and then he dashed into the alley, suddenly quickening his pace.

Seeing this, the tall skinny guy knew their chance had come. If they blocked them in the alley, given their current strength, they couldn’t possibly resist the five of them. Then they could knock them out and take them away to exact revenge for today!

The tall skinny guy wasn’t very familiar with this area. For them, Beijing was not too familiar either. They thought capturing a child wouldn’t be too difficult.

Because of unfamiliarity with the terrain, the tall skinny guy dared not act rashly. However, seeing how quiet the alley was, walking for about ten minutes without seeing anyone, he became eager.

”Watch for the opportunity, get ready to act!”
