I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 878: Chapter 877: Took the Bait

Shi Guang kept an eye on his surroundings. He noticed that this alley was quite tranquil, completely different from the one near Auntie’s house. Occasionally, someone would walk by, but their eyes were sharp and penetrating.

If it were just one person, it wouldn’t matter, but there were several like this. They didn’t seem like ordinary residents!

Shi Guang remembered that little Luo Yirui intentionally showed weakness to lure these people here. Surely, there must be forces here to protect him. Now it seems his guess was right.

Initially, Shi Guang was somewhat anxious. These people seemed to be skilled, likely part of a security team protecting some important figure. Wouldn’t he risk getting hurt by rushing in here so recklessly?

Soon, he felt Luo Yirui on his back relax after seeing these people, and he knew everything was fine.

Shi Guang was exhausted, even though he hadn’t exerted much physically. The mental strain was immense. Knowing they were safe, he began to show signs of breaking down.

The tall, thin man had been thinking of a way to keep an eye on this big guy and the little one. Seeing Shi Guang slow down, with hardly anyone around, he couldn’t resist making a move. He signaled the other four to close in and gradually surround them.

This time, they wouldn’t let them escape. The other side needed Luo Yirui alive, and the large bounty was enough for them to live well for a year or two.

Shi Guang, carrying Luo Yirui, finally reached his limit. He had carried Luo Yirui for over twenty minutes, and any stamina has its limits. He had to stop and rest for a moment.

He put Luo Yirui down. Luo Yirui had already recovered, but those people hadn’t taken the bait. So he leaned against the alley wall, his head lowered, slumped shoulders, giving off an impression of being frail and sickly.

At this point, there was basically no danger. He and his sisters came here every week, and the undercover uncles here knew them. If anyone tried to harm them, they would definitely intervene.

But now, Luo Yirui’s goal wasn’t just to ensure safety but also to lure those people into a trap so the undercover uncles would have a reason to act!

This isn’t that place after all. Here, you can take down suspicious people first and interrogate them later.

”Are you alright?” Shi Guang bent slightly to ask Luo Yirui, not realizing how quickly Luo Yirui could recover.

Luo Yirui shook his head without saying much, his head still lowered.

Seeing this, Shi Guang stood up straight, looked around, and seeing almost no one in the alley, he turned and asked, ”Is there a destination?”

Luo Yirui felt a twinge in his heart and instinctively wanted to look to the left but forced himself to stop. He lowered his voice and said, ”They’re coming.”

Shi Guang was stunned and just about to turn to look back when Luo Yirui added, ”Don’t turn around.”

No one had appeared yet, but Luo Yirui, for some reason, could almost hear their soft footsteps. All he knew was someone was coming, and they didn’t seem to be the undercover uncles.

Seeing three figures suddenly appear two meters away at the alley’s corner, Luo Yirui let out a sigh of relief—they finally took the bait!

At the same time, two more people appeared at the other end of the alley, five people in total, trapping the big guy and the little one in the alley, planning to catch them like turtles in a jar!

But who would end up as the turtle was another matter. Luo Yirui heard being the turtle wasn’t good and planned to leave that role to these people.

Then...

Luo Yirui suddenly raised his head. Just when Shi Guang thought he was about to deliver a fierce strike, Luo Yirui shouted, ”Help~~~!!”

Shi Guang took a step back in shock, looking at the now broken calm demeanor of the little brat. He was just starting to admire him—couldn’t he let him admire a bit longer...

The three closest people became grim after hearing the remarkably penetrating call. This was no sickly child, but someone brimming with vigor!

”Stop him from shouting!” The tall, thin man hurriedly waved his hand, about to lead his people to bind these two, but after taking two steps, realized no one was following him.

Turning his head, he saw that his two companions were standing there trembling, each with the cold barrel of a gun against their neck, and one was against his. Though a bit farther, the tall, thin man could sense that any more action would get him a hole over his heart!

”Hands up! Turn around and get against the wall, quick!” One of them barked, the muzzle subtly shaking to signal the tall, thin man to comply.

The tall, thin man, despite being a Mystic Doctor, couldn’t beat a gun. Where would he dare resist? He raised his hands and pressed against the wall, and someone immediately came over to search him, taking away all his pens and yellow paper.

Seeing them collected, it was clear these weren’t just any undercover officers. They obviously knew about his group.

With those things taken, the tall, thin man heard the distant sound of two thumps, needless to think, his other two companions had been subdued!

By now, he realized the big guy and the little one had brought them here for a reason; otherwise, how could there be such a coincidence with the undercover presence? Truly a shipwreck in the gutter.

Soon after, Li Xuejun arrived quickly from the other side. Luo Yirui’s eyes squinted like crescents upon seeing him, ”Uncle Li!”

Seeing Luo Yirui safe and sound, Li Xuejun let out a sigh of relief. He almost had a heart attack when he first got the news. Luckily, Zhou Quan showed up in time; otherwise, the old commander might have personally handled these guys privately.

Zhou Quan wasn’t exactly protecting these people either. He intended to use them to trace back to the source; otherwise, it would always be a worry.

Li Xuejun was briefed on the situation by Zhou Quan while retrieving Luo Yirui, so he knew these five were lured by Luo Yirui, hence his gaze filled with astonishment toward him.

In Li Xuejun’s eyes, Luo Yirui was still a child, and indeed, he was a small kid. When faced with five skilled attackers, he remained not only unflustered but also composed, even considering his two sisters and non-combatant grandparents by guiding the captors here.

You could say Luo Yirui accomplished what many adults couldn’t, leaving Li Xuejun both amazed and delighted. The old commander was probably grinning from ear to ear hearing this.

”Let’s go, youngster. If it weren’t for some restraint, your grandfather would have come himself,” Li Xuejun laughed.

Wu Yuekai insisted on coming over himself at first, but with suspicious individuals outside, they couldn’t allow the old commander to take risks, even minimal ones. It was reassuring just to pick up the child with Zhou Quan explaining the process.
