I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 868: Chapter 867: I Am Your Grandpa

The people in the back hadn’t reacted yet, but with tears in his eyes, Qi Xindao walked down the steps and came in front of Mrs. Qin, looking at her tearfully.

”Child, you’ve grown so much, do you still remember your grandpa? I am your grandpa!”

Mrs. Qin: ”...” I am your grandpa!

She looked at the old man bewildered, wondering who this nutcase was. It seems she should keep the door closed in the future!

The people who followed in saw Qi Xindao claiming Mrs. Qin as his granddaughter and were all dumbfounded. Looking again at Mrs. Qin’s face, which was already as black as the bottom of a pot, they hurried a few steps forward, fearing she would pick up a broom to hit someone.

”Senior, you’ve got it wrong, this lady is not your granddaughter!” Tian Zhi hastily stepped forward. Given Mrs. Qin’s temper, if she really started hitting people, who could say anything?

Qi Xindao was slightly stunned and looked at Mrs. Qin in confusion, asking, ”She’s not my granddaughter?”

Mrs. Qin: ”...”

Desan’s eyebrows twitched; Qi Xindao could joke with anyone, but not with Sister Qin. She’s not to be messed with!

”Old brother, don’t you have an idea of how old your granddaughter is? How are you being a grandpa?”

Qi Xindao wiped his tears and said to himself, ”I see, I thought she was just aging faster...”

Seeing Mrs. Qin suddenly tighten her grip on the broom, everyone quickly ushered Qi Xindao into the living room, thinking he shouldn’t be sent to the hospital before even entering the house!

Hawkeye’s people hadn’t come in, and their figures were nowhere to be seen now. However, they must be around somewhere, so everyone just ignored them and went into the yard.

When they came in, Qi Xiu Hui hadn’t arrived yet. It was said she went shopping for her family because after coming to Beijing once, it wouldn’t be right to leave empty-handed.

After waiting in the living room for about ten minutes, Qi Xiu Hui finally rushed in.

Honestly, Qi Xiu Hui didn’t really remember her grandpa, but when she saw Qi Xindao, there was a faint sense of familiarity, involuntarily bringing back some vague memories in her mind.

Like riding on an old man’s shoulders to an open-air snack shop at the corner to watch a movie, back then, movies were shown using projectors.

But that’s the only scene she could recall.

Qi Xindao was stunned to see Qi Xiu Hui. Although she looked quite different from the photo he held, there was still that familiar aura between her eyebrows that unmistakably told him this was his granddaughter!

”Huixixi?” Qi Xindao called tentatively.

Qi Xiu Hui seemed at a loss, instinctively glancing at Beisitian, who nodded with a smile. She then turned her head, but somehow, she still couldn’t manage to call out ”grandpa.”

Calling a stranger grandpa was difficult for Qi Xiu Hui with her introverted personality. Those images were just fragments of memory that didn’t foster a sense of connection.

At that moment, Qi Xindao’s tears flowed freely, ”Good child, finally seeing you again, Grandpa’s truly satisfied!”

Qi Xiu Hui was startled by those words. Just a moment ago, she couldn’t bring herself to say it, but now the word ”Grandpa” slipped out of her mouth, ”Grandpa, what’s wrong?”

Once said, it was said. Although she was timid and introverted, she wasn’t pretentious. Qi Xindao didn’t seem to have changed much since her childhood memories. Though the images lacked a sense of recognition, she knew this was her grandpa.

Desan felt reluctant to break the moment’s atmosphere, but he still couldn’t help but say, ”No big deal, your grandpa’s just going to jail!”

Qi Xindao almost choked on his breath, glaring hard at Desan for being so talkative!

Qi Xiu Hui froze and turned to ask Beisitian, ”Xiao Bei, what’s going on?”

Beisitian lamented Desan’s ability to stir trouble wherever he went and replied with a wry smile, ”It’s nothing serious, he isn’t going to jail, he’s just assisting in an investigation. You know your grandpa is quite a capable man.”

Qi Xiu Hui wasn’t going to stay in Beijing for long, so it was better not to let her worry too much. Besides, Beisitian wasn’t lying; Hawkeye didn’t take Qi Xindao away to imprison him.

Qi Xiu Hui trusted Beisitian, so she didn’t doubt his words, mainly because she knew her grandfather was not a simple man.

Qi Xiu Hui and Qi Xindao talked alone in the yard for a long time. Occasionally, Qi Xindao would wipe his tears, while Qi Xiu Hui remained relatively composed, but her face was filled with emotions.

What they talked about was unknown to everyone, and nobody would eavesdrop on this conversation. By the time it was past four in the afternoon, Hawkeye came.

Though they didn’t say it explicitly, it was clear to Qi Xindao that it was time to leave.

Qi Xindao felt reluctant to part, as he would soon be separated from his granddaughter after their brief reunion, which made him very sad.

”Tell your dad, I never blamed him, I blame myself,” Qi Xindao said while lowering his head. Without lifting it again, he turned and left with Hawkeye’s people.

Qi Xiu Hui stood stunned for a moment. The whole time they talked, she had subtly inclined towards her father, hoping her grandpa would forgive him. But as it turned out, grandpa never blamed her father.

Watching Qi Xindao’s weary figure recede, Qi Xiu Hui took a few steps forward and called out, ”Grandpa, when you have time, remember to come home and visit.”

Qi Xindao hesitated but continued walking away.

Out of Qi Xiu Hui’s sight, Qi Xindao’s tears had already flowed uncontrollably.

Qi Xiu Hui left the next day, eager to tell her father what grandpa said, so that her father’s burden could be lifted.

She felt grateful for this trip to Beijing, meeting her grandpa and resolving her father’s burden.

However, Beisitian and the others were not so cheerful. They brought Qi Xiu Hui in hopes of luring Qi Xindao out of the mountains.

Now that he had indeed come out, but was taken away by Hawkeye, how could they take him back from Hawkeye?

It had to be done openly and righteously; otherwise, things wouldn’t end well.

Among everyone present, few knew much about Hawkeye, except Desan and Qiao Hongjie, who had some dealings with them.

Qiao Hongjie, due to his years of ’illegal gatherings,’ frequently negotiated with Hawkeye’s people. Why Hawkeye turned a blind eye was part of the unspoken deal between Qiao Hongjie and Hawkeye that outsiders couldn’t question.

”These people are said to be Mystic Doctors, but what they’re more skilled at is not healing the sick, but killing, akin to a special government department, they’re incredibly skilled in using fighting talismans!”

Qiao Hongjie shared all he knew, ”There’s one thing worth mentioning: the reason those foreigners can’t get in is absolutely tied to Hawkeye!”

Everyone knew what he meant by ’those people’. The importance of Hawkeye to everyone exceeded everything else!
