I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 854: Chapter 853: A Request

Qi Xiu Hui learned about these things from her father, and her mood was very heavy. She really didn’t expect that such things had happened between her father and her grandparents.

Her father thought it was because her grandfather wanted to see her, but in fact, even if she went this time, she might not be able to see her grandfather. The people from the Military Department had the same thought; otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone to great lengths to find her.

She looked a lot like her grandmother, so she was very cherished from a young age. However, at that time, she was young, and many things had already become blurred.

The night Beisitian and others arrived, people from the army moved small stools to the training ground. Since it was summer, a stage was set up on the training ground for performances.

Most of the people from the art troupe were not well known to Beisitian, but there was one person she knew well.

Chai Xiaohu!

She thought Chai Xiaohu had already been transferred, but unexpectedly she was still here.

Chai Xiaohu was now the leading figure of the art troupe, a true leading figure. Although she was relatively older, the new cultural soldiers couldn’t compete with her, no matter how beautiful. They lacked the talent and the clear singing voice.

Chai Xiaohu never admitted her accomplishments. She always said to others, ”There are always higher mountains, and more capable people.”

There was always someone walking ahead of her!

The last time Beisitian attended such a performance, she sat among the military wives, far back with a poor angle.

But now, she was sitting in the front row!

The host gave a simple introduction, and then began to introduce the attending leaders. This performance itself was prepared for Beisitian and others.

This time, it wasn’t the host making the introductions but Song Fanggang personally. One reason was that Beisitian was an old acquaintance, closely connected with the old generals. Another reason was her special identity, which in some respects, might have even surpassed the status of the old generals.

Taking everything into account, Song Fanggang personally introduced her and the people from Qingyu, but of course, the introduction didn’t include sensitive words like Mystic Doctor or Qingyu.

It clearly stated how Beisitian was an ally of the Military Department.

It was an alliance, not a superior-subordinate relationship.

Being an ally meant she had that capability!

Over the seven or eight years, a lot of soldiers had retired, so many faces below were unfamiliar, not knowing Beisitian.

However, this didn’t prevent others from telling them. Some officers knew Beisitian and Luo Xudong.

They had thought that Luo Xudong’s rise was as swift as a rocket, but they didn’t expect that Commander Luo’s wife was also this capable, demanding such attention from the military, with a general personally calling in to instruct.

Some military wives still recognized Beisitian. They were stunned to hear Song Fanggang personally introduce Beisitian.

This Beisitian, was she the same Xiao Bei who was once Deputy Company Commander Luo’s wife?

It couldn’t be!

Many couldn’t imagine it, even though people from the medical team had already met Beisitian in advance, hearing Commander Song’s resounding voice was still somewhat unbelievable.

And what did Commander Song say, Commander Luo?

This meant that Luo Xudong, Xiao Bei’s husband, was now a commander?

How did it happen so fast?

Song Fanggang’s introductions left many in the audience, as well as backstage, dumbfounded.

Chai Xiaohu stood behind the backstage curtain, peering through a crack and staring blankly at Beisitian sitting there.

She actually came!

Chai Xiaohu felt a surge of emotions. She had always deeply wanted to see Beisitian again. Without her, how could there be the current Chai Xiaohu!

But now her identity had greatly changed. Would she still recognize her?

Chai Xiaohu felt a tinge of melancholy. If Beisitian forgot her, it would be understandable, but why did the thought make her feel a bit sad?

The performances by the art troupe remained excellent, with some innovations in the content. Because the male soldier performances were always very popular, this program was never removed.

Chai Xiaohu still stood backstage, absent-minded, a vague idea brewing in her mind, but she felt it might be too bold and somewhat shocking.

But if she missed this opportunity, there might never be another chance!

Chai Xiaohu clasped her hands tightly, hesitated for a moment, and then stepped forward.

Song Fanggang was sitting beside Beisitian, accompanying her while watching the performance, when he saw a graceful figure walking over.

He looked closely, realizing it was Chai Xiaohu from the art troupe. He quickly understood, Chai Xiaohu and Beisitian were old acquaintances, even having fought side by side.

As to whom they fought against, there’s no need to mention.

Reflecting on that spectacular performance, Song Fanggang felt as if it happened yesterday, leaving a deep impression.

Chai Xiaohu approached Beisitian, and though it was a bit presumptuous, she really had to...

”Xiao Bei, ah no, Bei, Bei...” Chai Xiaohu didn’t know how to address her. Beisitian was much younger than her, but much more capable and of higher status. How should she address her?

Beisitian smiled at Chai Xiaohu, ”Just call me Xiao Bei, it’s been a long time~”

Chai Xiaohu was surprised that Beisitian showed no airs at all, no sense of superiority, and felt dazed. If it were anyone else, even herself, they would have probably already been carried away with pride.

”Sit here.” Beisitian said.

Tian Zhi quickly made room for Chai Xiaohu.

The two of them talked softly for a few moments, and Chai Xiaohu mustered the courage to say, ”Xiao Bei, I have a request for you!”

Beisitian was slightly stunned, ”Go ahead.”

Chai Xiaohu clasped her hands tightly and said, ”Xiao Bei, can you accompany me one more time! This time, now, I am capable, and I’d like a match for your accompaniment!”

Over the years, if it wasn’t for that accompaniment back then, she would perhaps not have made such great progress. Some organizations wanted to transfer her, but the current one refused to let go of her, not even through connections.

Beisitian didn’t expect her to make such a request. Seeing this, Song Fanggang frowned and said, ”Xiao Chai, go back and prepare well for your performance. Doctor Bei’s identity is special; she can’t possibly accompany you!”

He usually thought of Xiao Chai as quite clever; why would she act foolishly at such a crucial moment? Even if the relationship had been good before, their identities and statuses are now worlds apart, leaving no room for further intersections.

To say it was a duet to strengthen relations might make sense, promoting ties between the Mystic Doctor and the military, but her accompanying the performance, what was that?

How could such a thing be agreed to!

”Sure, let’s collaborate once more. This time, give it everything you’ve got!” Beisitian said with a cheerful smile.

Song Fanggang: ”...”

Chai Xiaohu, on the other hand, was overjoyed.
