I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 872: Chapter 871: Words on the Wall

Before entering the boundaries of Ningjin County, Beisitian and others split up, entering in two groups and staying in different places, but not too far apart, to facilitate contact.

They all felt something was off this time. The Shi Family had disappeared here, indicating something must have happened, and now Shi Guang was also missing.

This left Beisitian and the others worried. Had Shi Guang discovered something and left on his own, or had he been abducted?

This is where the advantage of having power and an intelligence network comes in. Cheng Shuwei immediately utilized Hawkeye’s intelligence network to gather all of Shi Guang’s actions since entering Ningjin County.

Upon seeing this intelligence, Beisitian and the others realized Shi Guang had been busy these past couple of days, running around on his own to find clues.

From the report, they heard Shi Guang was very cautious. He knew those people might be lying in wait for him here, yet he had no choice but to come.

At that time, Shi Guang actually knew the main reason these people captured members of the Shi Family was because of the secret of the main family!

About the main family’s secret, it would only be passed to the heir. He was the heir of this generation of the Shi Family; if there was no next generation heir, he would have to take the secret to his grave.

So even with the closest aunt, he couldn’t say; it had nothing to do with trust.

The intelligence showed Shi Guang left the hotel around three in the morning, stole a motorcycle, and directly left Ningjin County. As for where he went, no one knew; his trail ended here.

Beisitian walked around the small inn. The room was quite simple and looked somewhat messy; the walls had traces of various colors everywhere. There was only a small room, the bathroom was communal downstairs, and they certainly didn’t have a kitchen.

Beisitian knew Shi Guang well; despite his sharp tongue and seeming difficult to deal with, he was smart and quick-witted. Seeing him leave with a backpack suggested he took his personal belongings, so he left quickly but not in a panic.

If that’s the case, he might have left some clues here.

Beisitian turned around; this room was so small it felt crowded with two people inside, not much to see. The inn’s boss lady, wearing a plaid skirt and red slippers, sized up the group.

”Who are you to the tenant?” The boss lady’s makeup was so thick it made her face look solid and powdery white.

Wei Zhongxun replied without turning, ”Friends, sort of.”

”Sort of?” The boss lady asked uncertainly.

Wei Zhongxun turned his head, ”What?”

Although the boss lady was nearly forty, seeing Wei Zhongxun’s handsome face made her eyes light up, staring unwaveringly; at this age, there’s no need for modesty.

Wei Zhongxun naturally felt her gaze, his eyebrows furrowing subtly, feeling nauseated.

”Friends,” Wei Zhongxun reiterated.

The boss lady immediately raised her eyebrows, grinning broadly, ”That’s good; you see that wall there, yes, right at the base – it’s been scratched up, you’ll have to pay for that!”

The wall was already quite dirty and rundown, so a little damage didn’t matter. But since these people looked wealthy, she wasn’t about to pass up the chance to extort some money; where else would extra cash come from?

Wei Zhongxun frowned, ”Whether or not he scratched the wall, even if he did, you should go after him, not us!”

The boss lady didn’t want to argue with a handsome man, but money is more practical than looks. She stood straight, hands on hips, ”I don’t care; you have to pay, or I’ll call the police!”

Wei Zhongxun didn’t want to argue with a woman, too embarrassing; he turned his head with a stern face, unwilling to engage further. He wasn’t going to pay, that’s for sure.

”Here’s your compensation.”

Wei Zhongxun: ”...”

He turned to see Beisitian already taking out money. Master, don’t embarrass me, alright? Good thing I only thought about it earlier, didn’t say it out loud.

”Boss lady, what did my friend write here?” Beisitian asked.

The boss lady was delighted to take a fifty, her attitude improved significantly. She looked at the scratched wall, shaking her head, ”I don’t know, but the wall wasn’t scratched by him... oh!”

In her excitement, she slipped, catching herself as she saw Wei Zhongxun’s amused gaze, ”Even if he didn’t scratch it, he definitely scribbled and drew on my wall; if afraid of being seen, don’t scribble indiscriminately – is this his wall?”

She thought if she showed enough authority, they’d back off, raising her voice slightly. Suddenly another fifty appeared before her eyes, her gaze following the note.

”Who scratched it? Tell me, and the fifty’s yours,” Beisitian smiled.

From the moment Beisitian handed over the money, Wei Zhongxun sensed something, so he didn’t bother arguing further.

The boss lady was overjoyed; a night’s stay costs twenty bucks, and within minutes, she’d earned a hundred. Of course, she’d tell Beisitian anything.

It turned out that on the morning after Shi Guang left, just about three hours later, someone came by, saying they lost something and were there to retrieve it, settling the room bill.

Suspicions aside, the boss lady was accommodated by the payment, giving them the key.

After the person left, during her room-cleaning routine, she found a large chunk of wall under the corner missing.

The spot was rather hidden; one wouldn’t see it without removing the bedding. Though greedy, the boss lady kept the sheets clean, as for the walls – nothing could be done. The guests were unruly, scrawling on walls; painting them wouldn’t help, and fines wouldn’t be paid.

Only because of this did the boss lady discover it, but she didn’t know what had been written.

Beisitian left the inn, just as Cheng Shuwei’s intel arrived, confirming someone had indeed visited that morning but concealed himself well, wearing a cap that concealed his face. There were no cameras around to check his identity.

One thing was certain: Shi Guang had been watched from the moment he arrived. But why had he left so hurriedly?
