I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 141: Chapter 140: He Can Feel It Now

Beisitian passed the silver needle over the fire, then immersed it in the enamel jar, where she had dissolved the talismanic water.

If this Xuan Talisman were directly used on the human body, it would burn a large area, just like Zhang Shungui’s shoulder that day. Now, she had transformed it into talismanic water, soaked the silver needle in it, intending to stimulate Luo Anguo’s leg.

This isn’t considered taking a risky move; it can only be said that Beisitian is not following conventional routes. If it works, Luo Anguo can stand up; if it doesn’t work, she plans to try other Xuan Talismans, since Luo Anguo’s leg is already this way.

Beisitian is not entirely randomly experimenting; she is doing this based on her extremely rich medical experience from her past life.

Beisitian inserted each silver needle into Luo Anguo’s acupuncture points. Due to Luo Anguo’s legs having no sensation, he wouldn’t know if he ’obtained Qi’. However, in the field of acupuncture, Beisitian is not a specialist, yet compared to ordinary doctors, her acupuncture level is at least equivalent to that of typical Imperial Physicians, although a far cry from a master’s level.

So even without a response from Luo Anguo, she could correctly insert the needles into the acupuncture points without deviation.

”Dad, once you feel aching, numbness, swelling, or heaviness, you must let me know.” Beisitian said while performing acupuncture.

Luo Anguo agreed, but inwardly he smiled wryly, as this wasn’t his first acupuncture session; if there were sensations, they’d probably have occurred already.

Even when the needles were removed, Luo Anguo didn’t feel anything, as he had anticipated, so he wasn’t disappointed. Instead, he feared that Beisitian would be disappointed in failing to heal him.

”Little Tian’er, actually there’s nothing bad about this.” Luo Anguo said.

Beisitian was slightly startled and looked up, ”Why speak like this suddenly?”

”No...not suddenly, just think that being cared for isn’t so bad.” Luo Anguo, evidently not skilled at lying, spoke insincerely, causing Mrs. Qin to purse her lips.

Smart like Beisitian, she knew what he was thinking and smiled, not explaining further. She wasn’t sure if this Xuan Talisman was effective or how long it would take to heal, so she kept her words minimal.

The acupuncture with the talismanic water flowed for seven consecutive days, during which Luo Anguo still felt nothing, prompting Beisitian to plan on using another method.

She had previously considered using another Xuan Talisman that produces a sensation akin to electricity for stimulation, though it’s tricky to handle; moreover, if used improperly, it could cause nerve damage, hence Beisitian refrained from starting with it.

However, only these two types of Xuan Talismans could be used for stimulation, leaving Beisitian no other options.

This method was one Beisitian believed could be effective, but due to the potential troubles it might cause, she applied it cautiously.

Having decided to use it, Beisitian prepared to bring forth her utmost concentration.

On the evening before acupuncture, Beisitian asked Luo Anping to write in the western room. She needed to be highly focused, and since Luo Anping was young and couldn’t control his emotions, any disruption would likely result in damage to Luo Anguo.

Beisitian inserted the newly soaked talismanic water needles into the acupuncture points. This time, she did not merely insert them, but continued to twist and occasionally lift and insert them.

This wasn’t due to her failing to ’obtain Qi’, rather she was assisting the talismanic water to maximize the stimulation.

Halfway through the acupuncture session, Beisitian’s forehead began to sweat. Mrs. Qin hurriedly picked up a nearby towel to gently wipe the sweat off.

After inserting all the needles, Beisitian leaned against the wall, closed her eyes, and though her breathing was steady, her face was somewhat pale.

The intense concentration at the moment left her slightly exhausted.

After twenty minutes, Beisitian removed the needles, gently lowered the trouser legs, and went to sleep. She slept until midday.

Mrs. Qin didn’t have the heart to wake her.

When she awakened, it was already past ten o’clock. After hurriedly freshening up, Beisitian began her calligraphy practice as usual.

In the evening, she resumed acupuncture, repeating this routine, ending in exhaustion each time the needles were removed.

After five days, Luo Anguo couldn’t bear it anymore and kept persuading her not to continue, saying his leg would remain as it is.

Beisitian smiled without responding, as this was certainly not the time to give up.

Due to continuous acupuncture, Beisitian’s complexion paled somewhat. During the day, she rested as much as possible to preserve her spirit, exerting all her focus during evening acupuncture sessions.

Right before acupuncture, Beisitian was resting with her eyes closed. After Mrs. Qin rolled up the loose trousers, Beisitian opened her eyes.

Mrs. Qin opened her mouth but ultimately shut it again.

Luo Anguo let out a sigh as he felt both warmth and distress from the child’s determination.

Beisitian twisted the needles into their respective points, each needle being rotated several times, with some lifted and inserted multiple times. Mrs. Qin continuously wiped her sweat silently, fearing to disturb her.

For Luo Anguo’s paralysis, there were more needles involved than for others; Beisitian had prepared a total of thirty-six needles, each needing precise placement in a point.

Beisitian instructed Mrs. Qin not to let sweat drip near the eyes.

Usually, by the eighteenth or nineteenth needle, Mrs. Qin’s hand was constantly wiping to keep up with the sweat.

Steam rose from the hot water on the cabinet, ready to replenish the lost fluids after Beisitian finished acupuncture.

By the thirtieth needle session, both Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo noticed that Beisitian was visibly fatigued, completely pushing herself to keep going.

The couple exchanged glances, perceiving the unease in each other’s eyes.

Luo Anguo pondered how he could convince Beisitian to cease, fearing it would exhaust her spirit!

Beisitian, being so young, mustn’t be allowed to deplete her spirit!

While he contemplated this, Luo Anguo suddenly exclaimed ”Ouch,” a pain striking his leg!

The east room had been very quiet; Luo Anguo’s sudden exclamation startled Mrs. Qin enough to shake the towel, luckily avoiding Beisitian’s eyes.

Holding the towel, she lifted her head, glaring at Luo Anguo, seemingly saying, ”Why are you shouting mindlessly; what if you disturb Little Tian’er!”

However, Mrs. Qin’s feelings were not conveyed to Luo Anguo, who stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

”It hurts...” Luo Anguo looked at the fine needles on his leg, some still gently vibrating.

Although his shout hadn’t caused Beisitian to react much, his declaration did.

”This one?” Beisitian asked without lifting her head.

”Yes...” Luo Anguo replied somewhat dazed.

Beisitian nodded, twisting the thirtieth needle repeatedly before moving on to the next.

From the thirtieth needle onward, each one brought Luo Anguo a sensation of pain, though he couldn’t precisely describe it beyond mere pain.
