I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Can’t Keep the Wife Much Longer

Since Beisisi is here, Du Chunmei must be here too. Didn’t they move to the city? Why are they appearing in Qingzhou Town again?

Beisitian saw Beisisi, and naturally, Beisisi also saw Beisitian. Her expression remained unchanged as she glanced at Beisitian and walked away alongside a man, as if she didn’t know her at all.

However, in that fleeting glance, Beisitian still saw disdain and disgust.

Beisitian took a step and left Qingzhou Town.

She’s used to walking on foot, so she came here and left on foot. When she stepped onto that forest path, she stopped.

The first time she met Mr. Wu was here. Because his appearance was very similar to her master’s, yet he was not her master, she rejected him.

But later, she went to the courtyard at the foot of the mountain and spent a day with Mr. Wu, she understood that he was wise and unassuming, and his mindset and artistic conception were no less than her master’s. In some ways, he was even superior.

Especially in the art of calligraphy, Mr. Wu had his unique insights. Though he said he lacked the strength to guide her, his words still offered Beisitian a lot of guidance.

This indicates that in this field, he far surpassed Beisitian. It was evident from his writing, and Beisitian was very willing to exchange experiences and insights with a predecessor.

So, when Mr. Wu could actively invite Beisitian, she was genuinely happy and the rejection she felt towards Mr. Wu from the bottom of her heart lessened a bit.

Beisitian hesitated for a moment, saw that it was still early, and then turned around, heading towards the small forest without a path.

Being able to communicate with someone stronger than herself was greatly beneficial to her!

After visiting the courtyard, Beisitian realized that it was very close to this path, no wonder Mr. Wu, with his legs, could walk here.

The forest wasn’t big. After passing through, one could see the courtyard at the foot of the mountain, which was actually closer to Kao Village.

Beisitian stood at the entrance of the courtyard and saw the soldier standing straight at the door from a distance, then she walked over.

The two men were the ones she had seen that day. Seeing it was Beisitian, they didn’t stop her much.

A young serviceman quickly came to Beisitian, smiling and asked, ”Are you Comrade Xiao Bei? Commander instructed that if you come, you can directly find me, I’ll take you to see the commander.”

The serviceman wasn’t very old, probably about eighteen or nineteen, smiling brightly as he led Beisitian inside.

”Oh right, my name is Li Xuejun. You can call me Comrade Xiao Li from now on!” Li Xuejun laughed as he took her to the backyard.

Mr. Wu’s study door was slightly ajar. Li Xuejun made a gesture to be silent and whispered, ”The commander is writing, be quieter when you go in.”

Li Xuejun quietly opened the door, waited for Beisitian to enter, then gently closed the door and left.

The room was very warm, with thick curtains hanging on the door early on, no cold breeze could come in, hence there was no need to close it tightly.

Wu Yuekai was practicing calligraphy in the inner room. He stood at the desk, with his coat taken off and wearing a wool vest over his white shirt, focused and dedicated in writing.

Seeing the concentrated and serious Wu Yuekai, Beisitian was lost in thought; the elderly man in front of her nearly overlapped with her master!

”Master...” Beisitian murmured in a trance.

The room was very quiet, so her slight voice made Wu Yuekai raise his head.

”Girl, you’re here, come, come, take a look at my writing.” Wu Yuekai looked down at his characters and waved at Beisitian.

Beisitian snapped back to reality, suppressed the surge of emotions in her heart, and quickly walked to the table.

Wu Yuekai was writing in cursive script, his strokes were like dragons and snakes, graceful like a swimming dragon. The writing was indeed good, but compared to his regular script, it seemed somewhat inferior.

Besides, from his writing, Beisitian sensed a contradiction. Cursive script values the state of mind, the intention follows the heart. If the heart is broad and pursues nature, the written characters would appear free and unrestrained.

However, in Wu Yuekai’s cursive script, Beisitian sensed a solemn air, lacking the casual elegance that should accompany cursive script, and instead bore a heaviness.

This might relate to Wu Yuekai’s identity as a soldier. In his position, he must consider his responsibilities. His thoughts and actions are for the greater good, yet bound by the strict laws of the military. That is why his writing evokes a sense of constraint, an inescapable constraint!

Beisitian pondered her words and then spoke her mind truthfully. After speaking, she was stunned, not because she hadn’t intended to be honest, but because this calm and serene interaction was very familiar.

She unconsciously treated Mr. Wu as her master!

Beisitian smiled bitterly in her heart. Whether she admitted it or not, she had developed admiration for Mr. Wu!

After listening to Beisitian’s words, Wu Yuekai looked at his writing in silence for a long time. No wonder he always felt he couldn’t find the feeling no matter how he wrote. Beisitian, as an observer, had awakened him with her words!

Though just an observer, without Beisitian’s level of insight, it would have been hard to see.

After a while, Wu Yuekai suddenly burst into laughter, ”Girl, you have a keen eye. I underestimated your artistic conception, good, good, good!”

He said ”good” three times in a row, but it couldn’t hide the regret in his eyes. Before he truly retired, he probably wouldn’t be able to write the cursive script he desired!

”This old man is really curious, how did the girl achieve such insight?” Wu Yuekai walked around the desk, came to the outer room, poured two cups of tea, ”Just brewed Longjing.”

Beisitian took the tea cup, ”Insight isn’t about age, it’s about perception.”

She shamelessly praised herself, for there was no other way to explain it. She might as well let people think she’s a genius.

They exchanged a few words and then casually chatted about family matters starting from calligraphy.

”Where is the girl from?” Wu Yuekai asked.

”Home is in Kao Village.”

”Who else is at home? How come a girl like you is out selling calligraphy for a living?”

”Parents are not in good health, little brother is young, the family can only depend on me now.” Beisitian said in a different way.

Wu Yuekai nodded, after thinking, he asked again, ”It’s not that the old man talks too much, but hasn’t the girl considered marriage?”

It wasn’t strange for Beisitian that he would ask such a question. Even in her former world, and especially here, it was common in rural areas for girls to marry at sixteen or seventeen. At her age, they would already have several kids, even with policies influencing it, the only kid would be running around, able to help with work by now.

”According to my parents, they want to wait until my brother grows up a bit.”

Perhaps due to the earlier feelings, Beisitian hadn’t hidden anything. Given Wu Yuekai’s status, if he wanted to investigate, he surely could find out everything.

Wu Yuekai lowered his eyes, muttering to himself: Boy, if you don’t complete your mission soon, you won’t be able to keep your bride!
