I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 139: Chapter 138: I’ll Just Use the Girl’s Medicine

Last time, after Beisitian healed Yang Wulang and the two children, the relationship between the two families became closer, and Ma was especially cordial with her because Beisitian never competed with them for business despite having such abilities.

”Sister-in-law Qin, how come I find that Little Tian’er seems to have become prettier!” Ma said, smiling at Beisitian.

Ma had always had a way with words, but today she truly noticed that Beisitian looked different from before. Those who saw her every day might not notice, but Ma hadn’t seen Beisitian for two months and found her face seemed a bit plumper and fairer.

Beisitian was aware of her changes; she had gained some weight, and recently she had made efforts to nourish her skin using specially ground grape seed powder, and her skin had significantly improved.

The original foundation of the body was good, but it had become emaciated due to long-term pressure, making it hard to see any semblance of a decent appearance.

Mrs. Qin had noticed it long ago and listened happily to others praising Beisitian, happier than if she were being praised herself.

Yang Wulang had no attention to spare for who looked good; his focus was on Mrs. Qin’s eyes.

”Sister-in-law Qin, your eyes now look just like a healthy person’s!” Yang Wulang remarked, full of emotion as he looked at Mrs. Qin’s eyes.

Yang Wulang could handle common colds and fevers, but he knew nothing about eyes.

He had noticed Mrs. Qin’s eyes before, so seeing her clear black and white eyes now filled him with amazement and admiration.

Beisitian, this girl was far more capable than she seemed!

Mrs. Qin’s eyes wouldn’t have been easily treated even in a big city hospital, much less a hope without a major hospital in Beijing, and the duration of her affliction made even that hope dim.

But Beisitian had quietly healed her!

”A Divine Doctor indeed!” Yang Wulang praised sincerely.

”I don’t deserve the title of Divine Doctor.”

Beisitian wasn’t being modest; if this title had been given to her in her past glorious life, she would have accepted it with peace of mind, but now it was beyond her reach.

Both children of Yang Wulang were older than Luo Anping. The three kids played with Zhuangzhuang in the yard, and they shared some candy with Luo Anping.

Luo Anping remembered what Beisitian had taught him: ’Receiving without reciprocating is impolite,’ so he took out two pieces of White Rabbit Creamy Candy and gave them to the other two.

This White Rabbit Creamy Candy was a New Year gift from Zhang Baoli, specifically prepared for little children as it was her first visit.

There were no White Rabbit Creamy Candies available in Qingzhou Town; she had Zhang Ziquan bring them back from the city. They were especially tasty, and adults liked them just as much as children.

With a small bag containing several dozen pieces, Luo Anping was overjoyed. When visiting Luo Aiguo’s house, he didn’t ask for the sour three-color candy because one, their house had some, and two, because he had the White Rabbit Creamy Candy.

It was the first time the two children had tasted such candy, and they happily smacked their lips with it in their mouths. Returning home, they asked Yang Wulang and his wife for more candy, and the couple was dumbfounded, not knowing where to buy any.

Starting from the third day of the lunar New Year, the days for visiting relatives began, so the Li couple from the west side of the village came along with their child, wishing the New Year to Beisitian and then to Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo.

Carpenter Liu Family also brought their whole family to wish the New Year to Luo Er’s family. These two or three days, Luo Er’s family was bustling with visitors.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo knew that these visitors came to pay New Year visits because of Beisitian and that they were courteous to the couple also because of Beisitian.

How long had it been since Luo Er’s family had such a lively Spring Festival!

When people came to wish the New Year, naturally one had to return the favor. Beisitian had prepared plenty of gifts for everyone, with none forgotten.

Seeing the New Year gifts from Luo Er’s house, everyone realized the rumors in the village were true: Luo Er’s family had indeed risen up, and Beisitian earned a steady salary every month.

A bustling New Year passed, and after this Spring Festival, the transformation of Luo Er’s family began to truly reveal itself.

Winter passed and spring arrived; the earth was waiting for renewal, and tender green shoots began to emerge from the soil, showing tiny tips.

The Kao Shan River thawed, making it much more convenient for everyone to do laundry and cook without having to wait for the village squad’s loudspeaker broadcasts every month.

The heavy cotton jackets were taken off, and Beisitian felt a lightness all over.

Because of the changing seasons, it was said that Wu Yuekai came here again for recuperation. He had someone inform her in advance, so Beisitian planned to visit today.

It was still the same courtyard house, with soldiers at the gate being replaced but the orderly still being Li Xuejun.

”Comrade Xiao Bei, we meet again!” Li Xuejun was also quite pleased to see a familiar face.

”Hello, Comrade Xiao Li.” Beisitian replied with a smile.

After leading Beisitian to Wu Yuekai’s study, Li Xuejun went to serve them tea and water.

”Girl, come, come, give me a few more of your plasters!” Wu Yuekai immediately said upon seeing Beisitian.

Beisitian was momentarily stunned, then chuckled, ”We haven’t seen each other for a whole winter, and you don’t ask how I’ve been, just straight to requesting things!”

Li Xuejun’s hand trembled as he was pouring water, almost splashing hot water on himself. This Comrade Xiao Bei, how could she speak to the old commander like this!

He set down the kettle and was just about to properly ’educate’ Beisitian when he heard Wu Yuekai’s hearty laughter, which instantly deflated him. In Beijing, Wu Yuekai had never laughed like this.

”Just from looking at you, I can tell you are eating well and sleeping soundly; what is there to ask?” Wu Yuekai laughed.

A whole winter apart, and Beisitian had undergone a tremendous transformation, her lively almond eyes filled with charm, her complexion fair and delicate, with just the right amount of flesh on her face—any more would make her look chubby, any less too thin. Her unpainted lips appeared pink. Not only in the village but she would be a rare beauty even in the city.

Wu Yuekai couldn’t help but worry about that boy Luo Xudong again.

”Those three plasters of yours, after using them, my legs didn’t hurt for half a month; it felt like I was wearing thick knee pads, not even feeling cold!” Wu Yuekai was genuinely surprised.

Hearing this, Li Xuejun’s face darkened instantly, and he couldn’t help but interject, ”Old commander, you can’t use things with unknown origins!”

The old commander using unauthorized medication secretly was truly terrifying!

Wu Yuekai’s face sank, ”What do you mean unknown origins, the ’origin’ is right in front of you, are your eyes mistaking air for sight!”

Li Xuejun replied with a miserable look, ”That’s not what I meant, your medications have to go through department approval, and Comrade Xiao Bei, after all, is not a military doctor, the medications she prescribes you...”

”What! I can’t choose my own medicine? From now on, I’ll only use the girl’s!” Wu Yuekai immediately became unreasonable.
