I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: There Is Hope

After Beisitian’s careful inquiry, she discovered that Luo Anguo didn’t lose all sensation in his lower limbs; instead, he experienced muscle weakness compounded by broken legs.

Beisitian suspected that he might have injured his spinal nerves, and the muscle weakness in his lower limbs was mainly due to the fractured legs, causing him to miss the best recovery period.

”I went to the town clinic, and they told me there was no hope, that I would never stand again in this lifetime.”

When Luo Anguo said this, his emotions were still somewhat agitated. It was clear how much shock and impact this incident had on him at the time, so much that he couldn’t calm down even after all these years.

Beisitian felt that Luo Anguo missing the optimal period was also inextricably linked to the town clinic.

Luo Anguo wasn’t severely paralyzed; his lower limbs hadn’t completely lost sensation, but he couldn’t move because of the fractures.

If paralysis of the lower limbs were due to spinal nerve damage, the best rehabilitation treatment would be within about six months. Although it’s not entirely impossible to regain independence after this period, it becomes much more challenging, mainly due to muscle atrophy.

Even though Mrs. Qin had been massaging and exercising him, Luo Anguo’s leg muscles still showed a certain degree of atrophy, as thin as his arms.

Luo Anguo kept a close watch on Beisitian’s expression. Seeing her somber face and lowered eyes, saying nothing, his heart sank.

When there’s no hope, it’s one thing, but once there’s a glimmer, he doesn’t want to give up easily.

”Little Tian’er, just tell your dad if there’s hope or not. If it’s treatable, let me know. Even if I can’t be cured, it will be just the same as now — I can bear it!” Luo Anguo said anxiously.

Luo Anguo’s situation was less severe than Beisitian had imagined, but due to the prolonged time, it might take considerable time for her spirit to help him recover.

This might not mean much to Luo Anguo, but Beisitian wasn’t planning to stay that long.

”Don’t worry, let me think.” Once Beisitian fell into thought, she didn’t like being disturbed.

Luo Anguo had no choice but to pick up a cigarette and smoke.

Mrs. Qin was equally tense beside him. Beisitian even healed her eyes; maybe she could also heal his legs!

Luo Anguo’s current situation was rather difficult. The major problems were the damage to his spinal nerves and the muscle atrophy, which was also a hassle.

Additionally, Beisitian wasn’t sure if Luo Anguo’s broken legs had healed well. If not well healed, leaving sequelae, it might also pose a significant obstacle.

What relieved Beisitian the most was that Luo Anguo didn’t have bedsores.

The absence of bedsores was naturally attributed to Mrs. Qin’s good care, which indirectly reflected that his spinal nerve damage wasn’t as severe as imagined.

If it had been recently damaged, Beisitian’s current spirit could treat it, and it would have decent effects, but so much time had passed.

In her previous life, she had treated a patient with high paraplegia due to spinal damage. At that time, her master had passed away, and she was at her peak.

In their place, these patients were basically left to die, as high paraplegia easily leads to respiratory arrest. Beisitian had tried a different approach, using highly stimulating Xuan Talismans to stimulate his spinal nerves.

This kind of Xuan Talisman was one of her self-preservation methods, much like the burning Xuan Talisman. It had a stimulating effect that could produce an electric shock-like sensation, able to paralyze opponents.

This patient experienced several respiratory arrests, and his family was already preparing for the worst. Beisitian thus took the plunge with her treatment method, unexpectedly finding it effective.

After more than a year of treatment, although the patient couldn’t be like a normal person, he could live independently, meaning he had gained the ability to take care of himself. Under certain conditions, he could even walk a few hundred meters!

Compared to that person, Luo Anguo’s condition was a thousand times better, only that Beisitian’s Xuan Talismans now weren’t quite at that level.

Luo Anguo certainly needed treatment, but how to shorten this treatment time?

Beisitian racked her brains, concluding that the best way was to enhance the spirit, but she had always been doing that.

”Dad’s situation isn’t as bad as I imagined, but curing it will likely take a long time,” Beisitian said truthfully.

Upon hearing this, Luo Anguo was overjoyed. No matter how long it took, it was better than being paralyzed for life!

”As long as there’s hope, it’s all good!” Luo Anguo quickly said.

Beisitian nodded. Instead of being entangled, it’s better to start the treatment, as it needs to be treated anyway.

Like Mrs. Qin’s eyes, the preliminary groundwork was done well, and drinking the talismanic water took effect within a week.

”Since we’re starting the treatment, dad, you’ll have to listen to me,” Beisitian stated.

”No problem, I’ll do whatever you say!” Luo Anguo replied.

To be able to stand up again and protect this family like a true man, Luo Anguo was willing to do anything.

Beisitian nodded, ”First, you need to quit smoking!”

Luo Anguo’s face stiffened, ”Why quit smoking?”

”Smoking, alcohol, and spicy foods are all very detrimental to your recovery,” Beisitian explained.

Luo Anguo laughed bitterly, nodding, ”Alright, I’ll quit smoking!”

These things sometimes aren’t easy to quit just by saying so, so Beisitian would give him a buffer period.

Except for asking him to quit smoking, Beisitian didn’t do much else. However, this day was different for both Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo; Mrs. Qin’s eyes had recovered, and Luo Anguo now had the hope of standing up again.

Everyone in Luo Er’s family was now smiling, no longer the lifeless atmosphere of the past.

After a few days, Beisitian went to town, and while ’handing in her work’ at Wenfang Society, Feng Yunzhang told her that Zhou Jiren had left Qingzhou Town and wouldn’t return for some time.

Feng Yunzhang specifically mentioned this because Zhou Jiren had instructed that if she needed anything, she could take it from Jishi Pharmacy first.

Beisitian nodded. Besides being mysterious, Zhou Jiren seemed to be a decent person and treated friends well.

Yes, he could probably be considered a friend.

”Oh, Miss Bei, Mr. Wu passed a message that you should visit when you have time. Mr. Wu said that although he can’t personally instruct you on anything, by exchanging ideas, both parties can make progress!” Feng Yunzhang expressed joyfully, as he could follow her there thanks to Beisitian.

This ’greeting gift’ turned out to be Feng Yunzhang’s most successful gift; he never expected Mr. Wu to be so fond of Beisitian, even inviting her over actively.

Beisitian smiled and agreed, then prepared to leave.

As she left Wenfang Society, Beisitian saw an unexpected person.

She saw a girl who bore a striking resemblance to her, dressed highlighting the city girl style, with her head held high, walking with a man she didn’t recognize.
