I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Turning the Tables

”Since you’ve guessed Qin Hongmei’s intentions, can you guess what she plans to do?” Luo Xuhua asked.

Beisitian looked at Luo Xuhua and smiled slightly, ”Didn’t big brother also guess? But I’m afraid it won’t be that simple. Human nature is inherently greedy, and Qin Hongmei exemplifies this thoroughly. She will definitely maximize her own benefits.”

”What do you mean?”

”If this thing really succeeds, the biggest beneficiary is Qin Hongmei. But after all, this matter is not commendable, and many people will certainly scold her. Even though she has a thick skin, I suppose she doesn’t want to get criticized every time she goes out.” Beisitian said.

Luo Xuhua couldn’t help but find her description amusing. This young lady’s words were always spot-on and couldn’t help but make people smile.

”Indeed, I thought about this problem too. She would probably make it well known to everyone,” Luo Xuhua said.

Beisitian nodded. If Qin Hongmei really uses tricks to bring them together, she will definitely make it known to everyone. This way, no one can blame her.

It has to be said that Qin Hongmei is, after all, from the city, and her cunning and calculation should not be underestimated.

”What are you planning to do?” Luo Xuhua asked again.

In the past, he was the one giving ideas, but now he was more willing to listen to Beisitian’s ideas.

”Use a counter-plan. Since big brother thought of it, stop asking questions you already know the answer to.” Beisitian glanced at him.

Luo Xuhua laughed again, ”I thought of using a counter-plan, but I haven’t come up with a specific plan on how to implement it.”

Beisitian raised her eyes and asked, ”Big brother doesn’t want an evil-minded woman like that around uncle, right?”

Luo Xuhua was slightly silent and said after a while, ”I certainly don’t want that, but as for Luo Xuqiang...”

He could see that although Luo Xuqiang wasn’t very close to this side, he hadn’t really followed his mother either.

Beisitian felt a little strange, ”I can’t let go of someone who’s going to harm me just because of someone who doesn’t matter, can I?”

Luo Xuhua chuckled; indeed, for Beisitian, Luo Xuqiang was someone irrelevant. He was the one who got tangled up in various ties, thinking too much.

Even if Luo Xuqiang knew the truth and hated her, she wouldn’t care. If Qin Hongmei succeeds, who would care about her hate?

The next day, Beisitian went to herd sheep as usual. On the way, she met Qin Hongmei, who greeted her with a smile and chatted about some everyday matters, mentioning that her uncle went to town and brought back a few pastries.

Initially, Beisitian didn’t understand why she suddenly brought this up, as she never mentioned such things before. Later, it became clear.

Sure enough, when she was herding sheep, Luo Xuhua brought over the pastries.

”She said she would bring them to you. You’re unlikely to believe her, so she asked me to bring them and told me to say she sneaked them for you.” Luo Xuhua truthfully relayed Qin Hongmei’s words.

Beisitian raised her eyebrows, ”If uncle knew the pastries he bought in the rain were used by Qin Hongmei like this, I wonder what he’d think of it.”

This season had a lot of rain, with the weather being gloomy most of the time, and a small shower every few days, making the village roads muddy.

Luo Xuhua shrugged, ”My dad is now tied down by the family, and coupled with how Qin Hongmei acts differently in front of him compared to others, my dad hasn’t realized what kind of person she is.”

Beisitian smiled slightly. She didn’t know whether Luo Aiguo realized it or not, but she did know that Luo Aiguo didn’t truly love Luo Xuhua’s mother.

”Alright, it’s almost time. She’s probably going to bring people over soon. Big brother, you should avoid this for now,” Beisitian said.

Luo Xuhua nodded and took a turn to head towards the village chief’s house. Beisitian was right. Someone needed to prove he wasn’t there and had nothing to do with it. Who would be more suitable than the village chief?

Besides, he had other matters to discuss with the village chief.

Beisitian’s lips curled slightly coldly as she walked towards the back of the North Slope. The sheep were grazing there and wouldn’t run wild if left alone.

She had to wait there for Qin Hongmei to bring people over.

At Luo’s house.

Qin Hongmei was feeling a bit restless at home, often looking outside, estimating the time, and when she thought it was about right, she went out.

”Sister, are you ready?” Qin Hongmei shouted towards the house at the end of the corridor.

”Ready, ready, just waiting for you, Sister Qin.” A big, robust wife came out.

The two of them headed towards the North Slope, and several wives gathered along the way.

”Sister Qin, why isn’t Jinfeng coming today?” The robust wife’s husband was called Zhang Tiangen, and everyone called her Sweet Root Wife.

”Jinfeng is feeling unwell. She caught a chill this month, causing trouble, so she’s lying at home!” Qin Hongmei snorted.

Sweet Root Wife said, ”Sister Qin is so good, really cares for Jinfeng.”

”Hey, what are you saying? We’re all family; no need to talk about caring or not caring.”

”Sweet Root Wife, why are we going to the North Slope today?” Another wife, Tian Da Jiao, suddenly asked.

They usually picked wild vegetables at Dayan because that area had more fields and thus more wild vegetables, while the North Slope was generally a place for children.

Qin Hongmei responded, ”It’s just to accommodate me. My calves are full of big bumps. Going to Dayan is too far, so I have to thank everyone!”

Since Qin Hongmei said that, no one wanted to say anything more, and any dissatisfaction in their hearts couldn’t be voiced.

At the North Slope, Qin Hongmei immediately saw Luo Er’s family’s sheep—only the sheep, no people. She was delighted, knowing things were likely happening!

The wives dispersed at the North Slope. Qin Hongmei waited, and since no one went to the back mountain, she prepared to head there; generally, people wouldn’t head to the back mountain because past the North Slope, it became a real mountain where there was danger.

Not everything can be accounted for. Qin Hongmei specifically mentioned to Sweet Root Wife and Tian Da Jiao that she had a stomach ache and was going to the back mountain to take care of it.

”Why not just behind that tree, Sister Qin? What if you run into wolves on the back mountain?” Tian Da Jiao advised.

A while back, those wolves ran from the North Slope.

”How can that do? What if someone comes by? It’s fine; no wolves around. If something happens, I’ll shout, and you all will hear,” Qin Hongmei said with a smile.

Watching her leave, Tian Da Jiao shook her head, ”Behind that tree is secluded. There’s a big rock at the front, and no one passing by will see. She just insists on going to the back mountain.”

”Let her go. She used to be from the city, more particular than us,” Sweet Root Wife said, then began looking for wild vegetables.

This North Slope didn’t have many wild vegetables, especially with kids playing around, leaving very little. The wives didn’t pick much after a long while, and dissatisfaction started to grow.

”Why hasn’t Sister Qin come back yet? She’s been gone for quite some time!” Sweet Root Wife looked towards the back mountain.
