I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 140: Chapter 139: Treating the Leg

Li Xuejun looked at Wu Yuekai with a bitter face, obviously, this wasn’t the first time he’d been this unreasonable!

Beisitian didn’t care about any systems or rules, as long as Wu Yuekai was willing to use it, she was willing to do it.

The ointment given to Wu Yuekai before the New Year was used to nourish and invigorate the blood, relax the muscles and joints, regulate qi and relieve pain, and dispel cold and dampness. It contained not only various traditional Chinese herbs but also her specially made Xuan Talisman.

So after applying it three times, Wu Yuekai didn’t feel cold or stiff in his legs for half a month and didn’t experience pain.

To Beisitian, the medicinal effect was still a bit short, because it was made rather hastily, and her spirit at that time wasn’t as abundant as it is now. If she made it now, it could be extended to more than twenty days.

Beisitian ignored Li Xuejun’s piercing gaze and gave the three already prepared ointments to Wu Yuekai.

”Sir, still for three consecutive days.” Beisitian said, glancing at Li Xuejun, probably because his gaze was full of substance, and added, ”Don’t worry, this is not a simple pain-relieving ointment. It’s different from the pain-relieving and dampness-removing ointments sold on the market. Even if there are side effects, they are very minimal, it can be used long term.”

Most of the side effects of the traditional Chinese herbs were neutralized by the talisman powder in it, and the remaining small part couldn’t be neutralized at the moment.

Li Xuejun certainly didn’t believe it, they had seen the best traditional Chinese medicine doctors in the country, let alone the Chief’s dedicated attending physician, who wasn’t an ordinary doctor, that was...

Even that extraordinary person couldn’t achieve it, could a village girl achieve it with homemade ointment?

Later, Beisitian and Wu Yuekai exchanged some calligraphy insights, during this time Beisitian had made some progress, although it was very small.

At her level, further progress was very difficult.

Afterwards, Wu Yuekai showed obvious signs of fatigue, and Beisitian took her leave. As she walked out, she thought, the old man’s health had deteriorated considerably since the previous year.

With such a body, why doesn’t he return home to rest peacefully?

She could see that the old man had this intention, but it seemed that the military wouldn’t let him go.

Behind her came the sound of quick footsteps. Beisitian didn’t need to turn around to know that Li Xuejun had caught up. She stopped and turned to wait for him.

”Comrade Xiao Bei!” Li Xuejun ran over, somewhat angry, ”Can’t you stop giving the Chief medicine, the Chief’s body isn’t a test subject, do you know what will happen to you if the military finds out what you’re doing?”

”Test subject? Whose conclusion is that?” Beisitian asked.

Li Xuejun faltered, ”You’re not a certified doctor, just a village doctor, you probably don’t even have a medical license. Isn’t that treating the Chief as a test subject?”

Medical qualification, this was indeed an issue.

In her past life, she had the Mystical Doctor Seal in hand, but even if she had it in this life, who would recognize it? Moreover, she didn’t have it.

”Comrade Xiao Li, you’re an educated person, you should be responsible for your words and actions. The idea of a test subject is just your own delusion and speculation. Don’t impose it on others.”

Li Xuejun glared and said, ”Don’t keep harping on this point, the Chief’s health isn’t good already, if you keep messing with the medication, it’ll only make things worse!”

It seemed the military was aware of Wu Yuekai’s health condition.

”Precisely because the old man’s health is worsening that I couldn’t help myself,” Beisitian frowned.

Li Xuejun, seeing her refusal to heed advice, became more furious, ”If you continue like this, I’ll report your actions to the higher-ups! The punishment will be severe!”

On this point, he wasn’t exaggerating.

Beisitian wasn’t frightened, she smiled faintly, ”I’ll go back now and tell the old man about your intimidation.” With that, she was about to turn back.

Li Xuejun panicked at this, hurriedly grabbed Beisitian, then realizing it wasn’t appropriate, quickly let go, his face red with anger.

”Why are you being so unreasonable!”

Beisitian stopped and looked at him, her expression serious and earnest, ”Comrade Xiao Li, I understand your concern for the old man, you’re a diligent and responsible comrade. Here’s an idea, the old man has an attending physician, right? Let the attending physician examine my ointment. If there’s no problem, you can use it. Just like you, I can’t bear to see the old man suffering in pain every day.”

Li Xuejun’s expression softened at her kind words. Hearing her suggestion, he thought it was a good one. The Chief listens to the attending physician, if the attending physician says no, the Chief likely wouldn’t insist.

After reaching an agreement with Li Xuejun, Beisitian left.

Beisitian had important matters to attend to when she returned. With everything reviving, it was the right time to treat Luo Anguo’s leg condition.

After a winter of care, Luo Anguo’s legs were no longer as thin as arms as they used to be.

This benefited from Beisitian’s basic treatment and from Mrs. Qin taking Luo Anguo for rehabilitation exercises every day.

Upon returning, Beisitian first checked Luo Anguo’s legs.

Luo Anguo remained passive, using the qi-invigorating and blood-renewing ointment every day, but unfortunately, there was still no sensation.

He had considered advising Beisitian to stop her efforts, as his legs were unlike his wife’s eyes. Her condition was induced by someone, but his was truly paralyzed.

”Little Tian’er...” Luo Anguo spoke as Beisitian let down his pants.

Beisitian nodded, ”Dad, what comes next might be challenging, you need to be mentally prepared.” With that, she went to the west room.

Challenging?

Luo Anguo couldn’t fathom anything more challenging than what Mrs. Qin and Beisitian had already been through. Mrs. Qin supported him ’wandering’ on the ground twice a day, but he could barely move his legs and needed Luo Anping’s help. Even so, Mrs. Qin persisted the entire winter.

When Luo Anguo asked her why she was so committed to something seemingly hopeless, Mrs. Qin seemed somewhat surprised, ”Little Tian’er said she could cure it.”

Luo Anguo felt a warmth in his heart, whether it was from Mrs. Qin’s trust in Beisitian or the affection for him, just these words had driven Mrs. Qin to persist for so long!

After Beisitian returned to the west room, Mrs. Qin began to massage Luo Anguo’s legs. Following the method taught by Beisitian, she massaged them from top to bottom, inside and out. This took even more time and effort than supporting him ’wandering’ on the ground.

After each massage, Mrs. Qin was covered in sweat, her arms tired and aching.

At night, Beisitian lit the oil lamp and started preparing the silver needle.

The silver needle was bought from a nearby village last year after treating Chunyu’s mother. Qingzhou Town doesn’t have high-quality silver needles, but the ones from that village were barely usable.

Tonight, Beisitian would begin acupuncture for Luo Anguo.
