697: Chapter 110: The Pact 697: Chapter 110: The Pact Demi-demon, as the name implies, is only half monster.

Because their bodies are partially human, they’ve looked more human since birth… haven’t they?

Most demi-demons could be described as misshapen, even looking not quite human nor monster, bearing a terrifying appearance that scares humans, and pure demons don’t plan to accept them — after all, most demi-demons are born because monsters cannot control their lower halves.

Expecting monsters, who just wanted to vent and accidentally had offspring with humans, to take responsibility is almost impossible. “Ouch!

It hurts to death!

Damn woman, can’t you be a bit gentler?”

The demi-demon in a red robe was extremely displeased, glaring at the witch who was a head shorter.

In his heart, he evaluated her from a monster’s perspective: Too small, not much meat to eat.

Although tender, there probably isn’t much to chew on…

Why is she so skinny?

Probably not very tasty.

Yet, the demi-demon boy had never eaten humans or monsters. “If it weren’t for you helping me fend off that toad, I wouldn’t even treat you.”

The little witch, a bit over ten… or perhaps eleven, was a head shorter than the demi-demon boy.

Her face still had childish features but she spoke with surprising maturity — this made the demi-demon boy gnash his teeth in frustration.

But there was no choice… he couldn’t beat her!

Only ten and a half years old!

What a nightmare!!

As a demi-demon, he had seen sixteen winters…

Once spring and cherry blossom season passed, he’d experience his seventeenth winter, right? “That toad will come back.” The demi-demon boy clearly didn’t want to dwell on the young witch’s wound-dressing skills, so he shifted the topic.

This ancient shrine housed a mysterious power.

This power could fully awaken a demi-demon’s monster bloodline — once that happened, the demi-demon boy could truly be called a monster.

This was his lifelong dream — and it seemed that toad had the same idea, hence its attack.

Should he seize the opportunity to take the shrine’s mysterious power while the little witch was busy fighting the smelly toad?

The demi-demon boy looked at the young witch grinding herbs, and a wicked thought began to take shape — how could it be wicked?

After all, he was a monster… though just a demi-demon. “Do you always live here?” The demi-demon boy couldn’t help but frown — the witch was so small, living alone in this shrine seemed too empty… “Where are your relatives?” “You ask too many questions.” The young witch lifted her head, finally pressing the crushed herbs onto the last of his wounds, and then disdainfully wrapped it with white cloth, “You can leave now, don’t come back.

Or I’ll kill you.”

But not scary at all… probably just too young, even if she puts on a cold face.

However… despite being so small, she exuded an incredibly strong spiritual power, prompting the demi-demon boy to retreat. “I…

I’ll come back!

I will definitely gain the power here and become a real monster!

Just watch me!” The demi-demon boy fled the shrine in a hurry.

Seasons passed.

The seventeenth winter arrived, and the demi-demon boy returned to the shrine halfway up the mountain.

The little witch had grown a bit taller, but was still just as skinny.

Feeling considerably stronger, the demi-demon boy peered from outside the shrine.

The little witch was kneeling and writing or reading, so absorbed that she didn’t notice his arrival.

Perfect opportunity!

The demi-demon boy was visibly thrilled.

He knew that the center of the shrine’s main hall held that mysterious power!

While the little witch wasn’t around, the demi-demon boy easily reached the altar.

Yet the demi-demon boy seemed to not have considered one thing — how could a witch with such strong spiritual power be so careless about guarding the object?

The altar was surrounded by numerous hidden cursed imprints.

By the time the young witch put down her book and entered the main hall, the demi-demon boy had already fallen into a trap and couldn’t move. “It’s you again.” The little witch frowned: “I told you, if you dare to come back, I’ll kill you.”

The demi-demon boy struggled fiercely, baring his ferocious fangs.

When she said she’d kill, she actually meant it, especially since the toad had been killed — despite rumors of its long-lived kind, they too would eventually die.

But the demi-demon boy was ultimately unable to break free from the witch’s trap… when faced with her arrow nocked on the bowstring, he suddenly ceased struggling…

Death, perhaps, was another form of release. “You want to die?” The young witch’s finger eased slightly, but didn’t release the taut string. “Why so much nonsense!

Damn woman, kill or don’t kill!” The demi-demon boy snarled instantly.

The young witch curiously asked, “Why do you want the shrine’s offering?”

The demi-demon boy said he wanted to become a real monster.

The witch lifted the curse, telling him to leave and not return. “I will come back!” The demi-demon boy fled, his voice of discontent echoing from the mountain’s base, “I’ll defeat you myself and make you willingly hand it over!”

Don’t come back, the young witch whispered silently on the mountain. …

Another year passed, it was the demi-demon boy’s eighteenth winter.

A scar marked his face.

After a year of hardening, he felt much stronger.

The little witch was still in the shrine, writing and reading, solitary and cold. “Damn woman, this time I will… ah!”

The demi-demon boy was thrown directly from the shrine — to be precise, he fell down the long stone steps.

But he wasn’t going to give up…

Time to train for another month! “Damn woman, this time I’m not the same as befo… ah!!”

He tumbled down. “Damn woman!

This time I will surely… ah!!!”

Rolled down. “Damn wom… ah!!”

Fell down.

Again and again, as persistent as a rock.

Falling down… … “I beg you, lend me the power of the Shrine.

As long as I can become a true monster!

Whatever you ask me to do, I’ll agree to it!”

At last, the Demi-Demon boy lowered his head in front of the Shrine, as if his edges had long been worn clean by tumbling down flights of stairs again and again – he really couldn’t defeat this Shrine’s guardian witch. “Why are you so obsessed with becoming a true monster?” The young witch thoughtfully asked. “That guy…” The Demi-Demon boy gritted his teeth, “That guy, no matter what, I must defeat him and make him admit his mistakes in front of my mother.

For this goal, I can give up anything!” “Mother…” The young witch frowned slightly, “Does your monster blood come from your father?”

The Demi-Demon boy tilted his head, “He’s called Dog God General.

My mother was taken away by him.

After giving birth to me, she abandoned us.

Just because my mother was merely a tool for pleasure…

Just because I can’t inherit the true monster blood, I’m just a Demi-Demon!

I can’t even be seen in daylight…

I even brought ridicule upon that guy from other monsters!”

The young witch pondered for a long time, then finally shook her head: “You carry too much of a murderous aura.

Making you a true monster will only bring more death.” “The ones I’ve killed are all robbers and monsters who only know how to plunder!” The Demi-Demon boy looked straight at the young witch in front of him, “I’ve never harmed a human!” “Very well then.” The young witch said calmly, “Go and kill a hundred evil huge powerful monsters, and also gather a hundred different ancient texts.

Then, I can agree to help you become a true monster.”

She gave him an almost impossible task.

The hundred huge powerful monsters could be determined by the remaining monster’s aura, and the hundred different ancient texts… whether they counted or not, it was actually up to her to decide. “A hundred huge powerful monsters, a hundred different ancient texts…” The Demi-Demon boy gritted his teeth and decisively turned to leave, “It’s a deal!”

A month later.

The Demi-Demon boy sat proudly on the ground in front of the Shrine, laying down the relics of three defeated huge powerful monsters, and more than a dozen ancient texts on the ground, “A promise is a promise!

I’ve done it!” “There are still ninety-seven huge powerful monsters, and eighty-six ancient texts.” The young witch calmly surveyed the Demi-Demon boy’s ‘trophies’. “What!

There should only be eighty-five left to gather!” “Two of these are duplicates.” The young witch shook her head, “Can’t you read?”

The Demi-Demon boy nearly bit through his teeth, then stormed off, “I’ll come back in a month!”

The young witch still shook her head, looking at the items scattered on the ground, silently tidying them up… taking the things left behind by the huge powerful monsters to be purged, then picking up each of the ancient texts, and returning to her room.

It was like a library here, smelling of paper and ink…

Her body also seemed to absorb this smell.

The young witch began reading the ancient texts she had not yet read, suddenly lowering her head with a slight smile…

Her knowledge and understanding of the outside world all came from these books.

The world of books, vast as the sea…

What kind of wonderful world will he bring next time?

The young witch quietly wrote down the name of the Demi-Demon boy on a white piece of paper, in elegant and beautiful handwriting. [Inuyasha] … …

Zhuifeng rubbed his head.

He had fallen accidentally from a tree branch after turning over.

He couldn’t understand why he chose to sleep on a tree branch – perhaps it was this body’s habit?

However, it seems he had a dream… as a bystander.

Perhaps, it was a lingering memory from the original owner of this body? “…What is this?”

Zhuifeng puzzledly stared at something on the ground – right in front of where he had fallen from the tree, there was a small box tied with a ribbon that had appeared without him knowing when it had arrived.

Zhuifeng was not unfamiliar with such boxes tied with ribbons… but when did it appear?

Even if he was asleep, no one should have come by.

At least with his keen sense of smell, he couldn’t pick up any foreign scent.

Zhuifeng frowned slightly, then picked up the box directly.

After shaking it vigorously a few times, he felt as if it was empty, with nothing inside, which made him even more curious.

Unable to resist, he crudely tore the box open but found nothing, only a seemingly illusory peculiar air mass appeared in front of him… or rather, it looked more like a semi-transparent white light orb. “What the hell?”

Zhuifeng scratched his head and reached out to knead and flatten the air mass… having the feeling of not wanting to stop.

Yet, when he threw this peculiar light orb on the ground, it automatically flew back to his side.

Even when he threw it far away with great force, it still immediately returned to his side, seemingly determined never to leave him. “This thing…” Zhuifeng furrowed his brow, finally holding this light orb in the palm of his hand… feeling a strange yet indescribable sensation. “Forget it, whatever… better go find Zi Xing.”

Zhuifeng leaped directly to the top of a large tree and started to gaze into the distance – peculiarly, he clearly saw the stone monument of Zaodao Village, yet there wasn’t a trace of any village around? … …

The Nagato House was a small but strictly regulated local noble family – of course, such a noble family would be as insignificant as a sesame seed in the entirety of the Kondo Family’s domain.

All the direct members of the Nagato House were sitting upright, ready for the midday meal.

Nagato Shinji and Nagato Saburo sat facing each other, while at the head of the table, the vacant seat was reserved for Lord Nagato, with Lord Nagato’s wife beside him.

At this moment, Lord Nagato’s wife had already arrived.

Below them, starting from Nagato Shinji and Nagato Saburo on either side sat various members of the Nagato family – including Lord Nagato’s sister, Nagato Kiko, and her husband Sakamoto Ryota, along with Nagato Kiko’s son Sakamoto Taichi and daughter-in-law.

On the side was the youngest, Nagato Tsuruko.

The family remained silent, even though the table was already filled with food, and the food had probably gone cold, no one moved – because Lord Nagato hadn’t arrived yet.

Eating before the Family Head was to disrespect the authority of the head.

The matriarch of the Nagato family had aged and lost her beauty, and she quietly waited with her head bowed…

When footsteps were heard outside the door, she quickly stood up to open the door for her husband, Lord Nagato, and attended him as he sat down.

Once Lord Nagato was seated, he glanced at everyone present, and finally seeing Nagato Tsuruko at the furthest end with her forehead wrapped in bandages, he frowned and asked, “What happened?” “It seems Tsuruko accidentally fell and hit her head while playing in the courtyard.” Lord Nagato’s wife quietly said. “I thought Ah Xiu was the one caring for her.” Lord Nagato said placidly: “Have her punished according to family discipline.”

The culprit, Nagato Shinji, sat with an impassive expression.

After Lord Nagato finished speaking, he waved his hand for everyone to start eating… and so the Nagato family began their meal.
