681: Chapter 94: The Mysterious Movie 681: Chapter 94: The Mysterious Movie Even though Zi Xing indeed came to the human world’s cinema for the first time to watch a movie, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how movies are made.

She just retains a bit of the innate perspective of monsters; unless necessary, she avoids contact with human civilization.

Because it is precisely the rise of this civilization that has led to a significant change in the environment, becoming a major factor in the decline of the demon tribe.

However, let alone high-class monsters like Zi Xing, even ordinary monsters rarely visit theaters, especially not for horror films, which are nothing but child’s play to monsters.

No matter how terrifying the movie is, how could it compare to the monsters’ own experiences?

And as realistic as the special effects are, they can’t match what monsters, who walk the line between yin and yang, truly see.

But seeing Zhuifeng’s seemingly eager look, Zi Xing decided not to comment.

At this moment, how she viewed Zhuifeng had a hint of looking at a junior, and also a sense of deep care that grew from an act of kindness.

Overall, it leaned toward the mild doting of an elder towards a younger, but Zi Xing’s focus at this time was more on Mo Xiaofei.

An ordinary person—what abilities or qualities does he possess to catch Master Long’s interest in accepting him as a disciple?

It’s unknown what special attributes he might have.

“It’s starting!” The class representative brought by Mo Xiaofei appeared slightly nervous and expectant, her pretty large eyes fixated on the screen without blinking, seemingly not wanting to miss a second.

This movie about the Pen Immortal wasn’t shot domestically, thus avoiding many domestic indicators and benchmarks.

Instead of a good supernatural themed movie inevitably morphing into an ambiguous mystery, where it must depict human hearts as dark as ghosts to pass the censorship.

Nevertheless, its contents are exceedingly thrilling, rumored abroad to have frightened viewers to death during its premiere, becoming a hot topic for a while, seemingly pushed by some manipulative force, reminiscent of an insular country series of movies over a decade ago that also scared many to death.

As soon as it started, the atmosphere was enveloped in tension and silence—even though many had already read reviews online beforehand, understood the story’s direction, and character relations, regardless of how terrifying those who’ve seen it say it is, promising not to watch again, already mentally prepared, they were ultimately caught in a state of unease by the initial voice-over.

The atmosphere control was quite good, Zi Xing, watching a movie for the first time, was able to analyze the meaning and given information of each frame purely from an artistic perspective.

As a priestess of the Greedy Wolf Tribe, she inherently required dealing more with star constellations, the so-called upper body Heart of Heaven, naturally easier to see through the essence of things.

Adding in the influence from the Buddhist sect on the Siberian plateau, understanding cause and effect, those descriptions akin to being in the midst of trees were merely so to Zi Xing.

Unknowingly, Zi Xing simply gave up analyzing the story’s ultimate direction, chose to experience the viewing emotions purely as a movie-goer, lest she seemed too disinterested.

The dialogues between characters in this movie are rather few, most are silent scenes, the environmental filming was decent…

Occurring in a remote, seemingly idyllic village…

The first dozen minutes can even be described as a landscape documentary.

The sudden arrival of a downpour, the female protagonist trapped in the rented house, inadvertently discovers the brush and ink on the attic.

When the female protagonist, bored, grabs the brush to write on the rice paper pressed by a stone, a faint hand seems to stretch out from the void, tightly clutches the protagonist’s fingers, moves the brush with her, eerie music suddenly rings out, gripping everyone’s heartstrings.

Yet the female protagonist seems completely unaware of her hands being tightly clutched by something, only showing a strange smile.

At this point in the film, Zi Xing suddenly frowned, her lips moved slightly, silently reciting, “Is this…spiritual writing?

How can an ordinary human movie demonstrate such spiritual writing techniques?

Looking at the patterns drawn by the pen tip, first glance seems meaningless, yet upon deeper thought, it’s remarkably profound…”

Her surprise grew, her gaze became even more focused, as if something was drawing her in, gradually her entire mind seemed captivated, being pulled out of herself without realizing.

However, she, being a priestess, even now wounded, weakened, her Divine Soul still possesses a warning ability, she began reclaiming herself from this pull, recovering.

“Wake up, wake up!”

Zi Xing’s gaze returned, as she was about to thoroughly think about the nature of this force, she suddenly noticed something was amiss, she was no longer seated in the cinema chair, the surroundings weren’t dim, but a bright day, before her a kindly woman looked at her with concern.

Zi Xing’s lips moved slightly, only to discover she lay beneath blankets, surrounded by wooden beams.

As she abruptly sat up, she realized she wasn’t lying on a bed, merely thick blankets laid upon tatami.

Beside was a small dresser for women’s grooming, with a copper mirror on it, reflecting a face of slight surprise.

Zi Xing frowned, the reflection in the copper mirror was surprisingly herself…

But not in her original appearance.

Upon hearing the nearby woman speaking more anxiously, “Miss Tsukihime, are you alright?

Don’t scare me…”

Tsukihime… Kondo Tsukihime?

Information about this identity suddenly emerged in Zi Xing’s mind—Kondo Tsukihime, the lady of the City Lord of Hongye City.

Here…

Could this be the world within the movie?!

But how did I get involved in this strange place…

Is it only me, or everyone in the cinema facing the same situation?

Could it be related to that spiritual writing drawing shown in the movie scenes?

…

…

Wang Yuechuan comes from the provincial bureau, and this city itself isn’t a provincial capital, merely an ordinary prefecture-level city, but its economic development has consistently ranked among the top…

Yet despite this, officers like Wang Yuechuan from the provincial bureau are still somewhat superior, naturally having more privileges.

Requests like entering a morgue won’t meet much obstruction—to bring along a foreign elder outside the system might be cumbersome, but not overly difficult.

After all, places storing victims of unjust deaths, ordinary visitation is common—such as relatives or friends claiming deceased bodies.

Professor Cui Fo accompanied Wang Yuechuan under such an identity inside.

Of course, as it is a place that emphasizes discipline, even when things are relaxed, there are still police officers accompanying Professor Cui Fo and Wang Yuechuan to guard the morgue.

The convenience…

is just a simplification of the procedure, things that should be recorded still need to be written into the files.

This officer is in his fifties, nearing retirement age, but his hair is almost completely bald, his lips slightly purple, and he seems to be in poor health.

“Officer Wang, which cabinet should I open?” The old officer asked directly, preparing to open the cold storage for the body.

Wang Yuechuan glanced at Professor Cui Fo.

These two, as newly appointed mages, have been converting Yin spirits into sources of magic power through mysterious rituals.

Now, they can easily sense the presence of Yin spirits, even if without the aid of the ritual’s array, they can’t directly observe them.

However, that familiar feeling can’t be concealed.

Moreover, the morgue is chilly and somber…

the residual Yin spirits here are certainly not comparable to those buried in ancient mass graves.

Professor Cui Fo nodded at this moment, gazing at the old policeman and slowly said, “Just open any one.”

It should have been Wang Yuechuan giving the orders, but this strange old man…

The old officer was momentarily stunned, but when he met the gaze of this strange old foreigner, he seemed to lose his senses, his eyes gradually becoming vacant.

At this moment, Professor Cui Fo’s gaze seemed to have a starlight flicker, but then it disappeared—a capability born from the combination of the theories in “The Book of the Dead” and his own deductions and experiments, akin to hypnosis.

Generally, hypnotists require various preparations, both covert and overt, along with setting up conditions for complete relaxation of the subject, sometimes even involving drugs.

Only then could they succeed.

But for those who control magic power, it is free from all these troubles.

“Okay…

okay,”

The old officer nodded blankly, took out a ring of keys, selected one, opened a cold chamber, and pulled out a body wrapped in a black bag, cold air from the freezer intertwining around.

The old officer then unzipped the bag, revealing a ‘dead person’s face,’ with a shattered head and distorted features, probably due to a car accident.

Professor Cui Fo glanced at it and immediately felt a queasy stomach, quickly saying, “No need to open it!”

Even though they have begun to see themselves as transcendent, how could one’s mindset become transcendent all at once?

Seeing the professor’s intolerable reaction, Wang Yuechuan remained silent.

“You can go out now, when you wake up, just remember that we didn’t identify it and had left early.”

Professor Cui Fo waved his hand at this moment, directly instructing the old officer, “Also, replace yesterday’s surveillance footage from the empty hours and cover it with our time here…

until tonight before twelve.”

Tonight is Christmas Eve, it’s very lively outside, and the young staff are eager to leave unless there’s another task such as traffic police duties.

Others have little mind for work, let alone visiting the morgue at such a time.

In half an hour, it will be time to leave work, even if someone intends to identify bodies, it won’t be processed until tomorrow morning.

Thus, for an entire night, the two of them could do as they pleased in the morgue.

“Let’s begin,” Wang Yuechuan said calmly at this moment.

Professor Cui Fo then started taking out various crystals for the ritual array, quietly working on them—while the old officer, after closing the door and leaving, sat in the outside office, collapsed on the desk, and fell asleep.

However, at this moment, behind the old officer, strands of black mist began gathering, gradually forming a figure in a black robe, letting out a low and hoarse laugh.

It was No.

18, a Black Soul, who had failed a task but endlessly indulged in its own playful games.

…

Officer Ma wasn’t playing Minesweeper in his office, instead he was watching the time on the wall clock—being an officer dedicated to his duty, he would rarely expect the end of the shift like today.

Of course, it’s not like those young folks outside, because it’s Christmas Eve, because it’s a big ‘day’ for dates…

though he did arrange to dine with his wife, Mrs.

Ma, at a restaurant outside.

But Officer Ma wasn’t planning a dinner with his wife due to the festival; instead, it was to celebrate something—Mrs.

Ma’s unexpected pregnancy.

Officer Ma last became a father twenty years ago, never expecting to have a child at this age, was even more excited than the first time he became a father.

But Mrs.

Ma doesn’t like to make it public, so it hasn’t been widely announced, just waiting until she can’t conceal her belly anymore, then just let it be.

“Tsk tsk, my prowess hasn’t diminished with age!” Officer Ma chuckled foolishly in his office, “If I remember correctly, wasn’t it during those days over the Golden Week on the Baiyu Cruise?”

Thinking about the two astonishingly invigorating nights on the Baiyu Cruise, where he seemed to have unparalleled strength as if helped by a deity, Officer Ma subconsciously felt weak in the knees with a lingering sense of dread.

Rubbing his chin, he said mysteriously, “Does that mean I should thank Ren Ziling, that darn girl?

Maybe she’ll even extort me!

But…

where exactly did those oysters come from?

So potent!!”

As he indulged in whimsical thoughts, the office door opened, and there was his top aide…

Lin Feng.

“Officer Ma, I just saw Officer Wang,”

“What?

Officer Wang, which Officer Wang?” Ma Houde was taken aback and instinctively asked.

“Wang Yuechuan!” Lin Feng blinked: “The one who looks spectacular as a ‘special officer,’ haven’t you forgotten?”

“That guy…” Ma Houde nodded.

Ever since the remedial class case was temporarily closed, Wang Yuechuan almost disappeared, behaving mysteriously, who knows what he was doing, “What’s he doing back here this time?

Really is a single dog!”

“I heard he seems to have gotten some formalities done, then went to the morgue,” Lin Feng shrugged, “It seemed like he brought someone along, probably for claiming a body or something?

I’m not really sure.”

There’s still some time before the shift ends, Ma Houde rubbed his chin, feeling a bit peeved like an outsider is meddling on his turf, so he stood up: “Let’s go have a look!”
