685: Chapter 98: Coexistence…

Is It Possible?

From the mouths of the Samurai and clergy who were hunting him, Zhuifeng had already gained some understanding of this strange place…

Additionally, making him feel curious were the occasional memories of the original owner of the dog monster’s body.

As a Demi-Demon, not only was he rejected by his kind but he also faced hostility from humans.

He was always wandering in the outside world without any friends, gradually developing an eccentric personality.

“This Inuyasha…” Zhuifeng looked at that lock of snow-white hair he never had and murmured, “is so similar to me.”

Zhuifeng had a feeling that the reason he had become what he was now might be because of this similar experience.

After inquiring from these Samurai that this place is near Famen Mountain, some information he received while watching the movie also became clear.

However, while watching the movie, Zhuifeng was almost always paying attention to Zi Xing, barely focusing on what the movie was about, only vaguely remembering that at the beginning it seemed to mention a place like Zaodao Village—unlike Mo Xiaofei, who had already seen the follow-up plot online.

Naturally, he was unaware of the movie’s content.

“Inuyasha seems to be planning to go to Zaodao Village too?” Zhuifeng lay on a branch of an ancient tree, legs crossed, hands behind his head, watching the blue sky and white clouds, slowly emptying his mind—daydreaming.

He found that in doing so, more memories about Inuyasha would surface.

Thinking, Zhuifeng took out a book from his embrace and started reading—there was a bunch of text he couldn’t understand, so eventually, he just let the book cover his face, getting drowsy…

“No, no!

I have to find Zi Xing!” Zhuifeng suddenly jumped down from the ancient tree, then stuffed the book into his clothes.

The origins of this book were unknown, but ever since he took over Inuyasha’s body, he always carried it…

perhaps it was something important—anyway, carrying it wasn’t a burden.

Since even he, who rarely paid attention, remembered Zaodao Village, perhaps Zi Xing should remember it too…

Since it’s nearby, he might as well go and see.

He was unaware of how he looked now as a Demi-Demon, in the original world’s city, monsters had long been accustomed to freely wandering the streets in human form.

In front of a teahouse along the canal, sniffing the aroma of food, Zhuifeng, who remembered that he hadn’t eaten in a long time, immediately felt hungry and hurried forward, looking at the slightly chubby lady boss, “Do you have anything to eat here?”

While teaching a lesson to those Samurai and clergy hunting him, he also acquired some money from them.

He remembered how Zi Xing disapproved of his opportunistic behavior, so he simply paid generously.

Unexpectedly, this slightly chubby lady boss saw this guy suddenly appearing in front of her in a big red robe, barefoot, and white-haired, froze in place, shivered, and screamed in horror, “Monster!!”

“Wait, wait…”

“Don’t…

don’t eat me…

don’t eat me…”

Seeing not just the lady boss, but even all the patrons at the teahouse ducks behind the building frightened, each curling up in various corners holding their heads, Zhuifeng reached out to speak but eventually sighed.

He shook his head and decided to ignore the humans’ fear, sitting down carelessly on the long bench in front of the teahouse, grabbing stack after stack of colorful dumplings from a shelf and eating them.

While eating, Zhuifeng couldn’t help but find it amusing, recalling how back when he was even smaller, wandering other cities, he’d played pranks revealing his monster traits to humans lots of times, scaring many of them into screams.

Back then, he found it amusing and felt a vengeful thrill.

When he settled in the city where Godly Land lay, he didn’t do such things anymore—because it was forbidden by Lord Long.

People seemed to have forgotten monsters existed…

unlike this mainland, where legends of monsters spread, with tales of gods descending often told as well.

Monsters could even wander around brazenly.

“If one day…” Zhuifeng mused aloud, “we can walk down the street openly too, without concealing ourselves, doing the same things with humans, going to amusement parks, watching movies, eating, attending school without hiding our identity, then going to work together—what would it be like?”

Having finished a dish of dumplings, surprisingly full, Zhuifeng shook his head self-deprecatingly.

Even the Godly Land couldn’t accomplish such things; what could a small monster like him do?

He just stood back up then, leaving some money on the bench.

Watching those still cowering humans reaffirmed how unrealistic his thoughts were.

After all, not everyone was like Mo Xiaofei’s big brother, who would even risk his life to save him knowing he was a monster…

“I’ve left the money here.

I promised someone not to dine and dash…

Also, I don’t eat humans!

Lady boss, your stuff tastes good!”

Much later, the people from the teahouse emerged with trepidation, only to find no trace of the white-haired monster in the big red robe.

The lady boss stared at the bag of money left on the bench, incredulously picking it up, “A monster that doesn’t eat people…

and even pays after eating, could there truly be such a monster?”

But recalling the monster legends, reports of monsters eating people kept appearing everywhere, the lady boss shivered again—how could there be such monsters?

If that were true, would they still be monsters?

Cold sweat beaded on her forehead, she prompted thought of the money bag as something cursed or evil, quickly throwing it into the furnace and only relaxing slightly once it turned to ashes.

Still sensing it might not be safe enough, she considered visiting a nearby temple the next day for a cleansing ritual with a high priest.

…

…

In Bamboo’s home, an ordinary small village household made of wooden planks, Mo Xiaofei, unaccustomed to sitting on his knees, sat cross-legged on the floor eating the prepared food.

“Respected Samurai, though you gave us Gold Coins, we should at least prepare white rice for you, unfortunately, our village had a poor harvest this year…”

It was Bamboo’s father, Xizhilang, who spoke, looking thoroughly respectful and fearful.

These people certainly show a lot of reverence for Samurai…

Perhaps it can be counted as a cultural aspect?

Mo Xiaofei didn’t mind much, eating the simple meal while pondering, “Where did you say that Mrs.

Witch’s Shrine was located?”

“It’s on that mountain, at mid-level,” Xizhilang hurriedly opened a window, propping it up with a stick, then pointed to the mountain ahead.

“Hmm…

Mr.

Xizhilang, could I stay here tonight?” Mo Xiaofei thought a while and asked directly.

With a difficult look, Xizhilang glanced at his wife and daughter before biting the bullet, nodding, and replying shakily, “Alright, Respected Samurai…

I’ll have Bamboo prepare for you.”

The girl shivered slightly hearing this, lowered her head, and didn’t dare speak…

Mo Xiaofei, preoccupied with thoughts of Mrs.

Witch and the Shrine, focusing on the plot trajectory, naturally paid little attention to the family’s odd reactions.
