659: Chapter 72: Gloomy Skies Without Sunshine 659: Chapter 72: Gloomy Skies Without Sunshine Later, Zhu Maolin suggested to Hou Chen Yuhuan to take a casual walk outside, as he had taken leave to come today.

He brought two bottles of water, handing one to Hou Chen Yuhuan, as polite as ever, even more so than when they first met.

But there was no longer that heartbeat sensation.

As if she knew why her husband, who never came here, was here today, Hou Chen Yuhuan maintained silence along the way.

No matter what topic is used as an entry point, it ultimately falls into a cold stance, so it’s better to say nothing and maintain some long-established tacit understanding.

Yes, perhaps there’s still a trace of such understanding. “How about.”/”How about…” “You go first…”/”Why don’t you go ahead.” “Then…”/”Why not…”

Both diverted their gazes, continuing on the path, as if neither had the courage to talk about what would happen after ‘why not’… yet the guilt of Zhu Maolin was, indeed, deeper.

He stopped walking, while Hou Chen Yuhuan instinctively continued a few more steps.

This time, his time stood still, hers flowed.

He watched her back, ultimately choosing to completely stop his time, allowing hers to flow more thoroughly, “We… should divorce.”

Hou Chen Yuhuan trembled slightly; she didn’t stop or look back, as if not hearing, just continued forward… eventually vanishing in the cemetery.

Zhu Maolin stared blankly at her disappearing point, silently saying in his heart: After all, you… are still young.

How could he deprive her of her rights as a woman, even in love.

Not long after, Zhu Maolin also left the cemetery, unwilling to return to the company or that home, driving aimlessly down the highway.

Even after finally saying this, there was no sense of relief.

Cloudy, windless. … …

A cloudy and windless day felt somewhat somber, especially encountering such weather in winter, directly giving someone an awfully bad feeling.

Perhaps it was as if something was weighing on her soul… she just dumbly stared at the grey and black sky.

Yin Greedy Wolf still did not react—the first call upon waking today went unanswered.

Indeed it was due to severe injuries… of course, also because, unwilling to absorb too much vitality from the Wolf Clan warriors sacrificed, leading to the current state where Yin Greedy Wolf’s power could not be harnessed.

The monster who called himself Zhuifeng, hid quietly aside, looking at her—when she woke, the first thing she saw was this little monster who brought her back.

After putting down a set of clothes, he suddenly hid, peeking stealthily… This fellow, should be under fifty years old.

Her hands too heavy to move much, barely discerned the kid’s demonic power was not strong.

Yet oddly, there was a strange feeling of closeness.

Such an ordinary earth wolf imp, why did she feel this odd sensation? “Come over, no need to hide.” She shook her head, and called toward Zhuifeng’s hiding spot.

After a while, Zhuifeng stiffly walked out, his movements rigid as if covered in glue, which made her instinctively smile.

The beast girl’s shallow smile since injury couldn’t completely maintain a human form. “My name is Zi Xing.”

After all, he had saved her life, she had no reason not to tell Zhuifeng her name. “Zi, Miss Zixing!

Hello!

I, I’m Zhuifeng!” Zhuifeng stood upright, chest out, hands tight at his sides, like a soldier on guard, his gaze floating to the distant sky, not daring to face Zi Xing directly. “Didn’t you already introduce yourself?” Zi Xing smiled, Zhuifeng’s expression reminded her of the Siberian plateau children who revered her—a similar tension, fearing missteps might lose her attention. “Is… that so.” Zhuifeng awkwardly scratched his head.

As a female monster, he’d naturally interacted with many, like Nini, a cat monster he often played with… Despite Nini’s cheese obsession, Zhuifeng never felt this tense playing with her.

Unable to stop his heart from beating, nor his eyes from glancing at her lips, pale like cherry blossoms, and purple pupils.

T “Have you lived in this city for a long time?” Zi Xing asked, noting Zhuifeng’s continued nervousness, “Where are your parents?

Why do you live here alone?” “My parents… are gone.” Zhuifeng’s nervousness vanished, replaced by melancholy.

Quickly regaining spirit, he wiped his nose, “But I have a group of good friends.

They’re my family, worth protecting with my life.” “That’s great.”

Zi Xing looked at Zhuifeng, longing. “What about you?

Where’s your family?” Zhuifeng sat cross-legged, looking up at Zi Xing on the makeshift wooden bed he assembled himself. “Me?” Zi Xing softly said: “I don’t have parents either.

But I have a brother.” “Brother, huh…”

Not knowing how it feels to have siblings, but perhaps it’s similar to how cheese feels… Zhuifeng thought, it might not differ much from a biological brother.

Zi Xing suddenly coughed, holding her chest.

Zhuifeng quickly stood up, “Do you know Master Long?

I see your injury won’t heal quickly, how about I take you to her?

She should be able to heal you.

But, Master Long seems to be away… No worries, there’s Xiao Long’er, Mr.

Gui’s disciple, her medical skills should be excellent!”

Zi Xing didn’t know who Xiao Long’er was, but she watched Zhuifeng, frowning, “You…

Are you familiar with that master?”

A dominant figure over the demon tribe… associated with this ordinary little earth wolf? “No, not really.” Zhuifeng scratched his head, “Actually Master Long treats us all kindly, especially us immature ones.

Yeah, people often visit Master Long’s hospital, even if not sick, just to chat.

Though Master Long can be blunt, occasionally has some peculiar hobbies?” “Really.” Zi Xing nodded.

Never having met the demon tribe’s Master Long—living high on the plateau, barely encountering China’s few monsters who braved the cold.

Unknown in person, known by name…

For Zi Xing, Master Long carried deeply vibrant hues, yet hearing Zhuifeng, perhaps a more approachable figure. “What do you think?” Zhuifeng asked, “I didn’t know your situation before, so feared bringing you might cause trouble… But now it should be fine.”

Zi Xing looked at Zhuifeng, suddenly said: “So now you’re not afraid I might be a bad monster?”

Zhuifeng hesitated, then earnestly said: “I don’t know why, but I always feel you won’t harm me… can’t harm me.

So, it should be fine.”

Won’t harm you, indeed—saved her life… but can’t harm?

Zi Xing felt amused, certainly due to serious wounds leading the little monster to see her as another little creature. “Thank you for your kindness.” Zi Xing shook her head, “But these injuries I can heal myself, no need to trouble that master.” “Alright then…” Zhuifeng showed slight disappointment, then said: “Anything I can help you with?”

Zi Xing thought for a moment, suddenly said: “Could you help find some herbs?

An ordinary herbal shop should have them, provided they’re genuine.” “No problem!” Zhuifeng patted his chest, standing up, “I’ll do it now!”

With that, he leapt onto the rooftop railing, about to leave when Zi Xing hurriedly called, “Wait, I haven’t told you which herbs I need!” “Ah?” Zhuifeng froze.

Then, he stepped off the rooftop, falling down… down…

Zi Xing instinctively worried, crawling up, yet saw Zhuifeng holding the railing, recovering, exclaiming how close it was.

Zi Xing covered her lips, laughing lightly, finding this little monster… so amusing.

Beautiful, Zhuifeng stared, entranced.

Cloudy, windless… but still fine.

Wishing to remain here forever.
