I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 42 - 42 41 Collapse42: Chapter 41 Collapse 42: Chapter 41 Collapse On the third day of continuous rain, Mu Ying spent her morning not only taking care of the plants in the Plantation but also managing the small vegetable plots in the camp.

Fortunately, her natural sense had improved, allowing her to use her natural vision to take a look and screen through, which didn’t take much effort.

Overnight, many seedlings had grown and blossomed with small flowers.

“Mu Ying, you’ve been working hard!”

“Tough work, Mu Girl!”

...

Clearly, Mu Ying wasn’t the only one concerned with the small vegetable plots.

Today, many rose earlier than usual specifically to check on the vegetables they had planted the day before.

The vigorous growth of the seedlings lifted everyone’s spirits considerably.

No one knew when the rain would stop, and many with few savings had decided to risk going out in the rain to kill zombies.

But as each person passed by the small vegetable plots, they couldn’t help but stop and look; this was the fruit of everyone’s labor, and the harvest was soon to come.

Yesterday’s planting activities throughout the camp had brought Mu Ying closer to others, and now more people greeted her when they met her.

Many people’s names were ones Mu Ying couldn’t even recall, mostly just familiar faces to her.

Facing others’ greetings, Mu Ying could only try her best to return a smile.

“The houses in Qingshan Town have collapsed!”

“What?”

“Are the people from Coastal Safety Zone okay?”

“Mu Ying, are you busy?

Have you eaten yet?”

Mu Ying nodded her head, “I have, what were you saying about the situation in Qingshan Town?”

“Sigh, we went out to hunt zombies this morning, and when we reached the mountain entrance to Forest Park, we felt something was off—the mountain paths had rotted away, and the cement steps had turned into ash.

Looking down the mountain, sure enough, the houses in Qingshan Town had collapsed.

There were people all over the town square.

When we went over and asked, we learned that since the rain started, not only had the pre-apocalypse food gone bad, but the houses and roads were also deteriorating quickly.

They completely gave way last night.

Luckily, the houses didn’t collapse all at once, so there weren’t many deaths, but there were quite a few injuries.

Some zombies were attracted there, and we went to pick up what was left.

The scouts brought news that there are also a number of zombies coming from the direction of Coastal City.

We came back to call more people!

Are you interested in joining?”

“Hmm, taking a look might be a good idea.”

“Great!

We’ll gather at the camp entrance in half an hour.”

Mu Ying nodded in agreement, then went back to her Tree House to grab a bite to eat, and afterwards, she took out the Piercing Spear from her Storage Pouch.

“Gungun, you stay here to watch the house; if you get hungry, just take some money and get something to eat at the restaurant,” she told him.

Gungun patted his chest, indicating this was no problem!

Before leaving, she applied the Tree Skin Skill to herself.

Yes, she had finally learned this Spell, though her casting speed was a bit slow, she could now affect all the skin on her body.

Mu Ying poked her palm with the Piercing Spear, but her skin remained unbroken.

To understand the significance, the Piercing Spear had an added 10 points of Penetration Power; a light poke could even leave a dent in a loaf of black bread.

The Tree Skin Skill was a continuous spell; at her current level, casting it once could last for three hours—extremely convenient.

Heading out with the Tree Skin Skill, she wore Cowhide Chest Armor and an additional straw coat over it, feeling very secure.

When Mu Ying arrived at the camp entrance, a large group of people had already gathered there.

“Mu Ying!”

Seeing Nie Ying and others waving to her, Mu Ying walked over.

“Sigh, what about those people down the mountain?

I heard there’s a big group of them hiding out in the camp, too scared to face the zombies,” Zheng Jing exclaimed, “Sometimes I’m really thankful for our past experiences, otherwise I’m not sure I would have been able to take the plunge.”

“Don’t fret over such things.

In times like these, if it’s not one dead end, it’s another.

They might still be harboring hopes that the authorities will protect them!”

Nie Ying said irritably.

“Alright, everyone’s here; let’s get moving!” Li Wei said loudly.

This time, they were the ones leading the organization.

As Mu Ying climbed the mountain where the entrance to Forest Park was located, she noticed a striking difference.

The trees here were tall, the sunlight sparse among the forest, and previously it only supported wild grass and shrubs.

Later, several mountains on the perimeter of Qingshan Forest were included in Forest Park, and the mountains were covered with cement stairways and paths, especially the outermost one.

The entrance to Forest Park was located here, with asphalt pedestrian paths laid out along the main route into the mountain, complete with lookout platforms.

The wild grass among the trees had also been cleared and replaced with uniform plantings of asparagus.

But until the apocalypse arrived, this asparagus didn’t grow very well; bare soil was visible everywhere in the woods.

But now, the lush leaves crowded together, covering the forest floor and even flowering.

Clusters of flower spikes stood proudly among the encircling leaves.

The color of the flowers was also a bit off.

Normally, they should be a pinkish purple, but now they were a mix of pink, pinkish purple, pinkish blue, light purple, purple-red, deep purple, sky blue, fog blue, and deep blue...

Mixed together, they looked oddly pleasant.

If she weren’t in such a rush to get down the mountain, she would definitely have stayed to see if these asparagus had any new changes.

The original paths and lookout platforms had completely vanished, only the leftover open spaces indicating their prior existence.

From a distance, Mu Ying could also see the ruins below the mountain, appearing even more fragmented than if they had been struck by a major earthquake.

Even before reaching the mountain’s base, she could hear the noisy voices of people.

It turned out that the people from the safety zone at the foot of the mountain had all been moved up the mountain; the official warriors were blocking the mountain pass, and beyond them, zombies were drawn by the scent.

And more zombies kept coming in waves.

The warriors in the front row had already been wounded numerous times.

Although becoming professionals meant they wouldn’t become infected and turn into zombies, the smell of blood continued to lure them.

From this range, the effect of the blood scent generated by so many people was exceptional at attracting them, and the incomers from the camp were also shocked by this scene.

The number of zombies was more than they had anticipated.

Although the ones that had reached this far weren’t too many, it was clear that this was just a prelude, and the numbers would increase over time.

“Are there too many zombies?”

“Are all the zombies from Coastal City heading this way?”

“With just us, I guess we won’t last much longer!”

Seeing this, Mu Ying found several team leaders, “Most of the people from the camp are here now.

Since we can’t hold the base of the mountain, why don’t we lure the zombies to the camp!”

“But there are still so many people here, and probably some who can’t even afford the entrance fee,”

someone inevitably worried.

“If they continue staying here, they’ll just meet with the same death.

It’s better to have them scatter and leave.

We’ll hold off here for a while to attract the zombies.

Once most of them are gone, we can lead the zombies into the camp.

Using the camp, we can fend them off,”

Mu Ying thought those who dared to fight and face danger were much more valuable than those hiding behind, and losing even one of them was painfully regrettable.

Especially since they didn’t know what other dangers the future might hold.

Perhaps pushing these hopeful and lucky ones would make them see reality.

Human potential is infinite.

“Mu Ying is right; we can withstand one wave of such a large-scale zombie attack, but not the second or third.

We need rest if we’re in bad shape,” Li Wei shared the same thoughts.

“I agree!” Nie Ying also declared her stance.

It wasn’t just one or two people who felt displeased with the rest; there were no old, weak, or sick among them, as those had been eliminated when the zombies descended at the apocalypse.

Moreover, since the houses didn’t collapse all at once, giving ample time to escape, most merely suffered minor external injuries during the escape, far less severe than the wounds of the warriors in the front rows.
