Chapter 41 - 41 40 Crosshair41: Chapter 40 Crosshair 41: Chapter 40 Crosshair In the afternoon, Mu Ying continued practicing the Tree Skin Skill in the tree house.

“Sigh, level 2 spells are really tough!”

As Mu Ying practiced, she lamented that she had also practiced this spell for half of the previous day with little progress, always unable to quickly affect the skin over her entire body.

After casting the spell, the hardness of her skin had not yet reached the expected level.

Moreover, a level 2 spell consumed 10 Mana Value each time it was cast, and that was after she managed to control her casting technique well, otherwise, it would waste some Mana Value.

With her current Mana Value, she could cast at most 10 Tree Skin Skills, so high-frequency practice was not feasible.

After depleting her Mana Value once again, Mu Ying decided to first venture into Trial World, curious about the place that looked like a house she saw yesterday.

Armed with sufficient food, weapons, and a single bed, Mu Ying left the high mountain where she had lived for several days.

Following a tributary flowing toward the oak forest, Mu Ying hurried along the route.

Before sunset, Mu Ying finally saw the scene she had encountered the day before from afar.

She was not mistaken; it was a village.

Unfortunately, it was almost dark, so Mu Ying could only pull out her single bed to get some sleep.

[You have survived 1 day in Square World as the Trial Character Mu Ying, earning Source Power × 1]

When she opened her eyes again, the sunset had turned into sunrise.

Mu Ying got up, stowed the bed back into her backpack, and holding a stone sword, approached the village.

Outside the village was a vast expanse of farmland growing wheat and pasture, all ripe but unharvested.

The high watchtower at the entrance of the village was also unguarded.

The houses in the village were smaller than she had imagined, and she could see the simple layouts through the windows.

The Square people were moving back and forth inside the houses, seemingly just getting up.

Mu Ying, a complete stranger in the village, surprisingly did not attract their attention at all.

However, they showed no intention to attack her, and they didn’t respond to conversation, as if living in their own world.

If it weren’t for “Ordinary Villager” written above their heads, Mu Ying might have thought they were some form of corpses.

After all, they were clumps of various colored mosaics, not much different in shape from rotten corpses.

Mu Ying observed for a while but couldn’t figure out what they were doing walking in and out of the houses.

She could only find a lone Ordinary Villager and tapped him.

“Ah!”

[Ordinary Villager]

[Property: Wheat Seeds]

[Request: Bread]

[Would you like to trade 2 bread for 20 wheat seeds?]

Mu Ying was startled by the villager’s strange cry and then saw the newly appeared dialogue box, “Can we trade?”

She decisively clicked ‘No’, and the Ordinary Villager returned to wandering around the house.

She had a large wheat field of her own, and each harvest always yielded twice the wheat seeds.

There were plenty stored in the cave’s box, so there was no need to trade.

Mu Ying grew interested and tapped each villager one by one to see if they had any good items.

The needs of Ordinary Villagers varied widely, including meat, apples, eggs, wool, leather, etc., but most of the items they possessed were not greatly valued by Mu Ying.

Either she did not need them, or she could obtain them herself.

“Eh?

This villager seems a bit different?”

Other villagers had nothing on them, only this one had a bow and arrows on his back.

Mu Ying went up and tapped him.

[Hunter]

[Property: Wooden Bow, Arrows, Crosshair]

[Request: Bread, Chicken Feathers, Pork]

She briefly overlooked the wooden bow and arrows, but her eyes caught on the Crosshair.

What was that?

[Would you like to trade 100 bread for the Skill Book Sight?]

Skills?

You could actually learn skills in this world!

Although she didn’t know what it really was, she had never seen a Skill Book and wanted to exchange it to see what it was for.

She looked at the bread in her backpack, had eaten a few from the pack she brought, and was still short of enough to make the exchange.

Right, there were wheat fields outside the village!

These villagers were so rigid, even more NPC-like than the shopkeepers in her camp, so getting some wheat shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Mu Ying ran to the village outskirts where the wheat fields were still deserted.

She harvested the wheat and, after thinking about it, replanted the seeds that had fallen.

Returning to the village, everything appeared normal.

She ran to the Hunter and exchanged for the Skill Book Sight, discovering it was a skill to aid in aiming.

After learning it, a crosshair would appear in the line of sight to mark the impact point when aiming with ranged weapons.

Mu Ying had made a Wooden Bow before, but her arrows always missed the mark.

So, she needed to learn a skill for that?

Eh?

It could be transformed?

Mu Ying poked the Skill Book, seeing the familiar transformation information.

[Crosshair]

[Function: After learning, a crosshair for aiding in aiming appears in the field of view]

[Physical Transformation: 100 Source Power/per time]

[Physical Description: General Skill Book Sight, effect same as the original skill]

[Source Power Transformation: Not transformable]

“!”

100 Source Power per time?

100 Source Power was one thing, but that “per time” was key — unlike a backpack, transforming this skill consumed a backpack as well as Source Power.

That meant, even if the Trial World character learned this Skill Book, she could still replicate another copy.

In that case, Mu Ying decided to learn it first.

Without a bow, she used stone to make some pebbles.

Sure enough, when she threw the pebbles, a small crosshair appeared in her vision, changing position as she aimed differently.

As long as she wasn’t too far away, she could hit the target every time with this crosshair, though the speed was much slower.

After transforming this skill into a physical object, the effect remained unchanged; once outside, it would definitely greatly enhance her accuracy.

There were also many ranged spells that required aiming.

Moreover, she could also set up a bow and arrows as a supplemental attack method apart from spells.

The more she thought about it, the more feasible it seemed, and Mu Ying wished she could immediately go back to the mountains to mine and quickly gather enough Source Power to exchange.

However, a trip here took a lot of time, so she decided to finish exploring the village first — maybe there were other villagers with desirable items?

Soon, Mu Ying discovered two special villagers in the village.

[Librarian]

[Possessions: Enchantment Book]

[Requirements: Gold Ingots, Diamond]

[Village Chief]

[Possessions: Villager Contract]

[Requirements: Broken Dungeon Core]

These two villagers seemed higher up than the Hunter, needing items Mu Ying didn’t possess.

The Librarian’s requirement for Gold Ingots and Diamonds was something Mu Ying could guess might be mined from the earth, but the Dungeon Core was unknown.

As for the Enchantment Book, although she had never seen one, there was a method to craft an Enchantment Table in her crafting recipe, which was used to enchant tools.

Clearly, the Enchantment Book was related to this.

The function of the Villager Contract was unclear to her, as contracts were generally used as proof of ownership, applicable to slaves, servants, or employed individuals?

Mu Ying kept these items in mind, planning to come back after collecting the necessary exchange materials.

It was nearly dark again, and she left the village before nightfall, taking out her Single Bed to lie down on.

Just in time as the Trial Time ended and the real Mu Ying woke up.
