I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 39 - 39 38 Storage Pouch39: Chapter 38: Storage Pouch 39: Chapter 38: Storage Pouch The door led to a mine tunnel she had dug out bit by bit, with a torch stuck into the stone walls on each side at intervals, burning perpetually and illuminating the entire mine brightly.

Mu Ying quickly made her way up to the topmost level and took out the stone pickaxe she had prepared from her backpack, hammering away at the stone in front of her.

After chiselling away about twenty-odd stones, a familiar block of black coal appeared; her spirits lifted, and she hurriedly dug towards it.

“One block, two blocks, three blocks... five blocks!”

Mu Ying watched as her Experience Bar inched forward a little more and finally reached the top.

[Your Trial World character Mu Ying has reached Level 3, gaining 3 Source Power]

Soon, very soon, the Storage Pouch would be in her hands!

The mine tunnel was filled with grey stones, each bearing identical patterns.

Mining required only a rhythm of hammering without much need for strength; a gentle tap was enough.

It was truly a monotonous task, yet Mu Ying dug with relish, for one never knew whether the next strike would reveal a piece of coal.

It gave a thrill akin to opening a mystery box, addicting to the core.

Now, even more so with the storage equipment she had long coveted hanging before her, her vigor was renewed, and the pickaxe swung faster.

As long as she attended to her energy, she wouldn’t feel tired.

When half the time had passed, she used the single bed she carried to quickly skip through the night.

[Your Trial World character Mu Ying has survived for 1 day, gaining 1 Source Power]

“46 points now!”

By the time she had completely hollowed out the mountain, she finally collected the last set of stones.

She opened her backpack, clicked on the coal blocks and stones within, and chose to convert them to Source Power.

[You have converted 2 sets of coal blocks and 10 sets of stones, gaining 4 Source Power]

She took out the backpack she had prepared earlier.

[Do you want to spend 50 Source Power to convert your backpack into a physical object?

After conversion, you will receive a Storage Pouch with a 10 cubic space.]

In the Square World where she had never seen another person, Mu Ying often talked to herself out of solitude.

Now, she couldn’t help but vocalize her inner thoughts, “Yes!”

The converted item would appear in the outside world; she’d have to go out to see it.

There was still some time left before today’s Trial Time ended.

Having just completed a goal, the tension she held suddenly relaxed, and Mu Ying started feeling a bit lazy.

She decided to dig a direct path to the mountaintop and climbed up to look into the distance.

Squared clouds, jagged mountain peaks, winding rivers, and an endless oak forest.

Huh?

Is that a house?

It really was!

Mu Ying stared in surprise at the deep parts of the oak forest.

Had it not been for her greatly enhanced Perception, boosting her vision, she would not have been so confident.

At the end of a tributary leading into the deep oak forest seemed to be a lake, and by that lake, something taller than the oaks, wooden in color, looked very much like houses.

Not just one or two.

She gazed intently in that direction.

Ever since learning that the Trial World was a fictional energy world, she had thought it probably didn’t contain intelligent beings, but now she realized she might have been mistaken.

She couldn’t help but recall the first night, the tattered clothes on those rotten corpses; they couldn’t have been people before, could they?

Mu Ying knew exactly what she looked like now: a mass of mosaic blocks, which seemed to only need a bit more black, green, and red to look not much different from the rotten corpses.

“If rotten corpses are transformed from people, then why were there no people around her during the day, and where did the rotten corpse come from?”

Mu Ying’s mind was filled with questions, but unfortunately, Trial Time was about to end, and she couldn’t investigate further.

After one last glance in that direction, she turned and crawled back into the mine, making it back to her stone chamber just before the Trial Time expired.

In the Tree House’s second floor, lying on the bed, Mu Ying opened her eyes, feeling as if something had been added to her hand.

She sat up abruptly, yanked the cloth covering the glowing cucumber at the head of the bed, and under the cucumber’s light, she clearly saw the object in her hand.

A palm-sized brown pouch, leather, embroidered with a familiar square face.

“...”

Wasn’t this the image of her trial character in Square World?

Facepalm—

This secret must not be known by a second person!

Mu Ying opened the clasp of the Storage Pouch, immediately sensing the space inside.

She looked around, grabbed the glowing cucumber hanging by the bed, and with one motion, moved it toward the opening of the pouch, where the cucumber disappeared from her hand, plunging the room back into darkness.

The next moment, she lightly tapped the clasp, thought of the glowing cucumber, and it reappeared, ejected by the pouch.

Mu Ying played with putting in and taking out the cucumber for a while before she finally calmed down.

Yuan Gungun laboriously brought his own little basket, tugging on the bedsheet.

“What’s up?”

Yuan Gungun extended his fluffy little paw, patted his own little basket, then pointed at Mu Ying’s Storage Pouch in her hand, his expression full of hope.

“...”

“That won’t work, your little basket can’t be turned into something like this, and there’s no storage equipment in the style of a basket, even if there were, your poor Master couldn’t afford it,” Mu Ying said helplessly, her Source Power now at zero.

Yuan Gungun placed one paw on his hip and pointed with the other at the pile of coins in the corner, as if to say, look at all this money right here!

“This was bought with a different kind of money, those won’t work, they’re all spent up!”

Mu Ying laughed at the little creature’s lively expressions and gestures, always feeling that the more it panicked and got angry, the cuter it became, especially with its look of accusation, pfft—hahaha!

Just to see it look like that, she wouldn’t buy it for the world!

Definitely not because she was out of money (whisper).

Frustrated and getting nowhere, Yuan Gungun resigned himself to fate, lying flat.

Alas, with such an unscrupulous Master, what could a little Iron-eating Beast do?

Wishes are endless; an unscrupulous Master won’t fulfill them.

No point trying hard anymore!

“Why are you so funny?”

Mu Ying carefully petted it from head to toe, concluding at last, “Gungun, you’ve gained weight again!”

This wasn’t fat, it was strong muscle!

Yuan Gungun continued its dispirited demeanor.

“Good boy, although you can’t have a storage-enabled little basket, this pouch can still carry some of your favorite food.

It’s just that the space isn’t very big, so we’ll have to use it sparingly.”

Mu Ying planned to use the Storage Pouch to carry some important belongings, such as her Piercing Spear.

Gungun’s beloved dark bread could also fit a few pieces, which could be emergency rations in dire situations or even weapons to throw at attackers.

With the pouch, she wouldn’t need to rely on Old Yellow Bull to carry stuff on distant trips anymore.

After all, plowing the fields was its primary job; carrying burdens was indeed too demanding, and that was only because previously, there was no alternative.

Moreover, it moved too slowly.

In the forest, she could travel faster on her own.

Besides, food from before the apocalypse had gone bad, and with a food crisis looming, she feared that if she took it outside, it might accidentally end up being slaughtered for its meat.
