I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 34 - 34 33 The Advance Team34: Chapter 33 The Advance Team 34: Chapter 33 The Advance Team “This is it, Qingshan Camp.”

“It’s truly magical.

Before the apocalypse, we used to come here for training, and there was nothing at all.”

Seven well-built, buzz-cut young men stood at the camp’s gate, clicking their tongues in wonder.

“This wall looks like it offers no protection, and it’s so low, can zombies really not break through?”

One of them said this as he reached out to punch the vine wall, only to see a ring of transparent ripples emanate from around his fist, preventing it from penetrating even an inch.

Another person beside him, seeing this, also stretched out his hand and punched at the air in front of him, and indeed, the same ripples appeared.

“This is a transparent air wall; I wonder how it works,” said one of the seven, with glasses, as he ran his hands over the air wall, “Could these vines be fake?”

“Old Four, Old Five, Old Six, stop studying the wall.

There’s a notice board here.”

“An entry fee of five copper coins per day, I guess many people can’t afford to get in.”

“You can’t randomly cut trees?

What kind of rule is that?”

“Those who severely damage the forest will be denied entry, and those who cut down too many trees will be charged double.

Is this camp run by environmentalists or something?”

“Enough, the main force is right behind us, let’s hurry up and pay to go in and take a look,” said the leader, counting out 35 copper coins, and slapped them against the Territory Shield.

“Who are you?” Early in the morning, Mu Ying had just come back to her senses from natural Perception, only to see these seven unfamiliar faces looking around like they were at a zoo.

Some even ran to the edge of the Plantation and studied the white mist barrier, scaring away the sparrows that had been on her shoulder.

This place was a hundred meters or so away from where the Tree Houses clustered and wasn’t close to the lake; early in the morning, apart from her, an early riser who was farming, not many people came this way.

“Miss, we are a reconnaissance squad from the Coastal Garrison; we just arrived at the camp today to scout the way for the main force behind us.

What’s this white foggy stuff?”

The military’s people?

They had finally arrived?

This was later than she had expected, but it was good news for Bruce, who had been yearning for a restaurant, and for her, there would be more little money to make.

“Ah?

This?

I don’t know, but you can’t get through it,” Mu Ying said with an innocent face, then pointed towards the direction of the Tree House cluster, “If you’ve just arrived, head over there to have a look.

That’s where all the shops are.”

“Alright, thanks!” several people headed in the direction Mu Ying had indicated.

“Why do I feel that girl is kind of strange, just standing in front of a tree not doing anything?” Laosan couldn’t help but look back, only to see her standing in front of another tree, lost in thought, and the sparrows that had just flown away had returned, quietly perching on her shoulder.

“Why do those sparrows keep looking this way?

Do I have the illusion that they’re watching us?”

Laowu shivered.

The squad’s brainiac, Laoliu, said gloomily, “I reckon she’s a Druid; Druids have a high affinity with animals.”

As they got closer to the Tree House area, the reconnaissance squad was even more amazed.

“Can this tree really support such a big Tree House?”

“Weird, there aren’t many homeless people in the camp.”

“These Tree Houses are ten copper coins a day, can many people afford that?”

Just out of bed and stepping out to breathe fresh air, Liu Luoluo saw seven tall and handsome young guys coming her way and her eyes lit up.

She hurried back inside and ran to Cheng Wei’s bedside to call her.

“Cheng Wei, hurry up and come see the handsome guys!”

“Handsome guys?” Cheng Wei perked up, bounced out of bed, and scrambled to the window, “Where?”

Looking in the direction Luoluo was pointing, Cheng Wei glanced over and quickly pulled back, “My goodness, really!

New people in the territory?”

“Luoluo, check if my hair is messy?”

Liu Luoluo ran her hands through Cheng Wei’s hair, “It’s fine.”

Both, excited, went out to gawk at the handsome guys.

“Hello, are you new to the camp?

We happen to have some time, do you need someone to show you around?”

“Thank you for your trouble.”

...

“What?

You’re from an official team?

From Coastal City?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Why are there only a few of you?”

“The main force is still behind.”

“Oh, I suggest you guys rent a Tree House first, it’s really cheap to share among a few people.

The accommodation is secondary; the main thing is having a place to store your things without worrying about security.

If you have enough money, you can even design your own house type and expand the area.

Look, our team has one of the only two expanded Tree Houses in the camp, there it is.”

“Is that one next to it the other?”

“Yes, do you know Mu Ying, the one at the top of the leaderboard?

She rented that one, a single person carrying a whole team.”

“That impressive?”

“Of course!

Look, there she is, appearing all mild, but she’s fierce when fighting zombies.”

“Is that her?”

Mu Ying, having routinely tended to the camp trees, planned to ride the bull out to plant trees.

She saw a few men who had just arrived today talking with Liu Luoluo and their group.

They were all looking at her, so she smiled and nodded in greeting, then climbed onto the back of the bull on her own.

After more than half a month of nourishment from Recovery Spring, Old Yellow Bull had become even more human-like.

Add on that in this period, Mu Ying had learned animal conversation, and her rapport with it was even stronger.

Without needing a rope, she patted its back and it let out a long moo, stepping out of the camp with an increasingly sprightly gait.

“So cool!” Laoqi exclaimed, their team looking on enviously as they saw both the sparrow and the bull.

“Indeed, riding a bull truly shows one to be a reclusive expert, returning to simplicity and nature,” Liu Luoluo agreed deeply.

“When we first entered the camp, we saw her staring at the tree.

What was she doing?”

Laosan still thought this person was rather strange.

“Sigh, that’s the Druid’s way of cultivation, seems like she’s feeling the natural power from the tree.

She gets up the earliest every morning to do this, and gains a lot of Experience.

Let me see, she got almost twenty Professional Experience points just this morning, which is even a bit less than the past two days.”

Liu Luoluo said while flipping through the leaderboard, checking the progress of the top players every day to motivate her own cultivation.

“That much?”

...

The vanguard team, guided by the kindness of Liu Luoluo and Cheng Wei, got a good grasp of Qingshan Camp and then left.

The main force had just reached Qingshan Town at this time.

The news brought back by the vanguard changed the entire team’s decision.

“There aren’t many zombies in the Forest Park anymore?”

“Right, there are also very few zombies on the side of Qingshan Town that’s close to the Forest Park.

Many can’t afford the camp entrance fee of five copper coins per day, and the overall environment isn’t that dangerous anymore.

I suggest setting up camp nearby outside the territory, establishing a safe zone, and only sending people to buy supplies in the camp when needed.

The camp has entry restrictions for those who recklessly destroy the forest, so the best spot is to the south of Qingshan Town, close to the Forest Park, with a river nearby and some farmland outside of town for growing crops.

There’s also a bakery in the camp with a type of black bread that’s large and cheap, three for one copper coin, which can feed many.

Additionally, the camp sells weapons, some with magical effects.

I suggest we equip the combat team with these to significantly enhance their fighting capability...”
