34: Chapter 34 Mercenaries! Golden Eagle on the Mountain PeakA few hours ago.

Amidst the rolling mountain ranges, within a dense berry forest, a small team of fully armed individuals was advancing toward a towering mountain.

Their direction was very deliberate; their target was precisely the mountain peak where Ye Yang resided!

”Agh, damn it, I’m exhausted. Everyone, stop and rest for a bit for your master.”

”Alright, Young Master Wang.”

A brightly dressed young man in the group shouted out in dissatisfaction, then plopped his butt down on a rock, gulping water as he rested.

The members of the armed squad exchanged helpless glances but followed the young man’s orders, resting on the spot and standing by.

”Boss! This guy is way too pretentious. How many times have we rested along the way? If it weren’t for him, we would have reached the destination and captured the target long ago.”

”Shut up. Why do you care so much? As long as there’s big money to be made, it’s fine!”

This armed squad consisted of international mercenaries, and the young man was their employer.

The boss pulled the dissatisfied member aside and whispered, ”These rich people can do whatever they want. We just have to listen to him. Remember, the reward for this mission is incredibly generous! A full one million daxia currency for each member!”

Hearing this, the mercenary’s eyes lit up, and he grinned.

”Got it, boss!”

The boss nodded and glanced sideways at the young man sitting on the rock playing with his phone, his eyes filled with disdain.

If it weren’t for the money, how could a group of top-tier mercenaries like them take orders from a wet-behind-the-ears kid?

The young man playing on his phone didn’t notice the mercenaries’ strange looks at all. Because he was a person with ’money-power,’ he wasn’t worried that these mercenaries, who valued wealth as much as their lives, would turn against him.

”Hmph! Don’t you guys just raise a tiger or a shark? Watch me bring back a prehistoric creature today to show off!”

”When that time comes, let’s see if you still dare to act all high and mighty in front of me!”

The young man’s identity was that of a cynical second-generation rich kid, and one of the top-tier ones in the Great Xia Kingdom at that.

Ye Yang’s previous video, broadcast by the outdoor streamer, had attracted many people’s attention, and he was no exception. It just so happened that he was traveling near Jianghai City.

Seeing the elegant and beautiful figure in the video, as well as the powerful strength—and hearing experts say the big white bird on the screen was a prehistoric creature—instantly sparked a peculiar idea in this rich kid’s mind.

People in his social circle kept rare animals like tigers and sharks. If he had a creature with such a beautiful appearance that was also a prehistoric animal extinct for ten thousand years as a pet, wouldn’t that be a huge boost to his status?

So, he hired a team of top mercenaries to come here to Jianghai City to capture that White-Feathered Giant Eagle.

Now, he shared this news with his group of rich second-generation best friends on social media.

As soon as the news broke, his friend group instantly exploded!

”That beautiful big bird is an extinct prehistoric creature! Young Master Li is really going to steal the spotlight this time!”

”Yeah! Why didn’t I think of going to Jianghai City to catch that White-Feathered Giant Eagle?”

”Sigh... That White-Feathered Giant Eagle is huge. Maybe after it’s tamed, it can carry people through the sky!”

”But it’s said that the White-Feathered Giant Eagle is very strong, with an explosive force of several tons. Is Young Master Wang confident?”

Seeing this, Young Master Wang, holding his phone, finally remembered that in the previous live stream footage, the White-Feathered Giant Eagle had been able to crush the skull of a truck-sized wild boar with one strike, and the speed it displayed was also quite astonishing.

Feeling a bit worried, he put down his phone and asked the Mercenary Captain not far away.

”Captain, are you confident you can deal with that White-Feathered Giant Eagle?”

The captain smiled. ”I understand what you mean, Young Master Wang. I’ve also watched the recording of the previous live stream. That White-Feathered Giant Eagle indeed possesses strength and explosive speed beyond human imagination!”

”But rest assured, Young Master Li. Although surveillance in your Great Xia Kingdom is strict and we couldn’t bring in our brothers’ heavy weaponry, we are fully confident in capturing this White-Feathered Giant Eagle alive!”

”No matter how powerful a creature is, it’s just a simple-minded animal. Every one of our mercenaries is rich in combat experience. How could we possibly let that White-Feathered Giant Eagle escape?”

Seeing the tall and sturdy Mercenary Captain’s confident look, the trace of unease in Young Master Wang’s heart vanished.

Although he was a rich second-generation, he wasn’t an idiot.

You get what you pay for; this mercenary team he hired was incredibly expensive, enough to make his heart ache for a month.

Moreover, seeing that every mercenary had a fierce aura that surpassed ordinary people, and considering that each of them carried a large amount of weapons and equipment...

This was already the equipment level of a special forces unit. How could they not be able to handle an animal?

...

Since they were about to reach their destination, the young Young Master Wang stopped dallying and reached the mountain peak in one go.

”Strange... Powerful animals are very sensitive to auras. Why haven’t we seen that White-Feathered Giant Eagle even though we’ve reached the summit?”

The Mercenary Captain looked at the empty mountain peak, unable to help his confusion.

”It might be in the cave. Everyone, be careful!”

The mercenaries slowly felt their way toward the cave, while simultaneously taking out specially prepared tranquilizer guns.

The tranquilizer guns had very long barrels, ensuring both penetration and accuracy. More importantly, the tranquilizer needles were specially treated; a single shot could knock out even the strongest African elephant on land within five minutes.

Entering the cave, the group saw a stalk of bamboo emitting a fluorescent glow in the darkness!

”What is that! Glowing Bamboo?”

”It must be something good! We’re going to be rich!”

”Skreieee!!!”

A piercing cry rang out, and simultaneously, a pair of glowing green eyes appeared in the depths of the dark environment!

”What’s that...”

”Ah!!!”

A gust of wind swept past, and a mercenary screamed!

At the same time, the smell of blood began to flow through the cave.

”Get out of the cave, fast!”

After all the mercenaries retreated from the cave, they found one person missing. An accident had surely occurred.

”Damn it! We were careless! If only we had prepared night-vision goggles!”

”The White-Feathered Giant Eagle is in the cave. Prepare for capture!”

Just then, a massive creature stepped out of the cave. But it wasn’t the snow-white White-Feathered Giant Eagle; it was a massive Golden Eagle!

It was a full two meters tall!

The Giant Golden Eagle was golden all over, with traces of blood on its beak. Beneath its thick, sharp talons was half of a mangled body. It looked incredibly ferocious.

”Where did the White-Feathered Giant Eagle go?! What a huge Golden Eagle!”

”Quick! Fire the tranquilizer needles!”

Swish, swish, swish!

The well-trained mercenaries immediately raised their prepared tranquilizer guns, and the needles flew rapidly toward the Golden Eagle’s massive body.

Clang, clang, clang!

The sound of metal clashing against stone rang out!

To their bewilderment, the tips of the tranquilizer needles striking the Golden Eagle’s body failed to penetrate; they all fell to the ground.

”How can this be...”

”Ah!”

A golden figure flashed, and the mercenary closest to it completely disappeared, leaving only a pool of blood in his place.

The Golden Eagle was covered in a layer of blood, and its cold, predatory eyes made all the mercenaries feel a chill throughout their bodies...
