10: Chapter 10 The Tiger King AppearsJust at the critical moment, the husky Dahei rushed in front of the wolf king, wagging his tail and letting out whines and barks.

The wolf king, who was about to give the order to attack, was stunned for a moment.

Was this one of the pack?

No! The scent was wrong! And this wolf was a black wolf!

”Awoo...”

The wolf king let out a call to the grey wolves beside him. Several grey wolves looked at the husky Dahei with ill intent and surrounded him.

The husky Dahei’s fur stood on end. He was terrified, but he could not run away; behind him was his owner’s family!

Meanwhile, the other grey wolves tacitly began to close in on the group...

A scent of death hung over everyone’s hearts.

”I never thought that I, Zhang Xiaofei, would die young on the outskirts of Jianghai City... Goodbye, Mom...”

”Wuwuwu... I don’t want to die yet...”

They didn’t run. How could a human outrun a wild wolf?

There were only a dozen of them, while the pack had over twenty wolves. They couldn’t escape, and they couldn’t outrun the grey wolves in the dense forest.

The grey wolves’ eyes were cold and sharp, as if they had spotted a delicious feast.

”Coo coo coo!”

A crisp chirp rang out, sounding exceptionally clear in the deathly quiet environment!

The grey wolves and the group looked up to see a bright, grey Sparrow fluttering in the air like a butterfly.

”That’s... the Sparrow that Li Minmin and Ran Xiaoyue brought!”

”What is that Sparrow doing? Why hasn’t it flown away?”

”Wuwuwu... It must be reluctant to leave Li Minmin and Ran Xiaoyue. This is so touching...”

But the next second, the pretty little Sparrow flew off in another direction, making the girl who had spoken about it being reluctant to leave widen her eyes.

Just as everyone was shocked, they also noticed something different about the wolf pack!

All the grey wolves looked up at the Sparrow in the sky in unison, including the wolf king. In the wild eyes of all the grey wolves, it was as if a flame was burning, as if they had seen something with a powerful attraction to them!

This bizarre scene made everyone’s hearts tremble!

Before they could think too much, they heard the wolf king howl at the sky, and all the grey wolves rushed in the direction the Sparrow had flown!

In less than a few seconds, the numerous grey wolves disappeared from their sight, as if everything had been a dream.

Only one female wolf with a few pups was slower and remained in their view, confirming to them that the wolf pack that had just vanished was not a dream!

”What... what is going on? Why did the grey wolves give up on us to chase a tiny Sparrow?”

”This simply doesn’t follow the laws of nature for wolf pack hunting!”

”Don’t think about it, let’s leave here quickly. In any case, this is a good thing for us!”

”Go, go, go... let’s get out of here!”

The group quickly decided to return the way they came.

While retreating, Professor Li looked at Ran Xiaoyue and Li Minmin, who were looking back with worried expressions, and comforted them.

”Don’t worry, you two girls. We will definitely come back to look for that Sparrow later. In any case, it was that Sparrow that saved us.”

”Besides, that Sparrow can fly, so the wolf pack can’t possibly hurt it...”

Hearing this, Ran Xiaoyue and Li Minmin nodded.

The group quickly retreated down the mountain.

...

On the other side, a Sparrow was flickering through the forest. On the ground, there was a sound of breaking branches and leaves as a pack of grey wolves closely followed on the ground.

”It’s a good thing I have fully mastered flight techniques; otherwise, it would have been really difficult to lure this pack of grey wolves away...”

Since Ye Yang evolved and his body became stronger, not only had his body grown larger and more powerful, but his senses were also more sensitive and keen than before.

He had already discovered the wolf pack ambushing in the shrubbery earlier, but he didn’t warn the group because the wolves were already slowly closing in, and it would have been too late to warn them.

At that moment, he thought of the husky Dahei at Professor Li’s house. Just seeing him had made him feel a desire to covet and devour him.

So, other animals should feel the same way when they see him, right?

As for why he stepped forward to rescue these people, the reason was simple. After all, Ran Xiaoyue and Li Minmin had taken care of him, and it was Ran Xiaoyue who had brought back the bird egg he had transformed from; otherwise, he might not have been able to be born into this world.

”Awoo...”

Eerie wolf howls came from the ground. Ye Yang looked down and saw more than twenty grey wolves chasing him relentlessly, as if they were in heat.

A trace of disdain flashed in Ye Yang’s small eyes.

”What a bunch of big idiots. Don’t you see that I can fly?! And you’re still chasing!”

If he hadn’t wanted to let Professor Li and the group get further away, he would have soared into the sky immediately.

”But it’s been over half an hour; Professor Li and the others should be safe by now.”

”Hmm?”

Just as he wanted to speed up to shake off the wolf pack behind him, his heart suddenly skipped a beat!

His nimble little eyes carefully observed the area ahead.

With his keen senses, he sensed the presence of a powerful creature in the area ahead.

It was very dangerous...

Driven by an animal’s instinct to seek advantages and avoid harm, his body trembled slightly.

”What exactly is the danger ahead...”

He reduced the force of his wing flaps and slowed down, his nimble little eyes observing the front.

But there was nothing unusual about this old forest; it was just strangely quiet.

”What am I afraid of! I’m a bird! There wouldn’t be any large aerial predators in this old forest!”

A flash of inspiration hit him. Thinking of this, Ye Yang immediately accelerated and rushed forward.

Watching the tempting and delicious little bird speed forward, the wolf pack, without needing the wolf king’s command, accelerated and followed in the direction of the little bird.

Only the wolf king stopped abruptly, his bright eyes flickering with a rare light of intelligence.

He also sensed the dangerous aura in the forest area ahead.

But the next second, he followed the pack and sprinted forward.

Their wolf pack had over twenty adult grey wolves; what else could exist in the forest that could stand against them?

He would absolutely not let go of that tempting little bird... As long as he ate it, he could evolve and become even stronger!

...

Just like that, Ye Yang flew forward, with the twenty-plus grey wolves chasing him on the ground.

A very powerful, heart-palpitating feeling emanated from the dense forest ahead.

”I’ve arrived.”

”Roar!!!”

Suddenly!

A deafening roar shot straight into the sky. In an instant, all the animals in the mountain forest were startled. Wild boars, honey badgers, foxes... even the nearly extinct pangolins fled in panic.

A large number of birds took flight in panic from the trees. Only one Sparrow landed steadily on the withered branch of an old tree, its nimble little eyes gazing ahead.

”That’s a tiger’s roar! There’s a tiger!”

”Roar!!!”

The tiger’s roar sounded like a revving sports car engine.

A large tiger with yellow and black stripes, upturned eyes, and a white forehead leaped out from the grass in the forest. Its pair of bronze-bell-sized, green tiger eyes were full of murderous intent!

At this moment, the wolf pack stopped their advance, having already given up on their target, the Sparrow.

Because they were tightly locked in the tiger’s fierce gaze, a great battle was about to break out...
