Rebirth of the Godly Prodigal

Ai? What’s happening? Why did the value not get deducted even when I earned money?

Hong Dali decisively asked the system, “System, when I first transmigrated here, why did my squandering value turn negative even when I won money from the casino?”

System: “…” What the f*ck, it didn’t even bother to reply!

Hong Dali was confused. “Why does this system not answer my question? No, it must be clarified. Otherwise, if I accidentally do something wrong in the future and fail to complete the assigned mission, that will be disastrous.”

Thinking of this, Hong Dali began to analyze. “When I just transmigrated over, the system told me to spend 100,000 in four hours. En, this task was unfamiliar to me when I first came here and was really difficult. My first choice at that time was to spend it in the casino, but winning the gamble caused my squandering value to turn into the negative. Thus, there can only be two possibilities.

“One, the system prohibits gambling. Thinking about it carefully, if I collude with the casino owner or with a few gamblers, the money I win will not be counted, while the money lost will be deducted from the necessary squandering value. This makes it very easy to accomplish the mission. And it could also be said that I can continually spend money without worrying about it depleting since I can win it back. By doing so, I could easily earn attribute points and maybe even fill my attribute points to the brim in one day.

“Two, the system can detect the way I spend money, and gambling is obviously not one of the ways to spend money accepted by the system. The other methods I use to squander basically constitute in freely giving money to a person, such as tipping someone. Such spendings are usually of small amounts, so the system does not increase the amount I need to squander. However, gambling is a different story altogether. Take for example if I were to buy a lottery ticket. With my habit of spending, I would bet with at least tens of thousands. If I were to win a prize of up to a billion… wouldn’t my attribute points be deducted till it reaches zero?”

Thinking up to here, Hong Dali felt chilly. “Luckily, I don’t usually gamble. No, I can’t just let it slide. I must clarify this matter clearly. If not, this would just be like a land mine. If I were to buy a lottery ticket out of boredom someday and win the top prize, even if my attribute points will not be deducted till death, I would still become a vegetable.”

His fears were definitely not unjustifiable. Although the system did not explicitly state what would happen if his attribute points hit zero, any rational person would know that since attribute points were linked to one’s health, if one were to lose all attribute points, one would become disabled or even lose their own life. No one would remain calm at this.

“En, after I wake up later, I will go to the casino to give it a try. I must see if this applies to all types of gambling!” After making the decision, Hong Dali finally drifted to sleep.

An hour later.

“Ah, what a good sleep!” Hong Dali rubbed his eyes before sitting up and having a good stretch. “So boring…”

Seeing that he woke up, Li Nianwei, who had been acting as his pillow, smiled and said, “Young Master, Chu Zhongqin came by just now. However, after seeing that you were asleep, he decided not to disturb your rest and left.”

“Oh, that guy.” Hong Dali muttered. “Shouldn’t he be practicing singing, why is he looking for me?”

Speaking of which, the meeting with Chu Zhongqin happened a few days back. At that time, Chu Zhongqin was acting high and mighty in front of Hong Dali. However, Hong Dali did not say anything to him. He just threw the 400,000 jade bought at the auction and played Fetch with his Samoyed Xiao Xiao, thus getting a loyal follower just like that.

Li Nianwei snorted and said softly, “He asked if Young Master has the time to spare at night, to allow him to treat Young Master to dinner.”

“Dinner? That’s so boring.” Hong Dali twitched his nose. “I have nothing to do in the evening anyway. Ask him if he’s willing to go out for a small gamble with me. I will pay for the losses, and if we win, he can keep the money.”

“Alright, I will ask someone to call for him now.” Li Nianwei answered.

“Sister Nianwei, there’s no need for you to do such a chore.” Hong Dali pointed to one of his lackeys. “You there, go call Chu Zhongqin here. The errand tip will be 5000.”

The lackey thus started to run away happily…

Who was Hong Dali? He was the definition of a gifted prodigal. Could one even lose out when going out with him? After hearing that Hong Dali wanted to go out for a “small gamble,” and that he did not need to bear the losses but got to keep the winnings, Chu Zhongqin felt as if a free pie fell down from the sky. In less than half a minute, Chu Zhongqin, who had been practicing singing in a separate private room at Cai Wei Company, appeared in front of Hong Dali with a humble face before saying with a smile, “Young Master, did you call for me?”

“En,” Hong Dali said. “Let’s go and have a small gamble. It’s really boring here.”

“Alright, no problem!” Chu Zhongqin, who was a respected senior in front of outsiders, decisively opened the door faster than Hong Dali’s lackeys. “Young Master, please.”

“En, not bad!” Hong Dali snapped his fingers and called, “Tip him 10,000!”

Chu Zhongqin: “Thank you, Young Master!” He then thought in his heart, I have really made the right decision this time. In the past, participating in a program only earned me at most 200,000. Furthermore, it’s way more tiring. Just opening the door for young master earned me 10,000. Adding to the fact that I don’t have to bear the losses, how can I ever lose out if I were to follow young master? Playing with the young master can easily earn me thousands—how refreshing is that!

After going down, they met Tang Muxin who was playing badminton with the staff. Hearing that Hong Dali wanted to go out gambling again, she immediately rushed forward and asked, “Dali, what are you planning to do today? Why are you going to gamble again?”

“Ah, nothing much. I’m just going there to play for a while.” Hong Dali continued walking happily while humming a song at the same time. “Upsurge~~ Upsurge~~”

“Che, how big do you intend to gamble today?” Tang Muxin asked. “In my opinion, with your invincible luck, why not try the lottery? You will definitely win the biggest prize!”

After hearing that, Hong Dali felt cold sweat trickling down his forehead. “Absolutely not! Definitely!” After thinking for a while, he asked again, “Oh yeah, are there lottery scratch-tickets here?”

“Scratch-tickets? The one where you scratch the cover and see what you get inside?” Unexpectedly, Tang Muxin even knew of this. “Thinking about it, there really is. It would normally be available in shops near primary and high schools.”

“Let’s go play lottery scratch-tickets then, hehe.” Hong Dali laughed. “This thing seems to be very fun and interesting.”

Chu Zhongqin, who was walking in front, suddenly became awkward and nearly burst into tears—he was, after all, a well-known male singer in the Heavenly State, a respectable senior! Being Young Master’s lackey could still be justifiable, but for him to go to a convenience store outside a primary school to play lottery scratch-tickets? If the paparazzi knew of this, he would no longer have the face to stay in the entertainment industry in the future!

Thinking up to here, Chu Zhongqin rushed to ask, “About that, Young Master, is it alright if I request something?”

“En, say it. What is it?” Hong Dali replied.

“Can I go get a change?” Chu Zhongqin asked. “I’m scared that I will be caught by the paparazzi…”

“Go then.” Hong Dali waved his hands. “Two minutes.”

“Alright!”

Thus, after two minutes, a wrapped dumpling-like Chu Zhongqin was presented in front of Hong Dali. “Young Master, I’m ready!”
