System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1637: Doubt

On another battlefield, Incetta was actually having a hard time against her opponent. Unlike the others, she had three armies.

The first one was the ground army. They were the ones taking the full brunt of the demon army’s advance.

The second army consisted of the airships. They shot down as many demons as possible and maintained air superiority. Thanks to them, the number of demons had decreased significantly.

The last one would be the boat. Her boat was acting like a fortress, not only to provide cover fire but also protection.

With the three armies, it was impossible for her to maneuver around as she liked. Luke also knew about this and didn’t give any order to her to confuse the enemy.

In other words, Incetta had to take the full brunt of the demon army’s attack without any trick, resulting in an all-out clash.

Because there was no trick, the demon could control the enemy much more thoroughly.

No, due to the trick, the demon could be said to have given up on all fronts except for this one.

In other words, Incetta had to clash with the full power of the demon.

Incetta could see the situation of her army. They couldn’t advance nor retreat.

At the same time, her position was quite awkward, leaving no chance to leave or regroup.

The biggest problem was the number of demons. There were several thousand demons coming at her, while she only had at most twenty thousand. It was true that she got the airships and her boat, but it was not enough to tip the scale of the battlefield.

At this rate, her armies would be exhausted before they could take down all the demons.

So, Incetta had to make a difference.

The ancient demon spider had shown itself, but it was rather hard to fight the spider as it intentionally positioned itself deep in the demon’s ranks.

This spider most likely planned to have the demons attack her the moment she came over.

At the same time, the ancient demon couldn’t move either. Hence, the demon could do one thing. Tire Incetta’s army out and overwhelm her.

”What am I going to do now...” Incetta muttered, assessing the situation.

”I’m not sure either.” Vivi squinted her eyes. ”Back in my day, Alexander Ardagan could brute force everything. He had commandants to take care of the small details while he led from the front. However, your army doesn’t have such a thing.”

Because Vivi mentioned Alexander Ardagan, it reminded her of the talk she had with her teacher, Anna.

”I know that I’ve accepted you as my disciple and I intend to teach you anything that suits you. To be honest, you should ask Noel about this. Spear and Sword. Your specialty is based on wielding two different types of weapons.

”On the other hand, Noel possesses two different elements: fire and ice.”

Incetta didn’t say anything. She just stared at Anna, asking her to teach her.

Anna scratched the back of her head before raising one finger. ”In that case, why don’t you fuse them together? I can’t say anything further than this since you want to try to become a spirit king. You’ve to figure out the rest yourselves.”

Incetta looked down. How could she combine them together? The weapon itself was different. If she wanted to change her sword into a spear, it would take a moment, and vice versa.

The length, the shape, and even the purpose were different.

”Well, I think I can tell you about this. I do combine things as well. I have both the violent side of lightning and the gentle side of lightning. Now the question is why? I can’t tell you why, but I can show it to you.”

Anna raised her sword. ”Come at me. In the end, this was also the way Noel showed me a path without telling me about it. And now, I’ll do the same for you.”

They were sparring all the time, but Incetta still couldn’t find her king path.

She wondered if she didn’t have the quality for it, but Anna had left enough clues as well as a demonstration. All that was left was for her to figure out the rest.

Incetta took a deep breath. ”I really can’t figure it out this way. Combining a sword and a spear...”

”Are you going?” Vivi asked, noticing Incetta grabbing her sword.

”Yeah. Lord Noel taught Master Anna by sparring, and Master Anna taught me with the same method. She had provided enough clues, and it looked like it could only be done in a fight. In that case, I shouldn’t hold back anymore.”

Vivi warned her, ”You know that if you end up failing, the consequences will be severe, right? You might not be able to enter that last stage if something happens to you.”

”Yeah, but it doesn’t mean I have to be a coward. If playing it safe helped, those two wouldn’t have become spirit kings this fast.” Incetta drew her blade. ”I’m going again.”

Vivi realized she couldn’t persuade Incetta anymore.

Incetta added, ”I know, Ancestor. You have been guiding me the whole time. I can reach this far because of your help. However, this is my life.

”I’m the one in charge. I don’t plan to live under your shadow all the time. That’s why please don’t persuade me any longer.”

Vivi wasn’t surprised or annoyed by her statement. Instead, she was smiling as if she had been waiting for it.

”In that case, you should move up your second division and have your boat concentrate all its attack to the right.”

”Ancestor!” Incetta wanted to stop her.

However, Vivi quickly explained, ”That way, the enemy is forced to redirect their force to the right. There will be a gap for you to exploit. Use that gap to reach the spider. I won’t interfere with your battle, but I can’t let the demons interfere with your battle either. I will set up the stage for you.”

”!!!” Incetta seemed to have misunderstood her ancestor. She smiled. ”Thank you.”

”Go, fly. The little bird has finally grown up. It’s time for you to soar into the sky.”
