Chapter 1616: Clash Between Kings

”...” The two demon kings couldn’t help but wonder about the possibility.

If it had been the war one thousand years ago, they wouldn’t have done so. After all, they had a traitor among the commandants.

By utilizing the traitor, they could affect Margaretha’s judgment and force her to send a reinforcement to the beast kingdom, which allowed them to strike at the kingdom easily.

But this was different from one thousand years ago.

The Beast Kingdom had grown to such a scale that they couldn’t use it as bait anymore. Rather, they chose to surround them so that they couldn’t do much during the great demon war.

In addition, they had no traitors among Noel’s retainers. Thanks to Noel’s meticulous effort, they couldn’t plant a spy next to him. Even Anna was protected thanks to his efforts.

And Noel was different from Margaretha. No, it would be more accurate to say that Noel surpassed both Margaretha and Alexander combined.

Alexander’s prowess was strong, but Noel had fused with Ardagan directly. He was also a genius in warfare, surpassing even Margaretha.

With him taking the lead, there was no gap to exploit.

Hence, the demon kings chose the most reasonable approach. They had to overwhelm him with numbers.

And just looking at the situation, their decision was definitely correct. As long as there were enough numbers, they could suppress Noel.

If they lacked even a single ancient demon, they would lose before the great demon war reached the second half.

Thanks to all this, the demon kings couldn’t help but wonder if Noel had another scheme prepared. If he worked together with Anna to defeat the Supreme Devil, Noel and Anna could face him head-on.

Unlike Anna, the Supreme Devil was not specialized in speed, so he definitely couldn’t get away from them.

When they thought about this possibility, they felt a shiver down their spines.

Their plan might fail again, so the two demon kings came to a tacit agreement. ”If we don’t do anything, we might end up falling into his trap.”

”If we do something, it might be a trap as well. But we definitely can’t ignore this trap.” The Sky Demon King nodded with a solemn expression.

”In that case, we should head to the Golden Dawn City as quickly as possible. As long as we destroy the main base, we can see through his intention.” The Land Demon King agreed.

”Then we shouldn’t wait any longer!” The demon kings said at the same time.

The direction of their army shifted to the east.

They didn’t go straight to the heart of the Muivell Kingdom anymore. Rather, their focus had changed to the Golden Dawn City.

Whether it was intentional or unintentional, this action would cost them a lot.

To ensure they would be able to kill Noel, they had brought 5 ancient demons, 200 superior demons, and 500,000 lower-level demons.

They thought any number lower than this could be countered by Noel in one way or another.

However, the moment they stepped into Noel’s territory, they had to face the true terror of the runes.

All the fortresses on the west side of the Ardagan territory had been completed. All these fortresses shot down as many demons as they could.

Thanks to Noel’s rapid growth as well as strategic placement, the fortresses’ defense was very effective in chipping away at their number.

Originally, the enemy was 500,000 strong, but thanks to the efforts from multiple fortresses, they actually chipped down 100,000 of them.

It might not look small, but the demon kings didn’t destroy those fortresses, nor did they station the demons to attack them.

After all, they couldn’t lose even more demons in the process. But thanks to that decision, the soldiers from all those fortresses were still alive, meaning they could fight again once they exited the town.

The demon kings couldn’t help but feel frustrated. They never thought the defense would be this tough.

As much as they wanted to destroy them, they had to conserve their energy to face Noel.

Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, they finally reached the second most important city in the Ardagan territory.

”There it is!” The Land Demon King pointed forward. ”That is the central hub of this region. If we destroy it, the logistics will be destroyed. And this will be enough to cripple Noel Ardagan in this war.”

”That’s also the source of his money. This will be good for the first target.” The Sky Demon King nodded. ”We’ll use this to provoke him as well. Let’s see what he will do next. If he doesn’t do anything, it means he is heading to that human traitor. We will then pursue him together at the fastest speed. Hopefully, that lowly human can buy enough time for himself.”

The Land Demon King agreed with this arrangement.

”Kill them all!” The Land Demon King ordered. In his hand, there was a bright red flower.

This red flower was actually one of the five ancient demons. It was the one controlling the demon army this time.

With a single order from the demon king, the demons moved in unison.

However, a huge blue phoenix flew into the sky and ultimately dove, crashing right in front of the demons. The flame that made the fire phoenix erupted like a volcanic eruption, freezing first and then evaporating everything that came into contact.

”!!!” The two demon kings were startled, but this was what they were hoping for.

The strike earlier had killed over three thousand demons, and the flame still continued to spread to the entire army, but they had succeeded in drawing out the most troublesome opponent.

They couldn’t help but shift their gazes to the sky, looking at the human who descended from the sky with a pair of blue wings.

”Well, well, well. It looks like my place is quite popular. For you to bring so many demons here, should I feel honored?” Noel’s expression turned cold.

”Hoorah, Grand Duke!”

”Grand Duke!”

The people on top of the city wall cheered because the Grand Duke had appeared to stop their enemy.

But two demons emerged from the army as well.

”I thought you would be more clever than this, Noel Ardagan. It’s such a shame, but there’s nothing you can do to change the outcome of this war.” The Land Demon King clenched his hands into fists.

”It’s time to end the battle between the Ardagan family and the demons. Once and for all.” The Sky Demon King released his power.
