Chapter 1627: Moving to the Final Phase

”What?” Oscar dropped his jaw as he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. ”Are you serious?”

”That’s the report, sir. Currently, all sides have been locked, and we can’t make any movements.” The soldier nodded. ”Captain Milfa is going to take down the ancient demon in the south, but we still haven’t gotten any update yet.

”Lady Anna Stargaze is currently engaging the supreme devil along with many demons underneath him.

”There is another spirit transcendence rank expert with her, but that expert is currently holding back two ancient demons by himself. And the airships are still on the way as the demons are surrounding them. They must be stopping the airships so that they can’t help the expert.”

”Right now, we are engaged on all fronts. If we retreat here, the demons will swarm this place, and the northern side will collapse.”

”What...” Oscar heard it again, but he wanted to believe he had heard it wrong.

After all, holding two ancient demons on his own was suicide. Even Oscar didn’t believe he could do that.

There could only be one possibility once that happened. Death.

Oscar wanted to break free and hurry to Laufey, but he couldn’t. The moment this front collapsed, the demons would swarm in and hit both the Atracaeca Kingdom and the Muivell Kingdom hard.

The war would be over the moment he acted according to his heart. As a commander, he couldn’t allow such a thing.

He could leave his troops here while going there himself, but there was an ancient demon here. His troops might be strong, but there was no one who could stand up against them. Even the airships here could only fight superior demons or lower.

They weren’t equipped with advanced level runes.

”Am I going to let him die again?” Oscar wanted to scream. The three brothers were about to reunite, but would they be separated again here?

”Laufey...” Oscar bit his lip before shouting, ”We will remain here. Take your position. We’ll switch our positions. Tell the Demon Barrier Squad to become a wall on our left.

”Demon Spear Squad and Demon Sword Squad will now follow me and pierce through their ranks and continue to sweep all the demons on the right.

”Both sides have revealed all their cards, so it’s time to unleash the strength of the Demon Banner Army.”

”Yes, sir!”

Oscar’s plan was simple. As long as they could break through and start eating all the demons to the north, they could focus everything south.

This was the only way for Oscar to help Dimitri. If he could somehow generate enough pressure on the demons, forcing them to divert north to maintain the current battlefield, he would be satisfied.

”Go!”

The Demon Banner Army had actually been split into three groups.

The first group was with Oscar. He currently commanded four squads.

The second group was the squad that Milfa personally commanded, the Demon Adjudicator Squad. She personally went south to help arrange the reinforcements to become the killing blow to this war.

The last group was in Shale’s hand.

”...” Shale looked at the captains. ”I know that you haven’t trusted me yet. However, we have an important job here. And that is to kill the demons.

”Due to the position of the Demon Banner Army, we took all this time to reach this place. But the time we’ve been waiting for has arrived.

”What’s the purpose of the Demon Banner Army? Of course, that is to kill the demons. We will kill all the demons and become the killing spear that etches ourselves into history.

”All Demon Squads in the Offensive Category. I want all of you to strike hard from the flank. All Demon Squads in the Defensive Category. You will be matching your movements with the city and use that to contain the demons and become an impregnable wall.

”Lastly, the Demon Squads in the Support Category. I want you to work in your respective field to help the city. This will be the biggest and most dangerous battle of your life, but I expect nothing less.”

The captains nodded their heads. They knew that even though Milfa was stronger, Shale was actually Oscar’s successor.

After all, Milfa was close to the Ardagan family. They didn’t want the Ardagan family to control the Demon Banner Army.

So, it was necessary to have Shale as the new leader. And the way Oscar volunteered to help the Atracaeca Kingdom was paving the way for Shale.

Still, Shale also showed his potential. The fact that he had already found his transcendent path showed his strength.

Sooner or later, he would become a spirit transcendent without the help of the Ardagan family.

The moment they had been waiting for had arrived.

”All troops. Onward!” Shale shouted.

The Demon Banner Army was a group of elites, so their numbers weren’t big. However, their marching speed was faster than any other army.

After all, those who had become knights would at least be spirit practitioners.

Shale led the troops from the front. They arrived with the trains slightly south of the battlefield, so it didn’t take more than three minutes before the battlefield was in sight.

”!!!” The demon kings were definitely surprised. The ancient demons alone were already having a hard time against Leysha, Old Ru, Water Lord, and Magic Lord.

To think that there would be another reinforcement coming from the south.

”Demon Banner Army?” The Land Demon King recognized them instantly. ”Are we the ones being trapped here?”

”It looks like you guys are having a hard time. Mind if we join?” Shale asked out loud.

Magic Lord scoffed. ”Brat.”

”The more, the merrier.” Water Lord smiled.

Shale then raised his sword and sped up. The wind erupted, producing a kind of sonic boom. In that instant, Shale covered the distance between him and the demon army.

He then swung his blade as the wind flew forward, disintegrating the bodies that had been cut. All the energies that were trying to stop him were actually disintegrated by his power, allowing the others to break through the enemy’s ranks.

”On me!”
