System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1606: Second Wave

As the main attack arrived, the people had become more prepared due to the Phantom’s information.

”Kill them all!” Oscar shouted. Now that he had figured out the scale of the war, he finally participated in the battle.

Of course, it was thanks to Laufey persuading him.

The Demon Banner Army and the Ardagan family’s army had finally joined hands and started massacring the demons.

”Amazing.” The people were impressed, especially those from the Ardagan family.

Commander Oscar was pretty efficient in killing his enemies, allowing them to advance smoothly despite the overwhelming number of demons.

At the same time, they couldn’t act slowly, as the great protectors were also doing their best to protect them.

”As expected from the commander of the Demon Banner Army. You are much more proficient than most people, even though you’ve only had this for a few days.” Laufey teased him.

Milfa just smiled wryly. She thought Laufey was going to stay silent so as not to show their relationship.

But it looked like Laufey had gradually moved on from his past. Thanks to Noel and his resolve, Laufey could easily take off his mask here. However, he had yet to do it, as he promised Noel to only take off this mask after they won.

”What the hell are you saying, you jerk?” Commander Oscar rolled his eyes. ”Why don’t you be in charge? You are experienced in this kind of thing as well.”

”I am not. I am not. I’m good at information gathering. That’s all.”

Oscar’s eyebrows twitched, wanting to smack the back of his head. He knew how capable Laufey was when he was still in the Demon Banner Army. Even as a demon saint, Laufey was truly a headache.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything to him yet. ”Still, the enemy is about to come, yes?”

”I have seen several ancient demons. As long as you are able to drive away those ancient demons and let our girl kill their leader, it should be fine. Make sure to get enough distance.”

”I have seen the battle between Noel Ardagan and the Sky Demon King. I’m aware of the destruction that those two will cause. So, I know what to do.”

”That’s good then. How about the Atracaeca Kingdom?”

”Due to the current situation, they are asking us to handle the western area if possible. They will try to hold back any demons coming from the south. Most of their great protectors are there. It looks like some are planning to fight to the death.”

”I guess we don’t have to worry about their morale.”

”For now, yes. But the longer this battle goes on, the tougher it will become.”

”But it won’t be a problem for our Oscar, right?”

Oscar really wanted to slap him in the face, but he managed to contain himself. ”Well, it’ll be impossible to do whatever they want. If they push us that far, I will change the people and make them remember why we shouldn’t corner the enemy into the wall.”

Laufey smiled. ”In that case, I’ll make my move now. It’s time for me to scout around the area and locate our biggest target today.”

Oscar could only sigh. Laufey had always teased him and ran away after winning. But he didn’t want to argue with him as usual.

So, he just said, ”After this war... I hope we, the three brothers, can drink again.”

Laufey didn’t say anything, but he was smiling behind his mask before disappearing.

...

Zaecuria Kingdom.

The people were in shock watching the wave that failed to sweep them. The second wave really came and almost killed them. If not for the reminder, they would have died.

”This...” The people sucked in a cold breath.

”It’s indeed the second wave.”

”Get ready. The water must be infested with demons. We have to fight them.”

They were clenching their swords. They were angry that if they hadn’t listened to Dimitri earlier and made a countermeasure, they would have died without being able to do anything.

Now that the demons were coming to die, they would gladly help the demons.

As expected, some demons jumped up, some emerged from the water, and some sent their respective ’weapons’ or body parts to attack the ship.

”Kill!”

The engagement began fiercely as the humans were surprisingly dominating the battlefield.

They knew how many people had died from this tsunami, so they couldn’t help but get angry at the people who dared to harm their people.

In addition, some of the sailors and soldiers came from the western region and went to the capital city or other major cities for training or jobs.

Seeing how their place was devastated, they wouldn’t be able to contain their rage.

”Kill them!”

”Don’t spare anyone alive.”

The people were shouting to raise their morale even further. They didn’t care if they died. They just wanted to make sure the demons were dragged along with them.

The admiral was speechless. This was the first time he had seen such high morale, but it was understandable.

However, their morale was about to be destroyed as a huge shark emerged from the water.

The shark plunged itself toward the ship and opened its big mouth.

The shark bit it hard as its teeth penetrated the barrier made of rune.

Loadstar clenched his hands into fists, ready to make a move himself. ”I never thought you would come here, demon. I’m going to play around with you.”

Before he could continue, the diva abruptly caused the water to surge, pulling back the monster.

”!!!” Loadstar was quite surprised, but since the woman was strong, he had no choice but to give her the first ancient demon.

The diva was even more determined. ”Leave this guy to me.”

”...” Loadstar paused for a moment. It looked like it wasn’t his time yet.

”There are plenty of demons here. With an ancient demon finally appearing in front of our eyes, I guess we know what we should do next.”

”...” Loadstar couldn’t help but agree. ”Let’s prepare then. I need you in the office because I need some information about the demon movement.”

”Of course.” Dimitri gracefully accepted it.
