The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Sharing Half with You

Ouyang Mingruo held Zhang Yun back and immediately interrogated the guard, ”Were you arranged by my dad? Why wasn’t I aware?”

The security guard hurriedly scrambled up. Massaging his arm, he answered.

”My name is Zhen Wei. Mr. Ouyang arranged for me to work here as a security guard to protect you at your residence. Just now, someone came looking for you. That person lives on the same floor. I’ve been paying special attention to him and suspected he might harbor ill intentions.

”When I saw him coming over on the surveillance cameras just now, I hurried up to help. As long as you’re safe, I’m relieved... You know my identity now. If you run into any trouble, please come directly to the security room and look for Zhen Wei.”

Zhen Wei bowed to Ouyang Mingruo, glanced at Zhang Yun, and then took his leave.

After Zhang Yun closed the door and returned, Ouyang Mingruo showed him her phone.

”It’s confirmed. This Zhen Wei is the real deal.”

Even though it was true, Ouyang Mingruo still felt uncomfortable!

She had originally thought that by living independently outside, she was enjoying a lot of freedom. She hadn’t expected that her second uncle had arranged people to monitor her nearby, nor that her father had arranged someone to protect her even earlier.

”He’s just worried about you living out here on your own. If he told you directly, you would definitely refuse, so...” Now that Zhang Yun had a clear grasp of her family’s dynamics, he could understand Ouyang Kunpeng.

”I know...” Ouyang Mingruo smiled bitterly. ”With the emotional baggage I had before, I would have thought my second uncle’s men were here to protect me, and my dad’s were here to monitor me.”

”But realizing you’ve been watched for a long time still makes you uncomfortable.”

”Yeah...” Ouyang Mingruo felt somewhat gratified; Zhang Yun understood her.

Human relationships were just that strange. Some people could spend ages together without ever sparking, while others could share a tacit understanding after knowing each other for just a few days.

Zhang Yun patted her head. It wasn’t his place to say much more; this was her family affair, and an outsider shouldn’t meddle too much.

Ouyang Mingruo smiled and pinched Zhang Yun’s chin.

”I won’t tease you anymore. I still have a lot of things to handle!”

The originally romantic atmosphere had been completely shattered by the successive arrivals of those two outsiders. The mood was entirely gone.

A major incident had struck the Ouyang Family tonight, and she was the one who had provoked it. Although her father stated he would smooth things over, she didn’t want to cower and hide either.

Zhang Yun patted his chest. ”Then I’m relieved!”

”Where do you want to sleep?”

”Where can I sleep?”

This was an independent open-concept apartment. Past the entrance hallway, the bedroom, study, and gym were all situated in a single, interconnected large area, visible at a glance. Her walk-in closet must have been a separate custom addition.

Ouyang Mingruo pointed with a beaming smile. ”My bed is big enough! I’ll share half of it with you.”

”Never mind, I’ll just make do on the floor for the night. This pajama set is yours anyway, so it doesn’t matter if it gets dirty,” Zhang Yun said hastily.

Ouyang Mingruo immediately shook her head. ”No way! I went to your room and slept in your bed; it’s only fair and reasonable that you come to my room and sleep in my bed. If you sleep on the floor when I visit your home, and you still sleep on the floor when you visit mine, that would be far too impolite.”

Zhang Yun laughed. ”I don’t mind. What’s wrong with a grown man sleeping on the floor? You don’t expect me to let a delicate beauty like you sleep on the floor, do you? Now that would be impolite.”

”Hehe, that’s why I’m sharing half my bed with you!” She tugged at Zhang Yun. ”Look for yourself, is it big enough? Is it enough for two people to sleep in?”

”It’s big all right, but...”

”I’m not embarrassed, yet you are?” Mingruo goaded.

Zhang Yun smiled bitterly. ”It’s not a matter of being embarrassed, it’s just... what if I make a mistake after falling asleep?”

Ouyang Mingruo chuckled softly. ”How about this: we can do it like Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and put a bowl of water in the middle. That way, you won’t have to worry about me crossing the line and ambushing you, right?”

”...”

”Alright! As long as your mind is pure, it doesn’t matter where you sleep, unless you’re harboring ulterior motives.” Ouyang Mingruo blinked and added, ”Do you want to call home? You’ve been out for most of the day.”

”It’s fine. My old man is practically itching for something to happen between us.” Zhang Yun shrugged helplessly.

”Hahaha, then do you want to fulfill his wish?”

”Shoo, shoo! Go do your work. Before, you wanted to start a war, and now you have to put out the fires!”

After shooing Ouyang Mingruo away, Zhang Yun went over to the large bed, chose the side with a charger, and plugged his phone in.

Since leaving in the afternoon, this was the first time he had a moment to look at his phone. There were many missed calls waiting for him.

Zhang Yun first needed to figure out Fu Yudie’s safety status. Xu Jin and the other two all had missed calls, likely intending to report the situation to him.

He first opened WeChat. Since the few of them weren’t locals, they figured their master not answering the phone meant it was inconvenient for him, so they had left messages to report in.

Zhang Yun had no interest in the determination of accident liability, vehicle damage, and all that, so he skipped right over it. Ouyang Kunpeng’s people would follow up on it properly anyway.

As for Fu Yudie, she was first sent to the town hospital. Then, following Zhang Yun and Ouyang Mingruo’s arrangements to receive the most comprehensive examination and the best treatment, she was transferred to the county people’s hospital.

He wasn’t sure if He Xiong had said something to Zhang Lifeng, but the old guy was quite accommodating; he stepped in and arranged for the hospital to conduct a full screening immediately.

In the end, it was proven that Fu Yudie had no issues whatsoever. Thanks to her frequent training, the impact was roughly equivalent to being knocked out by a heavy punch.

Even so, it was still recommended that she stay in the hospital for observation, just in case she had a mild concussion or something similar.

Since they already knew their master had personally stepped out to protect Miss Ouyang, the eldest disciple, Xu Jin, made a decision on his behalf. He left Ma Yuming at the hospital to stand guard and take care of Fu Yudie, while he and the remaining disciple returned home to protect Zhang Fu, just in case any enemies came seeking revenge.

After reading the messages from different time frames, Zhang Yun was quite satisfied with their arrangements. After all, they were all older than him and had more life Experience!

Tonight, Die was still hospitalized, so it shouldn’t be inconvenient to reach her. Zhang Yun directly initiated a video call to check on her.

The video call connected quickly. The moment Fu Yudie saw Zhang Yun, she almost cried!

”Master, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. My driving skills are poor and I lack Experience. I ruined Miss Ouyang’s car and caused everyone to be unable to protect her, requiring you to step in personally...”

Ouyang Mingruo had just sat down at her desk and turned on her computer. Since the apartment was an open layout, there was no soundproofing to speak of. Hearing Zhang Yun’s video call with Fu Yudie, she quickly rushed over.

”Die, are you alright?”

Before Zhang Yun could even speak, she suddenly darted over. He had no choice but to hold the phone further away to get both of them in the frame.

Tears had already begun to well up in Fu Yudie’s eyes, but seeing Ouyang Mingruo, she quickly held them back. ”Miss Ouyang, Boss, I’m sorry, I...”

”There’s no need to apologize. It’s not that I don’t trust you guys, but you understand—having Zhang Yun step up personally makes me even happier. Right now, we’re only concerned about your health!”

Hearing Ouyang Mingruo’s concern, Fu Yudie hastily thanked her. ”Thank you, Boss. Thank you, Master. I practice martial arts every day, so this little issue is no big deal. Because it was a car accident, the hospital was worried about a concussion or something similar, so they asked me to stay for observation. Ming Tian, I can be discharged...”

Because the phone was held further away, it not only captured their two heads squeezed together but also a rough view of their surroundings.

Fu Yudie took one look. Wasn’t that the headboard of a bed? Her master seemed to be wearing pajamas, and Ouyang Mingruo was dressed even more scantily... Did it even need to be spelled out what kind of situation this was?

”I’m fine! The nurse is asking to turn off the lights, so I won’t disturb you two any longer. Good night!”

Blushing and stammering out an excuse, she hurriedly hung up the video call.
