The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Two-Faced Beauty

Ouyang Mingruo was sipping tomato juice while watching the show, feeling that Zhang Yun had just called a few friends over to put her at ease. However, as soon as they made a move, she was genuinely surprised! Xu Jin and the others were Sanda competitors. Instead of performing a routine of Fist Techniques, they paired up and directly sparred with each other!

They were originally friends of a similar skill level who often trained and sparred together. Once they started fighting, they held nothing back, acting as if they were actually in the ring. Ouyang Mingruo didn’t know much about Martial Arts, but she had seen the combat skills of her family’s bodyguards. The Martial Arts prowess of these young people was far superior! Xu Jin and Ma Yuming, Zhao Ye and Fu Yudie—the two pairs fought for a while and stopped only after receiving Zhang Yun’s permission.

”Mingruo, what do you think? I don’t have any weapons or things like that here.”

Ouyang Mingruo gave him a complex look. ”Are you serious?”

Zhang Yun frowned. ”Of course I’m serious! They are true experts, the Sanda champions of our city. Do you think I’d scam you out of your money?”

Xu Jin and the others didn’t understand their relationship and didn’t dare to speak, standing perfectly straight. Ouyang Mingruo took another careful look. There were three men and one woman. They could indeed protect her from all angles.

”Can you drive?” she asked.

”Reporting to the master’s... wife... We all can, but right now only I have a car,” Xu Jin answered on their behalf.

Zhang Yun grabbed a handful of unhusked rice and threw it at him. ”Master’s wife, my foot! Just call her Miss Ouyang or Boss Ouyang,” he said in annoyance.

Xu Jin felt a little innocent. ”When Miss Ouyang called herself the future master’s wife just now, you didn’t deny it,” he thought.

Ma Yuming was much sharper. ”The term ’future master’s wife’ means they aren’t officially together yet. Miss Ouyang is claiming her territory, and Master doesn’t want to be tied down!” he analyzed internally.

”Miss Ouyang! We practice Sanda, and being a bodyguard is a common career path for us. We’ve all received systematic training. I wouldn’t dare claim we’re highly professional, but given your relationship with our master, we will definitely give one hundred and twenty percent of our effort, rather than just treating this as a simple part-time job!”

Hearing these words, Zhang Yun felt very satisfied, and Ouyang Mingruo was quite pleased as well.

”Good!” Ouyang Mingruo clapped her hands. ”Then it’s happily decided! I’ll ask you to protect me on behalf of your master. Regarding your compensation, I will add thirty percent to the market rate!”

”Thank you, Miss Ouyang!”

Zhang Yun, however, wasn’t very satisfied and directly bargained. ”Normally speaking, giving me face with thirty percent is pretty good. But you’re in trouble recently, and you’re in real danger. Make it a hundred percent. Once the problem is solved, you can adjust it back to the normal price.”

Xu Jin and the others felt extremely agitated upon hearing this. He was truly their beloved master! This was originally just a test mission, yet he was milking his girlfriend’s money to take care of them!

”Master, there’s no need for that much. Thirty percent is already very good,” Fu Yudie couldn’t help but say, while the other three quickly echoed her sentiments.

They lacked Experience and weren’t professionals. They needed to slowly work their way up from being rookies. Adding thirty percent to the market rate right off the bat was purely out of respect for Zhang Yun. They felt too embarrassed to accept it, let alone demand double the salary.

Ouyang Mingruo put on an obedient and meek appearance. ”Okay, I’ll listen to you. Your apprentices are pretty much my apprentices, so we can’t mistreat our own people.”

”...”

Xu Jin and the others just felt goosebumps all over. Did they call us over early in the morning just to force-feed us this public display of affection? Zhang Yun was already used to Mingruo’s ”performance.” The key was... this was essentially giving him face in front of others, which made him feel very comfortable.

”Wash your hands, tidy up, and get ready to eat!”

”Master, what do you need me to do?” Fu Yudie had already helped with the cooking yesterday and knew her way around the kitchen.

Zhang Fu had also returned. Seeing Xu Jin and the other three here again early in the morning made him a little unhappy. He had rarely managed to create an opportunity for his son, yet these kids ran over to interrupt!

After finishing the grand tomato feast, Zhang Yun originally wanted Ouyang Mingruo to go back, and have the four of them follow along. However, Ouyang Mingruo stated that since she had already come all this way, a day or half a day wouldn’t make a difference, so she wanted to stay here. She did communicate separately with Xu Jin and the other three, going over the work location, duties, and risks. Since this happened so suddenly, even if they agreed, leaving for another city required them to discuss it with their families, confirm everything, and then return with their luggage.

Once Xu Jin and the others left, Zhang Fu felt like a giant third wheel. After sunning the grain, he prepared to go out to work. But then he thought of another problem. His son had drawn too much attention these past few days, and this Ouyang Mingruo was downright dazzling the moment she appeared. Even if he left the two of them at home, people would definitely find excuses to come over and watch the spectacle. Moreover, there would certainly be relatives or even villagers coming to borrow money. If his son refused in front of his girlfriend, wouldn’t he lose face? But if he lent the money, he’d suffer a financial loss!

”Yun! Why don’t you take Miss Ouyang to tour the village...”

Zhang Yun directly refused. ”What beautiful places hasn’t she seen? What’s there to tour in our area?”

”You’re here, so everything is perfectly beautiful,” Ouyang Mingruo said with an adoring look on her face.

Zhang Yun almost burst out laughing. ”Can you be any faker? You’re basically reciting quotes from a scumbag!”

”I’m not a scumbag, I’m just warm... I only want to keep you warm,” Ouyang Mingruo shyly added.

Zhang Yun shuddered. ”Please! You’re supposed to have the vibe of an aloof, cold female CEO. This soft and cute act is too forced.” She was practically acting like she had a split personality.

”COUGH, COUGH...”

Zhang Fu felt that he was being completely ignored as they openly flirted right in front of him!

”Um... You can take Miss Ouyang for a walk by the fish ponds in the mountain valley. It’s An Jing over there with few people, perfect for a stroll...”

This felt like he was teaching his son how to date. Zhang Fu felt embarrassed after saying it and left the house carrying his farming tools.

”I do want to go,” Ouyang Mingruo said with starry eyes.

”The audience is gone, so you don’t need to pretend anymore. The weather is so hot, and we’d have to cross the fields to enter the mountains. You’d get covered in sweat and your feet would be caked in mud. Would you really go? Better stay home with the AC. You probably didn’t sleep well last night either, so go upstairs and catch up on your sleep!”

”No, I...”

”Speak normally!” Zhang Yun really couldn’t stand it anymore.

Ouyang Mingruo burst into loud laughter. Even she couldn’t understand why she could be so uninhibited in front of Zhang Yun, completely disregarding her image, and even deliberately doing things she wouldn’t normally do. It felt quite relaxing and relieving... Seeing Zhang Yun’s dark expression, she forced herself to be serious. ”Ahem! I really do want to go take a look. It’s rare that I get to visit your hometown.”

”It’s very hot...”

”I’ll use an umbrella! Or... that straw hat your dad was just wearing.”

”Your feet will be caked in mud!”

”I can change into your shoes. If they’re a bit too big, I’ll just treat them as slippers. And even if my feet really get caked in mud... wouldn’t that give you an excuse to wash my feet? Isn’t that something you deeply desire? Just like what you did to me when I was unconscious...”

Here we go again! Seeing her bashful look, Zhang Yun retreated in defeat.

”Ah! I understand now!” Ouyang Mingruo covered her mouth in shock, as if she had discovered something incredible.

”Understand what?” Zhang Yun was baffled.

”Last night, I stayed here, and your dad made himself scarce. Everyone else knows we’re together.”

”And so?” Everyone had been smiling at them like that, so Zhang Yun didn’t even bother explaining anymore.

”You told me to stay home and not go out because you want everyone to think you were going at it all night, and still have the energy to keep going at it all day! You’re hinting that you’re super strong!”

”...”
