The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 129: Chapter 129: I Will Kill Him

”Wait a minute... I know it ruins the mood to ask such blunt questions, but I really can’t help it. What do you mean by ’triggering my survival instinct’ and ’touch whatever I want’? And... what do you mean by ’I must not die’?”

Zhang Yun felt incredibly wronged. By heaven and earth, he was innocent!

She made it sound like he was some pervert taking advantage of the situation. Was that touching? That was a physical examination!

He grabbed Ouyang Mingruo’s fragrant shoulders and straightened her up. ”Stop crying! Explain yourself first.”

Zhang Yun also felt that something was off. It had been at least a few dozen seconds since he started ”checking her body.” Why was she only crying without screaming in pain or looking weak?

”Explain... explain what?” Ouyang Mingruo tried hard to hold back her tears, though she still sniffled.

She wasn’t a crybaby by nature. The pressure had simply been too immense, and with no one suitable to confide in, she had sought out Zhang Yun.

But starting from last night, there had been assassins. The attack just now marked the third wave. Even the calmest person wouldn’t be able to handle it. Each wave was more violent than the last, and Zhang Yun had consistently acted as her guardian deity, blocking everything for her.

Seeing Zhang Yun get stabbed just moments ago, and now discovering his back covered in blood, broke her defenses entirely, leading to a direct emotional collapse.

”Were you stabbed?” Zhang Yun asked patiently.

Ouyang Mingruo was slightly confused. ”No.”

Zhang Yun let out a long sigh of relief, finally putting his heart at ease. It seemed to be a misunderstanding. ”Then why were you crying, and why did you say I must not die?”

”Because of you.” Speaking of this, Ouyang Mingruo’s tears welled up again.

Although they hadn’t known each other for long and didn’t know each other deeply, this man had saved her multiple times. In her heart, he was already an indomitable hero. She truly wouldn’t be able to bear it if he died just like that...

”I’m fine! How could I die?” Zhang Yun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He raised his arm. ”Is it because you saw the blood? It’s just a scratch. The blood has clotted, so it’s no big deal.”

”Your back... I saw him stab you. It’s covered in blood,” Ouyang Mingruo pointed out. She had just seen his clothes stained red.

Zhang Yun finally understood the root of the problem. ”Scalding me with boiling water, stabbing me with a knife—these are quite serious, but compared to my desire to protect you, they’re nothing. As the saying goes, true love is invincible! In the face of love, those things are trivial matters!”

”So annoying. Can’t you be serious for a second?” Ouyang Mingruo glared at him playfully. She wiped the tears from her eyelids and said sternly, ”Turn around and let me see the wound!”

”There’s no need to look at the wound. It’s a bloody mess; it’ll just disgust and scare you.” Zhang Yun also turned serious. ”But do you remember what you saw at my house this morning?”

”What?”

”I gave my apprentices the Divine Pill and used my Inner Power to help them increase their Power. You saw how much stronger they became afterward. That was all real. I just took some medicine internally and applied some externally!”

Zhang Yun lifted his arm to show her. ”Look! The wound has stopped bleeding, and the one on my back is about the same. That blood is just from when it first happened. Do I look like I’m seriously injured?”

”I want to see your back!” Ouyang Mingruo wasn’t so easily fooled. Could the severity of a back wound be the same as an arm wound?

Helpless, Zhang Yun could only turn around and lift his shirt to show her.

The seeping blood was smeared by his clothes, making the wound look like a gory mess in the dim lighting of the car. Seeing it made Ouyang Mingruo’s heart ache.

”Don’t worry. My Kung Fu is excellent. The moment it pierced my skin, I twisted away. Although it sliced open a wound, the blade didn’t go deep. Otherwise, how could I have gone to save you? I would’ve been lying flat on the ground!”

Zhang Yun knew his own body very well. Back when Li Bing had scratched him, he healed quickly. Even when Ouyang Mingruo was injured to the point of vomiting blood, she recovered swiftly. Later on, he had consumed an entire mystical flower. Losing a little blood was nothing.

”Thank you,” Ouyang Mingruo hugged Zhang Yun once again.

This time, she wasn’t as emotional and tearful as before; she had calmed down significantly. Although she was still worried, confirming that his life wasn’t in danger put her mind at ease.

”Oh, right!” Zhang Yun straightened her up once more.

Stared at so intensely, Ouyang Mingruo quickly asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”Let’s get one thing straight! When you suddenly burst into tears just now and said I must not die, you scared me half to death. I thought you had realized you’d been stabbed. I was checking to see if you were injured! You hugged me and wouldn’t let go, so I had no choice but to feel around your waist, back, and everywhere else. But it wasn’t that kind of touching!”

Zhang Yun emphasized earnestly.

”Really?” Ouyang Mingruo asked softly. ”How did it feel?”

Zhang Yun’s face darkened with exasperation. ”What do you mean, ’how did it feel’? How would I know! I was just worried you got stabbed, so I was checking for blood and wounds.”

”Don’t explain. Explanation is just a cover-up, and a cover-up means you’re guilty...”

”...”

Ouyang Mingruo let out a PFFT and laughed. ”I’m just kidding. I really don’t mind.”

”It’s not about whether you mind or not. I just didn’t mean it that way.” Zhang Yun thought to himself, ”I didn’t have any improper thoughts then, so how could I care about how it felt?” He then asked, ”How about we do it again?”

”In your dreams! The offer has expired.”

When Zhang Yun returned to the driver’s seat, Ouyang Mingruo asked from the back, ”When you thought I was stabbed, were you really scared half to death?”

”Nonsense! Of course I was worried sick... Uh! Not in the way you’re thinking. I mean, if you died in my car, I’d be in huge trouble. I’d be double-wanted by the authorities and your family...”

Ouyang Mingruo smiled happily and muttered, ”You say one thing but mean another! Just focus on driving.”

Zhang Yun let out a quiet breath and started the car again. Gripping the steering wheel, his mind couldn’t help but recall her question. He wondered, ”How did it feel? Where did I touch?”

At this moment, Ouyang Mingruo dialed a number.

”I’m just letting you know—I’m going to slaughter him!”

Her suddenly ruthless tone, considering she had just been smiling so sweetly, startled Zhang Yun. It wasn’t appropriate for him to interrupt and ask questions, but he could guess she was calling Ouyang Kunpeng. The person she wanted to slaughter was naturally Ouyang Chunqiu!

Earlier, she only wanted to declare war; now, it was a fight to the death!

Ouyang Mingruo hung up the phone the moment she finished speaking. She then made several consecutive calls, all consisting of brief and rapid deployments.

Zhang Yun didn’t understand the state of her family’s business and couldn’t grasp the specifics. He could only deduce that she wasn’t hiring hitmen to butcher Ouyang Chunqiu, but rather utilizing legitimate means to nail him to the wall.

After a few minutes of making calls, she paused for a brief few seconds before an incoming call rang.

Ouyang Mingruo answered it but said nothing. She tossed the phone onto the seat and turned on the speaker.

Zhang Yun muttered inwardly, ”She’s completely treating me as a confidant, but I don’t want to know this much. I’m just a little farmer who got accidentally dragged into this. I have nothing to do with you wealthy families...”

”Mingruo, calm down first. Come back, and we can talk face-to-face. Even if he went a bit too far, you are ultimately... He’s still young. Give him one more chance. I will discipline him...”

Ouyang Mingruo sneered. ”I’ll give him a chance to be reincarnated and start over as a new person right now!”
