The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: You Scheming Man

Ouyang Mingruo didn’t care about safety anymore. She quickly jumped out of the car and rushed to the door. ”Are you okay?” Without asking Zhang Yun to turn around, she circled him herself. Only after confirming there were no new bloodstains or wounds on him did she feel slightly relieved.

”I told you to wait for me outside. It’s not safe here...” Before Zhang Yun could finish, his lips were sealed. Ouyang Mingruo threw herself into his arms, kissed him hard, and then punched him forcefully on the shoulder.

”If you knew it wasn’t safe, why did you cause such a massive explosion? You scared me to death!”

Zhang Yun smiled. This was the standard happy ending of a Hollywood blockbuster! However, he had to let her go. ”Wait a minute!”

Ouyang Mingruo followed his gaze and found Ouyang Qilin tiptoeing away! Uncle Zhong and Lei Bing were both his trusted confidants, yet both had died right in front of him. Especially with Lei Bing getting his head blown off right next to him, he didn’t dare to resist Zhang Yun. Seeing the two of them being all lovey-dovey now, he thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to escape.

”Ouyang Qilin! Do you want another bullet hole in you?”

Ouyang Qilin was already at the edge of the stairs. As long as he could rush up, he could find a room to lock himself in and have a chance to call for help. But upon hearing Zhang Yun’s words, he froze. Could he outrun a bullet?

Looking at Uncle Qilin, Ouyang Mingruo quickly pulled away from her earlier joy and excitement. Her entire demeanor turned utterly cold. She didn’t break down and accuse him like before, nor did she show any disappointment or despair. It was as if she were looking at a stranger.

”Haha, look... you’ve been through a few incidents without getting hurt. Actually, I was just putting on a show. I never wanted to really kill you. I treat you like my own daughter...” Ouyang Qilin tried hard to maintain his usual amiable appearance. He had to beg for Mingruo’s forgiveness to survive. ”Several people have already died here, and I’ve been shot in the arm. If you’re still not satisfied, then take a knife and cut off my head. I absolutely won’t resist or complain...”

He let go of the hand covering his wound to make the blood look more terrifying, while simultaneously closing his eyes, acting as if he had conceded defeat and accepted his fate.

Zhang Yun looked at Ouyang Mingruo, wondering if she would fall for this. This was definitely a classic sympathy ploy. However, he was an outsider after all, so it wasn’t his place to say much. He would let Ouyang Mingruo judge the situation for herself.

He picked up the phone and saw that Ouyang Mingruo had indeed dialed Ouyang Kunpeng earlier before the call dropped. There was also a message from Ouyang Kunpeng. ”Stay calm and don’t agitate them. I’ll be there soon. Wait for me to handle this!”

Ouyang Kunpeng was worried that something would happen to his daughter, and he would also worry about his brother being killed, but Zhang Yun was absolutely certain that Ouyang Kunpeng wouldn’t worry about him! When Mingruo woke up, Uncle Zhong and the others had immediately played the victim and shifted the blame. It was only because of Mingruo’s trust in him that a misunderstanding hadn’t occurred. If Ouyang Kunpeng came over and Ouyang Qilin also twisted the truth to blame him? Zhang Yun definitely didn’t believe that Ouyang Kunpeng would trust him!

”How do you want to deal with him?” Zhang Yun changed his attitude, deciding not to leave any future troubles behind.

Ouyang Qilin had already opened his eyes and forced a smile. ”Mingruo, you’re a good child. I am very glad that you haven’t turned bad. You don’t have to be conflicted. I’ll bleed out and die in a little while.” He sat down, looking incredibly weak. Coupled with the fact that he had indeed bled quite a bit, it seemed as if he really was going to die at any moment.

Ouyang Mingruo looked at Zhang Yun, her gaze incredibly complex. Although she had suffered a massive shock tonight, she still couldn’t bring herself to take revenge with her own hands.

Seeing her struggle, Zhang Yun smiled and asked, ”Do you want me to kill him for you?”

Ouyang Qilin couldn’t help but curse inwardly, ”Why are you being so nosy? Didn’t you say you weren’t going to kill me?” To make Mingruo’s heart soften, he simply panted heavily a few times, then let his body tilt, falling onto the ground.

”Forget it...” Ouyang Mingruo smiled bitterly. ”Let’s go! I don’t want to stay here.”

Zhang Yun cast a glance over and said softly, ”If you spare his life, he’ll definitely scheme something else. He might even twist the truth...”

”I know,” Mingruo nodded gently. ”But I can’t do it... Let my dad handle it.”

”You’re conflicted, but wouldn’t letting your dad personally decide whether or not to kill his own brother make it just as difficult for him?”

Mingruo was suddenly speechless. He was right; this was equivalent to tossing a hot potato to her father.

”Don’t blame me for being a busybody and stirring up trouble. Looking at your dad’s conflicted attitude before, he’ll probably spare him. And given his style, he will definitely swallow his pride for now, only to retaliate with double the force later!” Zhang Yun spoke very seriously. Seeing that she still hadn’t hardened her heart, he added another sentence. ”Who do you think he’ll take revenge on? You, definitely. Your father, your mother, Ouyang Chunqiu... and even me, we’ll all be targets!”

Ouyang Mingruo’s entire body trembled! Frankly speaking, if it was just about taking revenge on her, after experiencing so much danger over the past two days, she really wasn’t afraid. But if he retaliated against her parents, against the younger brother she had wrongly blamed and suppressed for years, and against Zhang Yun... this consequence terrified her deeply!

”Bah! You scheming bastard! Stop ruining my reputation here!” Listening to Zhang Yun stirring up trouble right to his face, Ouyang Qilin couldn’t pretend anymore. If he waited any longer, Mingruo would be convinced and really would have him killed! He sat up and cursed loudly, ”Winner takes all! I lost, and I accept defeat. But I, Ouyang Qilin, am a man of iron will! How could I seek revenge again? You’re a backstabbing, rumor-mongering scoundrel who deserves a terrible death!”

Ouyang Mingruo frowned.

Zhang Yun sneered, ”See that? He just put on a live performance of swallowing his pride! Pretending to pass out from excessive blood loss to make you go soft. In reality, he was listening to our conversation the whole time. If there were a gun on the ground, I bet he would sneakily pick it up and kill us all!”

Ouyang Mingruo looked over with a complicated expression.

”Mingruo! My dear niece! Don’t believe him! I’m not that kind of person. Don’t you know how I treat you? I really did lose too much blood!” Ouyang Qilin quickly defended himself.

Ouyang Mingruo sighed softly. ”Actually, I know everything. If you truly admitted defeat and felt remorse, you would have waited openly. But just now, as soon as I arrived, you tried to seize the chance to escape.”

”No... I just wanted to find something to stop the bleeding. Look, I really am dying. People can die just from a slit wrist, and I’ve been shot...”

Right at this moment, the sound of a speeding vehicle echoed from the distance! Late at night, with a car rushing to their vicinity, could it really just be a coincidence? All three of them could guess that it was probably Ouyang Kunpeng arriving!

Ouyang Qilin breathed a sigh of relief. Originally, he hadn’t wanted to face Kunpeng, but compared to Zhang Yun who wanted to kill him, Kunpeng would be slightly easier to deal with.

”Give it to me!” Ouyang Mingruo, who had been conflicted just a moment ago, immediately made up her mind and reached out to grab Zhang Yun’s gun.

Zhang Yun grasped her hand. ”I just needed you to think it through and make a decision. I’ll do the dirty work.”

”No!” Ouyang Mingruo was unusually resolute. ”This is a hurdle I must face and overcome myself!”
