The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Domineering CEO, Don’t Be Like This

When Zhang Yun returned to the bridge, Fu Yudie had already been rescued. Ouyang Mingruo’s Maybach had been washed slightly downstream before getting stranded on the riverbank.

”How is she?”

Seeing Zhang Yun approach, the crowd made way. Fu Yudie lay on the bank, her face a little pale.

Ma Yuming quickly answered, ”She took a hit from the impact. We’ve always had impact resistance training, so there shouldn’t be any major issues. Her current dizziness is from holding her breath in the car and lacking oxygen.”

Hearing his voice, Fu Yudie opened her eyes. She offered a weak but determined smile. ”Master, I’m fine...”

”Master...” Zhao Ye and Xu Jin, who were helping nearby, glanced at Zhang Yun.

Zhang Yun stopped their inquiries with a look and changed the subject. ”Did you call the traffic police?”

”We did! They’ll be here shortly,” someone replied.

”I wonder if a tow truck is coming.”

”What a shame! Such a nice car, ruined like this.”

”Thank goodness she’s okay. It would’ve been a real tragedy if something happened to such a young girl.”

The crowd chattered among themselves.

Zhang Yun bent down and picked Fu Yudie up in his arms. ”Zhao Ye, drive Die to the hospital! Yuming saw the accident happen, so he and Xu Jin will stay here to wait for the traffic police.” He then called over an onlooker from the village, asking him to help guide Zhao Ye to the hospital.

”Master, I’m really fine...” Being held by Zhang Yun in front of so many people while soaking wet made Fu Yudie feel a bit embarrassed.

”Go to the hospital for a full checkup. We need to see if you have a concussion or anything else. You were crashed into a river, not knocked down by a punch!” Zhang Yun left no room for argument as he carried her toward the road.

Zhao Ye took Ma Yuming’s keys and hurried to unlock the car. Meanwhile, Xu Jin shot Zhang Yun a reassuring look; he knew exactly what to say and what to keep quiet about.

”A car flipped and exploded over there!”

Everyone had heard the explosion just moments ago, but initially, they didn’t know what it was. Now, hearing someone shouting in the distance, many people immediately rushed over to see the commotion. Two major car accidents occurring consecutively within less than a hundred meters of each other had everyone clicking their tongues in amazement.

Zhang Yun placed Fu Yudie in the car, reminded the villager to lead the way, and told Zhao Ye to drive. He didn’t accompany them to the hospital.

As Zhao Ye drove around the bend, he immediately spotted the explosion site.

”My god! It’s completely torched; anyone inside is done for. Strange, even if they were taking a turn, it shouldn’t have flipped like this,” the villager peered out the window, marveling at the sight.

Zhao Ye chimed in, ”Maybe they were drunk.”

He already had an answer in his mind. He figured his master had left with them just moments ago, and based on the timing, he hadn’t gone far. He must have returned right after the explosion happened here. Was there even a need to spell it out? No wonder he had used a look to stop him and Xu Jin from asking too many questions earlier!

The realization made him a little nervous, but a surge of hot blood quickly followed. Die had been in a car accident and was crashed into the river. Enraged, their master must have pursued the culprit. Perhaps believing her fate was uncertain, he simply eliminated the perpetrator on the spot! Even though their master was younger than them, and they had only acknowledged him a few days ago—with Die not even able to afford the apprenticeship fee—he truly treated them as his own apprentices and fiercely protected them!

Back at the house, Zhang Yun parked his motorcycle and explained the situation to Ouyang Mingruo.

”They absolutely want me dead!” Ouyang Mingruo clenched her fists in indignation. She was saved by Zhang Yun the first time, and last night he had preemptively thwarted and warned the enemy. Yet today, they had struck for a third time!

”Their target was me. Die drove my car and suffered in my place...” She was truly getting emotional. When she had been crashed off the road last time, her injuries were severe enough to make her cough up blood. Even though Zhang Yun’s help had allowed her to recover quickly, that miracle was only in the eyes of doctors like Zhang Lifeng. For her, it had still been a tremendously painful process, one that felt as long as a century!

Die seemed to be fine just now, but she was a Sanda expert with vastly superior reflexes and defensive capabilities. If it had been Ouyang Mingruo herself, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Zhang Yun grabbed her shoulders. ”I’ll go back with you.”

Still enraged, Ouyang Mingruo looked a bit surprised. ”Are you pitying me?”

”Originally, I didn’t think I needed to step in, believing my apprentices could protect you well enough. Now it seems the other party won’t rest until they achieve their goal.” Zhang Yun took out the assassin’s phone and found the contact inside. ”It’s definitely an untraceable burner account, but they should be waiting for the results right now.”

”Could it be him?” Ouyang Mingruo had already severed her final blood ties. They had tried to kill her time and time again; was there any need to care about sharing the same father?

Zhang Yun sent the short video of the explosion scene he had taken before leaving.

”You did this?” Ouyang Mingruo snatched the phone and tapped play. Earlier, Zhang Yun had only briefly mentioned that he had dealt with the perpetrator. She had assumed he just beat them up and chased them off like he did last night.

”It wasn’t for you. They hurt my apprentice, and as a master, I can’t tolerate that!”

Ouyang Mingruo grabbed his hand. ”I know you did it for me...” She couldn’t finish her sentence and began to carefully look Zhang Yun up and down.

She had checked him over last night and saw he wasn’t hurt. Coupled with the fact that his apprentices were truly quite capable, she hadn’t bothered to worry just now. But seeing this video, she naturally assumed the situation had been perilous. She had always thought Zhang Yun’s refusal to accompany and protect her was because he was cowardly and afraid of trouble, just as he had claimed. She never expected him to go to such lengths for her! Not even her own father had done that.

Zhang Yun was wearing shorts. As she looked, she immediately noticed a swollen, bruised spot on his leg from an impact.

”Does it hurt?” She squatted down, gently stroked the injury, and looked up at him.

”Their reflexes were fast. I got hit by the car door, but it’s nothing.” Zhang Yun chuckled, not daring to look down at her.

Having her squat in front of him, caressing his leg... This scene really reminded him of certain movies, especially the way she was looking up at him. If he lost his composure, a certain physical reaction might just spring up and smack her right in the face.

Ouyang Mingruo suddenly realized that he might have been injured last night too, only it was hidden under his clothes. If she hadn’t seen this, he definitely wouldn’t have admitted it. She followed the bruised wound upward, wanting to see if there were more severe injuries...

Zhang Yun quickly took two steps back. ”Don’t! You’re going to make me do something I shouldn’t.”

”Stop changing the subject!” Seeing him dodge like that, Ouyang Mingruo assumed the areas covered by his shorts must be even more severely injured. She stubbornly reached out to pull at his clothes.

”It’s just a bump... Given who I am, what’s a little scratch like this?” Zhang Yun looked a bit flustered. ”Stop it. People might actually think that the great Boss Mingruo is trying to take advantage of me.”

Just then, the phone Ouyang Mingruo had tossed on the bed vibrated. Both of their attention immediately shifted to it. The screen lock was already disabled, allowing them to directly see the employer’s reply.

”That’s a massive explosion, but it doesn’t look like the target’s car. Send footage of the target’s death, or a shot confirming the target is inside the car.”

Ouyang Mingruo’s gaze hardened. They truly wouldn’t rest until her death was confirmed!

Zhang Yun patted her shoulder. ”I took this phone to send that message and stall for time. But seeing how cautious the other party is, it won’t buy us much. What are you planning to do?”

”We go to war!” Ouyang Mingruo’s eyes turned sharp and fierce.
