The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Father and Daughter Fall Out

Intellectually, Zhang Yun didn’t want to get too involved or listen to other people’s family affairs. But with such melodramatic gossip unfolding right beside him, he couldn’t help but prick up his ears. His hearing seemed pushed to its absolute limits.

Ouyang Kunpeng gave a bitter laugh. ”I intentionally let you two compete to push you both to improve. Now that you are both outstanding, it’s time to stop. You are both my flesh and blood; I don’t want you two fighting.”

”He wants to kill me!” Ouyang Mingruo said angrily.

”That’s very likely a misunderstanding. Without concrete evidence, it could just be an enemy trying to sow discord. His style of doing things is rather aggressive, but he still has a bottom line...”

Ouyang Mingruo sneered. ”A misunderstanding four times? He tracks me wherever I go. This enemy is truly formidable, aren’t they? Formidable enough to plant a mole right by my side?”

”Calm down. The only thing we could trace last time was an accident. Now you’re talking about three more times. Think about it carefully—could that man, Zhang Yun or whatever his name is, be the problem?”

Hearing this, Zhang Yun slammed his foot on the gas pedal.

Zhang Yun thought, ”Good heavens! I’m just listening to someone else’s gossip, and the fire burns its way to my own head! I knew I shouldn’t get too involved! How many of these wealthy magnates are actually decent people? Ouyang Kunpeng raised his son and daughter like wolves, but he would never let them truly devour each other. So I become the scapegoat he uses to step out of this mess!”

While Zhang Yun was still grumbling inwardly, Ouyang Mingruo cursed out loud, ”I respected you, but I never expected you to say something so shameless! Don’t you have a guilty conscience? If it weren’t for Zhang Yun, I would have died that day!”

”That day...”

”If it weren’t for Zhang Yun, I would have been killed last night and blown up in a gas explosion!

”If it weren’t for Zhang Yun, I would have been rammed into the river again today!

”If it weren’t for Zhang Yun, I would have been splashed with boiling water, stabbed with a knife, and kidnapped just now!”

Ouyang Mingruo was genuinely furious, firing off the accusations in rapid succession. These endless accusations left Ouyang Kunpeng speechless. He had originally wanted to shift the blame. Even if he couldn’t successfully frame someone else, having another suspect would mean she wouldn’t be at Ouyang Chunqiu’s throat. He hadn’t expected Ouyang Mingruo’s reaction to be so intense...

”I will investigate this matter...”

”I don’t need your investigation! Nor do I need you to clean up the aftermath. I’m going to blow this wide open! I only informed you out of respect!” Ouyang Mingruo fell silent for a few seconds after speaking. ”...You can also help him slaughter me!”

”Nonsense!” Ouyang Kunpeng was also furious. How could he possibly help his son kill his daughter? This was essentially an insulting, groundless accusation against him!

Ouyang Mingruo sneered and hung up on him once again. Ever since the last incident, she had been holding back. Her father’s behavior left her deeply dissatisfied, and the ordeals of the past two days finally made her vent everything all at once.

”I’m sorry! Slandering you is truly too much.”

Zhang Yun drove with An Jing. He hadn’t expected Mingruo, despite her extreme emotional agitation, to immediately apologize to him on Ouyang Kunpeng’s behalf the moment she hung up. His anger dissipated instantly. ”You don’t need to apologize for this. As for him... whether he knows or not, he definitely refuses to admit what Ouyang Chunqiu has done. Even if you find hard evidence, someone around Ouyang Chunqiu will eventually take the fall.”

”Check how far ahead the next rest area is. We can buy some medicine to treat your injuries,” he added.

”I have taken my Divine Medicine, and my Power is profound, so this little injury is nothing. You should focus your energy on... fighting your war!”

Although Ouyang Mingruo didn’t need to fight personally, she was the commander-in-chief pulling the strings behind the scenes. Now, not only was she going to full-out war with Ouyang Chunqiu, but her father Ouyang Kunpeng would also interfere!

”Alright! Drive carefully.” She didn’t stand on ceremony. Even if her father wouldn’t actually kill her, his attitude just now clearly showed he was protecting Ouyang Chunqiu.

Sitting in the back seat, she pulled out her laptop from her bag, working on both her phone and her computer simultaneously. She deployed her forces, dumped data and information, and so on. To avoid persuasive calls from Ouyang Kunpeng or anyone else, she directly switched her phone to silent mode.

Zhang Yun drove in the front, inexplicably feeling very fired up. As Ouyang Mingruo turned ruthless in her rebellion against her family, it brought a rather vigorous An Jing to the car. Even though she didn’t say a word, the palpable tension of a brewing storm filled the air.

Since Ouyang Kunpeng wanted to pin the blame on him, Zhang Yun could no longer stay out of it. He began silently analyzing the situation himself. Although he didn’t understand the full picture, perhaps a bystander could see things more clearly?

The handling of the traffic accident last time, Vice Director Zhang’s attitude, and other factors all proved that the Ouyang Family wielded immense influence. Ouyang Mingruo hadn’t mentioned last night’s incident, but she had utilized her connections this afternoon. Not much time had passed since the incident at the rest area. Ouyang Mingruo had said she wouldn’t clean up the mess and wanted to blow things out of proportion, but Ouyang Kunpeng would definitely handle it. No matter what method he used, he would certainly suppress the news, so there was no need to fear trouble from the authorities.

The car had plunged into the river, yet the enemy still managed to set up an ambush accurately at the rest area. This meant the other party had a precise grasp of their route! It was possible that there was a tracker in Ouyang Mingruo’s bag, phone, or other belongings. In that case, leaving now still wouldn’t allow them to escape Ouyang Chunqiu’s faction.

Zhang Yun had no professional Experience in this area. It would be best if he could search her bag and find it, but if it was something like malware implanted in her phone, should they just throw the phone away?

Zhang Yun thought, ”If we can’t shake them off, what should we do? Even if we deviate from the navigation route and take a further highway exit, the enemy will still be able to discover us in advance and rush over to wait for us!”

After pondering over it, Zhang Yun decided to beat them at their own game. He would act as if he hadn’t thought of this layer at all, so whether they ended up fighting or fleeing, they could be prepared in advance.

After a long time, Ouyang Mingruo finally answered a continuously ringing incoming call.

”Ouyang Mingruo!” Ouyang Kunpeng’s furious roar immediately sounded from the phone.

”Spit it out, I’m very busy!” Ouyang Mingruo was extremely cold.

”What have you done?! Even if you have some data or evidence, you could bring it up at the board meeting or report it to me! What is the meaning of releasing it publicly like this? Do you insist on sending him to prison?”

”Heh! I told you, I am going to slaughter him! Sending him to prison is just the first step. I can nail him to the wall!”

”Nonsense! Is this how an older sister behaves? No matter what he’s like, he is still your younger brother, a blood relative who shares half your bloodline!” Ouyang Kunpeng rebuked angrily.

”Older sister? What a joke! Would you try to kill my aunt time and time again? I have never been afraid of him competing with me or trying to beat me down! But that animal wants me dead, and I’m still supposed to treat him as family? I’m sorry, but I’m not that much of a saint!”

Ouyang Mingruo realized that the moment she answered her father’s calls, she would become so agitated she’d practically explode with rage. She quickly took a deep breath to calm herself down. To go to war, one must remain absolutely calm!

”I scolded him! There is something wrong behind this incident. He swore he didn’t do it! Even if you don’t believe him, do you not even believe me?” Ouyang Kunpeng also forced himself to suppress his anger.

”I don’t believe you!” Mingruo fired right back.

Ouyang Kunpeng nearly choked to death on his own words. He never expected that there would come a day when his proud and precious daughter would act like this.

”Do you really want to fight him to the bitter end? If you ruin his reputation and destroy him, your own image and public standing will also completely collapse! The family’s reputation will take a massive hit. What good will that do?!”

”What good?” Ouyang Mingruo sneered. ”What good could it possibly do me? I am just a woman! Ultimately, you are going to support your precious son to succeed you. Heh! Someone wants my life, so can’t I just vent my anger?!”
