The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Anning was afraid that something untoward might happen if they waited too long, so she immediately urged Xiao Yuan to drive her to Mrs. Rong’s.

Now she was still in charge of Mrs. Rong’s, and Rong Junhao couldn’t act like a normal person for a while; it would take time for him to gain control of Mrs. Rong’s. Anning felt the need to make more arrangements while she had the chance, and at the very least, she needed to terminate Xiao Yuan’s contract.

Xiao Yuan and Anning went together to the underground parking garage of Mrs. Rong’s. Anning got out of the car and handed Xiao Yuan a card: ”First, cancel the lease on the apartment you’re renting. You know the password to my place. I’ll call the property management in a bit to add your personal information, then you can move in.”

”Alright, I’ll move in and tidy up your room while I’m at it. Come back soon.”

Xiao Yuan pulled Anning close and gave her a kiss on the cheek: ”I’ll make something delicious tonight.”

”Alright.” Anning was a bit reluctant to part and hugged Xiao Yuan with a smile: ”I’ll introduce you to my mom later.”

She turned and walked towards the elevator, and Xiao Yuan waited until she was completely out of sight before driving away.

Once in the elevator, Anning called the property management to have Xiao Yuan’s information added and requested another access card to be sent to her home.

Having settled these affairs, Anning went into the office, sat down, and used the internal phone to call in a Mrs. Rong’s assistant surnamed Meng.

”Assistant Meng, ask President Zhou of Zicheng Entertainment to come over.”

After Assistant Meng went out to make the call, it took about half an hour before President Zhou came in, sweating profusely.

”Mr. Yun, you wanted to see me?”

Anning stood up with a smile: ”Please have a seat, President Zhou. I asked you to come over to learn about the situation at Zicheng Entertainment.”

President Zhou had prepared himself. He sat down and began his report, and Anning listened for a while and nodded: ”Is there a newcomer at Zicheng Entertainment named Xiao Yuan?”

President Zhou truly didn’t know; he normally didn’t pay attention to such details.

”Why? Is there a problem with this newcomer?”

President Zhou scrutinized Anning, unsure why she was asking about such a minor figure.

Anning sat down on the sofa opposite, and Assistant Meng brought over some tea.

”Just came across it by chance. This newcomer’s identity seems problematic. Signing him might bring unnecessary disputes to our company in the future. Anyway, he’s a newcomer who hasn’t made it big yet, so let’s have him terminate the contract.”

Anning remarked casually, and President Zhou pondered for a moment: ”Alright, I’ll have someone handle it once I get back.”

Anning looked up at President Zhou: ”Do it as soon as possible; preferably today.”

”Alright.” President Zhou was unsure why Anning was concerned about a newcomer, but since it was a trivial matter, he didn’t want to spoil the relationship over this.

After some thought, President Zhou asked Anning: ”I heard Young Master Rong has woken up.”

Anning smiled: ”Yes, he just woke up today. But the doctor said his body wasn’t physically damaged, and he’s very clear-headed now, so he should recover quickly.”

Upon mentioning this, Anning queried President Zhou: ”So, now that Young Master Rong is awake, are you planning to act two-faced with me?”

President Zhou hastily waved his hand: ”I wouldn’t dare; I wouldn’t dare. Just concerned about Young Master Rong.”

”Over the years, President Zhou has managed Zicheng Entertainment well. Once Brother Jun Hao’s health improves, I’ll make sure to commend you on it.” Anning stood up, and President Zhou quickly followed suit to shake her hand: ”Mrs. Rong’s current standing owes much to you; you’ve worked the hardest.”

”It’s all a result of collective efforts.” Anning said as she escorted President Zhou out, and before President Zhou left, Anning added: ”Please pay extra attention to the matter I mentioned.”

After seeing President Zhou off, Anning handled some more affairs; Feng Na brought over some tasks from Mrs. Yun’s that needed attention, which Anning also tackled. It wasn’t until nearly seven o’clock that Anning finished everything and left work with Feng Na.

Feng Na was quite happy: ”Looks like Young Master Rong’s awakening has put Mr. Yun in a good mood; work efficiency has improved significantly.”

Anning got into the car: ”It’s not because Rong Junhao woke up, but because I found a beauty today.”

Uh?

Feng Na looked back at Anning: ”You’re not serious, are you?”

Anning nodded: ”I’m very serious.”

”This....” Feng Na was indeed shocked: ”I thought you were just teasing, given that he still seems like a child; even though you’re young, your maturity.... Besides, Rong Junhao is awake, and your marriage might face challenges; when that happens, what will he do?”

”The marriage is already over, and there’s no relationship between me and Rong Junhao. If any, it’s just out of respect for the long-standing bond between our families; nothing more. Xiao Yuan is my boyfriend, the one who will be with me through thick and thin, and I’m clear on that.” As soon as Anning finished speaking, her phone rang. She glanced down to see a message from Xiao Yuan asking if she was coming home soon.

Anning replied with a smile, then cautioned Feng Na: ”A Yuan is young and simple-minded; don’t mention Rong Junhao to him.”

”Understood, understood.” Feng Na rolled her eyes at Anning: ”How could I not be discreet? But are you planning to keep him hidden away?”

”Why not?” Anning touched her chin: ”Too bad I don’t have a mansion.”

She stretched: ”Looks like I need to work harder, maybe build a mansion for A Yuan someday.”

Feng Na could see that Anning valued Xiao Yuan greatly, musing internally: ”I just asked President Zhou earlier – the contract termination is done; what are your plans next? Are you still letting him try in the entertainment industry?”

”Let him go.” Anning nodded: ”It’s his aspiration; let him give it a shot, maybe he’ll make a name for himself.”

”But....” Feng Na cautiously asked: ”That circle is quite chaotic; are you comfortable with it?”

Anning was amused and pointed to herself: ”Sister Feng, am I lacking in appearance?”

Feng Na shook her head: ”You’re stunning; of all the people I’ve met, there’s no one better looking than you.”

Anning continued: ”Who’s wealthier than me?”

Feng Na shook her head again: ”Among women of this age, you’re the richest.”

”How’s my personality?” Anning listed: ”My education? My skills?”

Feng Na sighed: ”Yes, you’re as lovely as a flower, wealthy and influential, with a straightforward personality, educated at a prestigious institution, able to thrive in business and manage household affairs smoothly. You’re the best.”

Anning replied: ”Glad you understand. With a woman as excellent as myself, Xiao Yuan should know better if he’s not blind or lacking brains. Besides, having seen someone like me, would he find anyone else appealing?”

That seems reasonable.

Feng Na nodded: ”If you say so.”

Anning pondered for a moment: ”But I’m not at ease leaving him with others; we don’t have an entertainment company under Mrs. Yun’s. Do you think I should open one to support him?”

Feng Na thought Xiao Yuan must have truly enchanted Anning; she’s genuinely willing to set up an entertainment company for one person.

”You don’t think it’s too much trouble? You’re already exhausted; and without guidance, that circle is hard to break into.”

Feng Na didn’t approve of Anning’s approach: ”Mrs. Yun’s primarily focuses on real industry; we haven’t dealt with entertainment, and given Mrs. Yun’s massive capital, entering the entertainment sector would be overwhelmingly impactful. Would the industry giants be willing? Don’t risk causing widespread discontent because of you.”

Anning considered for a moment: ”What you say makes sense; entering this field under Mrs. Yun’s name isn’t convenient. Let’s find a reliable crew for A Yuan to join with investment.”

”That’ll work.” Feng Na nodded: ”I’ll keep an eye out for that.”
