The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

”Dad, I’m going to call Doctor Lu.”

Xiao Zhe stood up to make the call.

Xiao Yuan coughed and held him back: ”Why call?”

”I want Doctor Lu to see if there’s something wrong with your head.”

Xiao Yuan kicked him: ”Sit down and listen properly.”

Xiao Zhe had no choice but to sit down obediently.

Xiao Yuan sighed: ”Xiao Zhe, actually you’re not my child, you were adopted by me, when I was young I had an accident, couldn’t have kids, I didn’t know at the time either, later married your mom for several years without children, it was only after a hospital visit that we found out. I originally thought it’s fine not to have kids, saves the trouble, then that year I went out to find work, came back nearly midnight, heard a child’s crying from afar, came closer and saw you placed on the ground, you were born not long, looked pitiful and brought you back, your mom after a few days couldn’t bear to send you away, she liked you so I discussed with her to keep you.”

”That’s impossible.”

Xiao Zhe didn’t believe it at all, shaking his head vigorously: ”Dad, you’re talking nonsense, that’s not possible, it’s been over forty years, I never... Yes, when mom was alive she never said I wasn’t her biological child, she even talked about how she felt when pregnant with me.”

”Your mom was afraid you’d find your biological parents if you knew, she dared not tell you this, she purposefully told you that.”

Xiao Yuan said in a deep voice.

”But, but I, the household registration doesn’t say I’m adopted.”

Xiao Zhe wanted to argue, wanting to confirm Xiao Yuan was just scaring him, that he’s Xiao Yuan’s biological son, not adopted.

Xiao Yuan shook his head: ”Back then the household registration management was loose, I arranged it with someone, in the old hometown a few elderly knew about this, but they’re all gone now, young people wouldn’t know.”

”You say it isn’t so it isn’t?” Xiao Zhe got angry: ”Dad, you’re getting senile, that old demon’s pillow talk has made you disown your own son.”

Anning felt wronged: ”Xiao Zhe, you can’t say such things carelessly, how could I know? And besides, matters between you father and son, why blame me? If you want to know, isn’t it easy? Just do a paternity test and it’s all clear, do you have to point at me to curse?”

After finishing, Anning even acted coyly with Xiao Yuan: ”A Yuan, I see he’s really not your son, look at how sharp and capable you are, how could you have such a useless son? Look how easy this is, yet he would rather doubt than go for a test, he says you’re senile, but it’s really him who’s clueless.”

Xiao Yuan patted Anning’s hand: ”I know your grievances, and because I know, that’s why I’m speaking out today. Rest assured, I won’t let them curse you again.”

Only then did Anning smile: ”A Yuan, I knew you were the best.”

Xiao Yuan looked at Xiao Zhe: ”Let’s go, since you don’t believe, we’ll go to the hospital for a paternity test.”

”I want to personally watch the sampling, to make sure you haven’t bribed the doctor.”

Xiao Zhe stood with neck Straight, giving conditions to Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan laughed in anger: ”Why would I bribe the doctor for this? If you’re really my son, would I bribe the doctor to say otherwise, I’m not senile.”

”We’re going too.”

Li Wanping stood up.

She was still dizzy, how did the topic twist around to Xiao Zhe’s parentage?

So, the whole family went to the hospital.

Xiao Yuan found Doctor Lu, who arranged the paternity test because they paid extra for expedited processing, results were ready within hours after sampling.

Xiao Yuan didn’t look at the results, gestured for Xiao Zhe to do so.

Xiao Zhe and Xiao Zhang leaned in to see the results, both faces turned dark.

”How is it?”

Xiao Tong pulled out the results for a glance, instantly turning pale.

The results clearly stated they weren’t a father and son.

It meant Xiao Yuan was right, Xiao Zhe was not his biological child.

This erased his biggest edge against Xi Jingchen, leaving them to watch helplessly as Xiao Yuan left the Xiao Family to Xi Jingchen.

”Dad.”

Xiao Zhe wanted to say something.

Xiao Yuan raised his hand: ”I originally thought, even if you’re not biological, I’ve raised you for so long, there’s affection, planned to leave you some shares, but you’re all too disappointing, fighting greedily for inheritance, capable of anything, any sinister means. Xiao Zhe, you’d abandon your own daughter, Xiao Tong you’d trap your dad and brother, Li Wanping you’d harm your own son, how can I keep you near?”

Xiao Yuan took the test results: ”I’ll use this to apply for dissolving the father-son relation, from now on, we have nothing to do with each other, and when I’m too old to move, don’t expect you to care for me.”

After speaking, Xiao Yuan took Anning, glanced at the stunned Xi Zhenhua and the others: ”Let’s go, back home.”

It was only after Xiao Yuan left with Anning’s family that Xiao Zhe came to his senses.

He hurried after them, only to see the car tail lights disappear.

”Dad, I...”

Li Wanping also chased out.

Looking at Xiao Zhe, there was evident disdain in her eyes.

Her eyes shifted multiple times, plotting something unknown.

Xiao Yuan truly did as he said, later applied to dissolve the father-son relationship with Xiao Zhe.

Moreover, news spread about Xiao Zhe’s family’s schemes, bribing people against their own father, and many disgusting acts were revealed.

Initially, many in the circle said Xiao Yuan was senile, driving his son out for the sake of a grandson brought by a new wife, not leaving inheritance to biological son and grandson, instead giving it to outsiders.

Now everyone says Xiao Yuan isn’t senile at all, Xiao Zhe wasn’t biological, so choosing capable Xi Jingchen makes sense, as the leader of a large enterprise, couldn’t be led by a fool.

After dissolving relations, Xiao Yuan started reclaiming what he gave Xiao Zhe.

Xiao Zhe’s bank card was frozen, many properties under his name were reclaimed, but Xiao Yuan didn’t completely cut them off.

He left Xiao Zhe’s family a large flat in the city, and some stores for them to live and collect rent.

Yet, used to extravagance, Xiao Zhe’s family found it inadequate for living.

Especially Li Wanping, her usual jewelry and handbag expenses surpassed a store’s annual rent. Having been a wealthy wife for twenty years, switching to a frugal homemaker was unbearable for her.

Xi Zhenhua, meanwhile, didn’t return to Xiao Family after the hospital, but to a hotel.

Ni Si was there waiting for him.

After returning, Ni Si came to his room.

Xi Zhenhua sat quietly for a while before sharing the night’s events with Ni Si.

”Is this true?”

Ni Si also found it too strange: ”This Mr. Xiao really knows when to hold on and let go.”

Xi Zhenhua nodded: ”Probably he was angered badly, those things one by one, I felt chilled listening, let alone Mr. Xiao.”

He spoke while holding Ni Si’s hand: ”Although my mom married Mr. Xiao, I’ve never planned to get anything from Xiao Family, you see, I’m doing well, I have a house in the Provincial City, saved some money, now managing a company here in the county, salary’s good, I can support you and Song Song, so let’s not think about Xiao Family’s money, if mom ever needs me, I’ll care for her, if she dislikes my clumsy care, I’ll just frequently visit her, nothing more... Let’s live our life well.”

Ni Si smiled.

”I think the same; I’m not greedy, with you being good to me and Song Song, if we live happily, that’s enough. People ought to be content, being content leads to happiness.”
