The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

When Anning and Xiao Yuan returned home together, Li Wanping was mocking Xiao Tong.

Anning heard Li Wanping’s somewhat sharp voice as soon as she entered the door.

”Oh, poor thing! After being engaged for so many years, now about to be dumped by the fiancé. No matter how hard she tries to please Mrs. Fu, if Fu Xinhong doesn’t care, it’s all in vain.”

”What are you talking about?”

Anning changed her shoes, sat down and glanced sideways at Li Wanping, then called Xiao Tong over to her side: ”What’s going on? If Fu Xinhong really has a mistress outside, then break up as soon as possible to save yourself from the mistreatment.”

Xiao Tong’s eyes were red: ”Grandma, I... I still want to try. I want to see if I can win Brother Xinhong back, after all, we’ve been together for so many years...”

”If you want to try, go ahead and try.”

Anning was merely putting on a show, not genuinely considering things for Xiao Tong.

If it were her own child, she would have forced a breakup long ago. Are there no other men in this world, that only Fu Family’s man will do?

Xiao Yuan sat down beside Anning: ”In the next few days, you should clarify things with the Fu Family. Speak to Fu Xinhong properly. If he really fancies that woman, I’ll go to Fu Family to cancel the engagement. Our Xiao Family is not inferior to Fu Family, this engagement wasn’t something we desperately needed, and we won’t follow Fu Family in a disgrace.”

”I understand.” Xiao Tong appeared obedient at this moment: ”Grandpa, I will think carefully, and I will also clarify things with Brother Xinhong.”

Xiao Yuan nodded.

He turned his head and started lecturing Li Wanping: ”Even if Tongtong hasn’t called you Mom, she has been calling you Aunt Li for so many years. When the child has troubles, instead of thinking of ways to help, you come home and gloat in front of the child. Is this how an elder should act?”

”Exactly.” Anning smiled, snuggling into Xiao Yuan’s embrace. ”Old man is right. Isn’t it outlandish to mock your own family like this? Did Fu Family give you some benefit or something? If Tongtong is not well, does it bring pride to your face? Such pettiness, oh, it’s like... wearing a Dragon Robe doesn’t make one a Crown Prince.”

Li Wanping was so angry her heart ached.

”What are you saying, you mock Tongtong is wrong, but you mock me is right?”

”Old man, look... she’s being harsh to me.”

Anning turned her face, acting coy with Xiao Yuan: ”I won’t accept it; all your family members bully me like this. I have no authority as an elder; no one listens to me. What’s the use of marrying you?”

Xiao Yuan quickly comforted Anning: ”Alright, alright, don’t be angry, don’t stoop to their level. Don’t cry, it makes my heart ache.”

Seeing Anning about to cry, Xiao Yuan swiftly half-soothed, half-hugged her and led her towards the bedroom, speaking softly as they walked, ”I originally thought of giving both Tongtong and Xiao Zhang a share of the stocks, but seeing their lack of spirit, forget it. I won’t give them any shares. Since they are upsetting you, how about I transfer their shares to you?”

Anning immediately stopped crying, wiped her tears, and looked at Xiao Yuan with surprise: ”Really? How much stock?”

Xiao Yuan held up one finger: ”I originally planned to give each of them five percent, combined it’s ten percent, and now I’ll give this ten percent to you.”

”You are really wonderful.”

No matter where they were, Anning hugged Xiao Yuan and kissed him on the cheek: ”A Yuan, I love you to death. Do you know how much I love you? Stocks or not, I really don’t care; what I care about is your affection for me. I’m very happy that you have this heart.”

Xiao Yuan chuckled with joy: ”I’ve always been considerate of you, let alone ten percent. I could give you everything. Don’t ever be sad again, and don’t cry. If they dare to bully you, just tell me, I’ll deal with them.”

”Mm, mm.” Anning nodded vigorously: ”It’s truly a blessing to rely on you. You don’t know how hard life used to be. Even when bullied, no one cared; when sick, I had to bear it alone. It’s tough living day by day, luckily heaven treated me well by bringing me to you...”

Xiao Tong and Li Wanping just watched as Xiao Yuan and Anning flirted openly in the living room, the affection between them made both feel they couldn’t bear to watch.

Of course, what really infuriated them was losing the stocks.

Five percent of stocks each, how much money is that? Just gone, flew away from them, landed right in Anning’s pocket.

Anning snuggled up to Xiao Yuan, coquettishly winking at Li Wanping.

Li Wanping was so angry she was about to explode, she couldn’t watch anymore, turned around, and went upstairs to her room.

Xiao Tong also huffily walked out.

Once inside her room, Li Wanping grabbed her phone to call Xiao Zhe: ”Xiao Zhe, hurry back, you have no idea how outrageous your dad is.”

”What happened?”

Xiao Zhe had been keeping quiet the past few days, mainly because Yu Yu’s incident scared him. Who knows if the next woman to approach him is bought off by someone, and if she wants his life too. Anyways, he’s been retracting all flirtatious thoughts for now.

He was out having dinner with a few friends when he got Li Wanping’s call, and he was a bit tipsy from a few drinks.

”Your dad wants to give that old demon ten percent of stocks.”

Li Wanping’s sentence snapped Xiao Zhe sober instantly.

”What, say that again.”

Li Wanping repeated it.

Xiao Zhe couldn’t drink anymore, and immediately stood: ”Sorry, there’s some trouble at home, I need to head back first.”

When Xiao Zhe rushed back, Li Wanping was hiding in her room crying.

Seeing Xiao Zhe, she cried even louder: ”You finally came back, you know what that stepmother said to me? That I’m petty, said even if I wore a Dragon Robe, I wouldn’t look like the Crown Prince...”

”Just talk about the stock issue.”

Xiao Zhe cared little about Li Wanping’s grievances; his primary concern was the company’s stocks.

Li Wanping recounted the entire evening’s events: ”That old demon just cried and acted coy, and to please her, the old man decided to give the stocks originally intended for Tongtong and Xiao Zhang to that old demon, a total of ten percent. Ah Zhe, I really feel for you; you’ve worked hard for so many years and are the only son of the old man, yet he doesn’t give you a single bit of stock, now it goes to an outsider instead.”

At this point, Li Wanping suddenly recalled something.

”Ah Zhe, this is terrible; when the old man married the old demon, he didn’t make any property agreements, meaning if the old man passes first one day, most of the assets would belong to that old demon, and you, his biological son, would be pushed behind.”

Xiao Zhe was already aware of this, but he couldn’t outmaneuver Xiao Yuan and was helpless.

”I know, but what can we do?”

He ruffled his hair vigorously: ”Even without discussing who goes first, at this rate, it won’t be long before that woman charmed the old man into giving her everything.”

”This won’t do, this can’t happen.”

Li Wanping fretted: ”All of these should be yours; you are the Xiao Family’s heir, why give them to her.”
