Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 576: Chapter 323: Longing

The story ended, and for a moment, the air was filled with silence, no one spoke first.

Naoki recalled the scene inside the fearsome cave he had seen before, where polished stone beds, tables, and stools were placed in that narrow space.

He could almost imagine the scene back then in his mind.

A man from a foreign land arrived with Ogerpon and found the cave, intending to settle there.

Together, they found a rough large stone on the mountain and brought it back to the entrance of the cave, with anticipation for a new life, they carefully polished the surface of the stone smooth.

The bed for sleeping, the table for eating, the stool for resting...

Until the arrival of those three greedy Pokemon disrupted this peaceful life.

The man lost his life in the incident, leaving Ogerpon alone in that cave filled with memories.

At that moment, Naoki finally understood why Ogerpon was so sad when he asked if it had always lived here alone.

”Sigh.”

The old man in front let out a long sigh: ”The real history is completely opposite to the legends known by the villagers, if they knew that the three Loyal Three they buried with honor were the bad Pokemon, I can’t imagine what would happen.”

No one could guarantee they wouldn’t be treated as heretics and suffer persecution again.

Naoki nodded: ”I understand.”

The old man glanced over at the Pokemon beside him and was about to say something when the door was suddenly pushed open.

”Bang!”

A little boy of about four or five years old and a slightly older girl barged in directly.

Their faces were full of anger: ”It’s too much! How can the villagers treat Ghost like this!”

Seeing the two, the old man and Yukiko were shocked, quickly pulling them in, they checked outside to ensure no one else heard, then sighed in relief and closed the door properly.

Yukiko covered the girl’s mouth, warning: ”Keep your voice down, you must not let this out!”

The girl was upset: ”But...but!”

The boy was silent, but his expression showed that he was definitely angry too.

The old man looked helpless: ”Eavesdropping on adult conversations is not what good kids do!”

Feeling guilty, the siblings lowered their heads.

The old man sighed: ”Sigh, I was planning to tell you when you were older, but since you’ve already heard, keep this truth in your heart and never tell it outside!”

Yukiko looked at Naoki: ”Sorry for letting you see this, these two kids are my granddaughter Carmine and grandson Kieran.”

Naoki nodded at the unfamiliar pair in front of him, kind of greeting them.

After calming down the grandchildren’s emotions, the old man looked at Naoki and said:

”Judging by your appearance, you’re a strong Trainer, right? In that case, go capture Ogerpon in the Trainer’s way and take it away from here!”

At this, Naoki thought to himself that it would be easy if Ogerpon were a wild Pokemon, but clearly, Ogerpon wasn’t a wild Pokemon.

He was willing to take Ogerpon away to start a new life, but whether Ogerpon was willing to leave this place full of memories was uncertain.

”I’ll give it a try,” Naoki said.

”I’ll count on you then,” the old man nodded: ”If you need any help, feel free to come to us, it’s also a way to make up for the villagers’ transgressions against Ogerpon!”

Naoki nodded and then stood up to bid farewell to the old man, turning to leave, ready to see Ogerpon again.

However, before he could walk out the door, the two children named Carmine and Kieran chased after him.

”Uncle!” Carmine shouted.

Naoki’s face darkened, I’m not that old yet?!

Carmine turned to her brother hiding behind her, looking both disappointed and frustrated, then roared: ”Kieran you coward, hurry up and say it!”

Kieran hesitated but then gathered courage to ask: ”Well, are you a Trainer?”

Naoki looked at him and nodded: ”Sort of!”

Main job Rancher, side job Trainer, it’s fine.

Kieran sighed in relief and then whispered: ”Since I was little, I really liked Ogerpon, after hearing everything grandpa said, I hope it can have a better life, so if it wants to leave here, please take good care of it!”

Naoki was slightly taken aback, then smiled and nodded: ”I will.”

Saying goodbye to the siblings, Naoki rode Koraidon to Ghost Mountain again, finding that cave once more.

Unexpectedly, Ogerpon wasn’t there.

Naoki looked around but didn’t find Ogerpon anywhere, it seemed it had gone out.

With nothing else to do, he returned to Mossui Town.

*

Late night, Ghost Mountain.

Ogerpon sat on the stone stool hugging its mask as usual, but compared to before, there was a pile of Berries on the stone table today.

Ogerpon dazedly recalled the events of the past two days.

That day, it met the strange human on Ghost Mountain.

In its memory, it had been a very, very long time since anyone dared to come here.
