Chapter 568: Chapter 320: Making Friends with Slugma

Naoki: ”...”

These Trainers are just way too fixated on Pokemon battles, aren’t they?

But to quickly find Slugma and leave this scorching place, Naoki stopped and asked, ”Do you know where any Slugma are?”

Boy: ”Slugma? Of course, I know!”

That’s great, Naoki straightforwardly said, ”Then let’s have a battle now!”

”Eh?!” The topic switched too fast, and the boy couldn’t react.

But soon, he came to his senses, his eyes full of fighting spirit, ”I’m looking forward to it! Infernape, let’s go!”

The Infernape nodded coolly and then stepped forward.

On Naoki’s side, he sent out Koraidon.

In wild Pokemon battles, there aren’t many restrictions. Once the Trainers and Pokemon are ready, the battle officially begins.

The boy looked at Koraidon and said, ”Although I’ve never seen that Pokemon before, we absolutely won’t lose! Infernape, Flame Wheel!”

The command was given, and the flames on Infernape soared high with a whoosh.

Fire engulfed its body, and Infernape rushed straight at Koraidon.

Naoki wiped the sweat off his forehead, looked at the scene, and directly said, ”Collision Course!”

”Ah gass!”

Koraidon nodded slightly, its crimson body leapt up, scarlet energy flowed over it, and an ancient aura spread rapidly.

Its form changed quickly, carrying the momentum of shattering the ground, heading for Infernape.

The two Pokemon directly collided, terrifying energy continually impacted, followed by a violent explosion.

Infernape was blasted away on the spot, falling to the ground and losing the ability to battle.

Boy: ”???”

So... so strong!

The boy was utterly shocked, unable to regain his senses for a moment.

What in the world is that Pokemon? How did it take out his most prized Infernape in one move?

He once participated in the Lily of the Valley Conference and reached the top eight!

But now, he was defeated in one move by the opponent...

The boy’s brain was racing, and then he thought of a shocking idea.

Could this person be a Champion-level Trainer?

Seeing the boy looking bewildered, seemingly still not reacting.

Naoki awkwardly coughed, ”It’s over.”

The boy was thoroughly beaten. He stepped forward and fed Infernape a potion to restore its stamina, then returned it to its Poke Ball to rest.

”A bet is a bet, I’ll take you to the Slugma’s habitat now!” the boy said.

”Thanks.” Naoki expressed his gratitude, now he could save quite a bit of time.

”You’re not from Kitakami, are you?” the boy curiously asked, ”Oh right, my name’s Helian, what’s yours?”

”Naoki.” Naoki replied, ”I’m from the Paldea Region.”

”Pal... Paldea Region?” Helian was utterly shocked; that’s on the other side of the planet! Coming from so far away...

”Yes.” Naoki nodded slightly, ”I’m here on business.”

No wonder, Helian realized, no wonder he didn’t recognize these two Pokemon, they were from the Paldea Region!

He took out the Pokedex and scanned Koraidon and Pawmot.

The result said ”Not found, belongs to newly discovered Pokemon species.”

Seeing his curiosity about Koraidon and Pawmot, Naoki explained, ”This one is Koraidon, this one is Pawmot, both are Paldea Region Pokemon. You’re from Sinnoh, right?”

Helian’s eyes widened, ”How did you figure that out?”

Naoki: ”...because Infernape is one of the Starter Pokemon given to new Trainers by the Sinnoh League.”

Helian smiled embarrassedly, ”I almost forgot, but speaking of, your strength is really impressive, should be at Champion Level, right?”

”I don’t know either.” Naoki shook his head, unsure about this topic, as he hadn’t participated in the Champion assessment.

Besides, most of his Pokemon were grown strong by eating food, making them hard to evaluate.

Helian was momentarily stunned: ”What do you mean?”

Naoki honestly said, ”I’ve never participated in a Champion assessment because my main job is as a Rancher. I’m here in Kitakami to conduct agricultural exchange with the local farmers.”

Helian: ”???”

He opened his mouth, even more shocked.

He knew about Ranchers and farmers, but this Rancher in front of him seemed a bit different from his image of Ranchers.

”With your strength, it feels like there’s a good chance you could directly become Champion if you participate in the Lily of the Valley Conference held in the Sinnoh Region.” Helian said.

”Lily of the Valley Conference?” Naoki raised an eyebrow, thinking of the Legendary Beast guy from the anime upon hearing those four words.

”That’s right! It’s the grandest conference in the Sinnoh Region!” Helian introduced, ”Only Trainers who have collected eight badges can compete!”

”If you win the conference championship, not only can you gain fame and a large cash prize, but you’ll also have the chance to battle against the regional Champion, Cynthia!”

Cynthia... Naoki’s mind flashed with the image of a blonde, cool beauty, and he chuckled, saying:

”Everyone has different ambitions! Rather than becoming a Champion, I prefer living with the Pokemon I love.”
