Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 571: Chapter 321: Is It a Ghost?! (Part 2)

If it weren’t for the fact that Slugma doesn’t have the Gluttony characteristic, Naoki would suspect that this Slugma’s characteristic is Gluttony.

It’s undeniable; Slugma really is a naturally born mobile heater.

As soon as it’s released, the room’s temperature begins to rise, becoming cozy and warm.

”Interesting.” Naoki observed the interaction between Pawmo and Slugma, contemplating silently.

With Slugma around, fireplaces won’t need to use firewood in the future.

”Yes, besides the fireplace, I need to build a special Slugma heating pipeline throughout the house, connecting all the rooms.”

Just like in that anime, Slugma can freely crawl through the pipes, going wherever it pleases in daily life.

Meanwhile, the warmth it generates while moving can continuously heat the entire house.

Thinking about it, the Fire Type Slugma is truly convenient; it’s simply the best partner for cold winter days!

Naoki sat on a chair watching Pawmo and Slugma while deep in thought.

Soon, Slugma filled its belly.

Faced with Pawmo’s friendly gestures, wanting to befriend it, Slugma was very happy.

Its joy was so great that several plumes of white smoke instantly sprayed out from its red-hot body.

”Boom boom boom!”

Suddenly—coughing from the smoke filled the room, and Naoki quickly opened the window to ventilate, then turned back to look at the silly Slugma.

Why does he suddenly feel this Slugma isn’t very smart?

Seeming to realize it caused trouble for everyone, the simple-minded Slugma was a bit flustered.

Fortunately, nobody was bothered; instead, they showed friendly smiles to it.

Pawmo comforted it: ”Pamo pamo!”

Slugma blinked its eyes, then began to feel happy again.

Immediately after, there were more booming sounds in the room.

Naoki: ”...”

Indeed not very smart...

But, perhaps it’s precisely this simple-mindedness, even seeming a bit foolish, that makes it willing to become friends with Pawmo?

Just like those children who have just started kindergarten.

Early the next morning, Naoki followed the village chief to the local apple orchard.

Looking at the apple trees covering the hills, Naoki thought: No wonder Kitakami is famous for producing apples!

”Here we are; this is Apple Hill!” the village chief introduced with a smile: ”This hill has a wide view, without any terrain obstructions, allowing sunlight to fully shine on every apple, making them grow big and round.”

Naoki looked up, and sure enough, saw the apples on the trees were all plump, bright red, and shiny, looking very tempting at first glance.

The village chief stepped forward and picked a few, handing them to him: ”Try them! They’re a specialty of Kitakami!”

Naoki reached out to take them and looked down; the information of the apple appeared in his mind.

[Kitakami Apple: A high-quality apple, a specialty of Kitakami, famous worldwide.]

Naoki glanced at it and handed one of the big, round apples to Koraidon, tasting it together.

Taking a bite, the sweet apple juice burst forth in his mouth instantly.

Really good, Naoki nodded approvingly.

”Nice, isn’t it?” the village chief asked, his face filled with pride and joy when talking about his apples.

Naoki responded affirmatively, looking out at the vibrant apple orchard, feeling: This is truly fertile land!

Like the rice field before, various Pokemon also live in the apple orchard.

There are Poochyena guarding the apple trees, Sentret running all around the orchard, slender Bellsprout, and Starly perched on branches.

It’s clear Kitakami has fully integrated Pokemon into agricultural development here.

Following Naoki’s gaze, the village chief also saw those Pokemon, proudly proclaiming: ”These are the Pokemon helping in the orchard!”

”Poochyena can guard the orchard to prevent wild Pokemon from coming to destroy the apple trees, and Sentret can patrol the entire hill, notifying Poochyena of the situation.”

”Starly can provide pest control services for the apple trees, allowing them to grow smoothly, and Bellsprout can not only utilize Grass Type Energy to cultivate the apple trees but also use Vine Whip to help us pick apples.”

”Does Paldea also involve Pokemon in the agricultural industry?” the village chief asked.

Naoki hasn’t visited other farms much, but he knows a bit, like Elif’s Cherry Garden, where Pokemon do help.

But those Pokemon are merely the wild ones kindly taken in by Elif, not hired officially en masse to care for the trees and fields like in Kitakami.

”Maybe I can suggest to Mayor Thomas to share this method with everyone later,” Naoki thought while replying: ”Yes.”

”On my ranch, Dragonite uses Rain Dance to help water the fields, Dugtrio helps plow the land, Gogoat uses Grass Energy to help cultivate crops, and the Psyduck do help me pick the fruits.”

”Exactly, that’s it!” the village chief nodded repeatedly: ”Pokemon truly are magical creatures! It’s so good to have them around! Human life greatly improves thanks to them!”
