Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 557: Chapter 316: Dragonite and the Incarnation of the Ocean

In this unfamiliar sea, unfamiliar Pokémon thrive.

The Clamperl, shaped like a pearl, its body encased in a hard shell,

the slender Gorebyss, with fine pink scales covering its body, swimming in the water like cherry blossoms drifting down from treetops,

and the heart-shaped Luvdisc...

Dragonite grew up in the water from a young age and is very familiar with the ocean.

It quickly shuttles through the blue sea, its gaze sweeping over the unfamiliar fish-type Pokémon.

Simultaneously, it evaluates these fish-type Pokémon:

This one won’t do, this one is too small, this one looks too fierce, this one won’t work either...

Having roamed around, Dragonite finds none larger than that tuna.

Its heart is very reluctant, should it give up just like that?

No, absolutely not!

Thinking of Naoki stroking the Dragonite’s heads, Dragonite is instantly engulfed in blazing determination.

It twists its body and finds an older Huntail in the ruins of a sunken ship on the seafloor, asking if there are any large fish nearby.

”Awoo?”

Hearing the sound, the elderly Huntail, residing in the old cabin, peeks its head out of a porthole.

Its eyesight is excellent, thus even in this relatively dark sea, it can clearly see the stranger Pokémon.

Huntail has lived here for over sixty years and has never seen such a Pokémon before.

”Goo?” (What did you say?)

Dragonite repeats, ”Awoo!”

”Goo...” Huntail, hearing it clearly this time, yeah, a big fish? It’s heard of some.

Thus, it answers, ”Goo goo.” (I’ve seen a very large Sharpedo nearby before, don’t know if it’s the Pokémon you’re looking for.)

Sharpedo? Dragonite has never heard of this name before and its eyes light up with curiosity, quickly asking, ”Awoo?” (How big is it?)

Huntail stretches its neck, moving closer to inspect Dragonite carefully before responding, ”Goo!” (About as big as you!)

Dragonite glances at its own chest, and the joy that had just risen in its heart instantly dissipates.

What? It’s still not bigger!

No, what it is searching for is an even larger fish!

At this point, Huntail doesn’t know what to say.

Its old fish face reveals a troubled look, ”Goo.” (If that’s the case, then I don’t know.)

”Awoo...” Dragonite is very disappointed, turning around to leave, planning to explore other places.

Just as it’s about to ascend, however, Huntail suddenly seems to remember something and calls out to it.

”Goo!” (Oh right! I remembered!)

Dragonite immediately stops, turning around to look.

Appearing ancient, Huntail begins telling Dragonite a story:

”Goo, goo goo.” (When I was young, I heard other Pokémon living here say that in an underwater cavern so dark you couldn’t see your hand, there resides a very powerful fish-type Pokémon.)

”Goo.” (Once, a young Luvdisc wandered into its resting place due to losing its way, and upon seeing this Pokémon, the poor Luvdisc was scared stiff.)

”Goo.” (It said it’s the biggest fish-type Pokémon it ever saw.)

”Awoo?!”

Upon hearing this, Dragonite’s eyes light up once more.

Really?

Huntail nods, telling Dragonite, ”Goo.” (Legend has it that place is in the underwater canyon ahead, but it’s too terrifying there. Normally, no Pokémon goes down there; it’s said those who do are eaten by Dark Pokémon.)

Dragonite can’t hear the rest, as it’s already heading straight toward that direction.

Huntail watches its receding figure, eyes wide in thought: what a daring Pokémon!

Dragonite pays no mind, and swims ten kilometers ahead in one go, quickly arriving at the canyon the old Huntail mentioned.

Looking down at the bottomless abyss, Dragonite dives in.

It keeps swimming, until even the last thread of light is consumed by darkness.

With the resolve ”to catch the biggest fish for Naoki,” it fearlessly plunges into the darkness.

It gathers the Electric Type energy in its body, using Spark to light up the surrounding environment.

Soon, Dragonite arrives at the end of this trench, yet still hasn’t seen the huge Pokémon Huntail mentioned.

Dragonite is puzzled.

It stops, turning its head to look around.

Then suddenly, not far in the canyon, it sees a huge opening.

Seeing this scene, Dragonite’s eyes instantly light up.

That must be the home of the big fish-type Pokémon!

Thus, it charges straight in, advancing through the cave, and after traversing the interconnected tunnels, faint rays of light suddenly appear above.

Dragonite swims toward that spot.

The next second, it surfaces, arriving at a vast underwater cavern.

Dragonite looks around, and when it sees the surroundings clearly, the entire dragon is momentarily stunned.

Inside the cavern, there’s a blue lake.

Beams of light, originating from unknown sources, shine through the top of the cavern, reflecting the shimmering blue lake, dreamlike and illusory.
