Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Before Lili could finish speaking, the Assistant’s eyes suddenly rolled back into his head. He collapsed to the ground and began foaming at the mouth.

When they saw the Assistant fall, poisoned right after eating the Komodo dragon skewer, everyone rushed over. They desperately tried to perform first aid, pinching the pressure point under his nose and calling his name. ”Assistant, wake up! What’s happened to you? Could you really have been poisoned?”

Zhao Rong took a closer look and noticed the Assistant’s pupils were dilated. He said worriedly, ”This is bad. The Assistant has definitely been poisoned, and it’s severe. Otherwise, his pupils wouldn’t be dilated like this.”

Lili touched the Assistant’s icy hands and feet. Feeling how cold he was, she feared he wasn’t going to make it. ”It’s all my fault,” she said nervously. ”I really shouldn’t have played this prank, joking about barbecuing a Komodo dragon... But I never expected the Assistant, of all people, to have such an adventurous appetite that he would actually eat it! Now he’s been poisoned, his hands and feet are freezing... he might actually die...”

Xuelianmei checked the Assistant’s pulse at his neck. ”Oh my god,” she said in alarm. ”No, it can’t be... his heart has stopped beating!”

Based on what the three women said and his own observations, Zhao Rong made a decision. ”It seems the Assistant was indeed poisoned by the Komodo dragon,” he announced. ”I have to refine an elixir to save his life. Otherwise, he’s done for.”

Hearing that Zhao Rong was going to perform alchemy, Lili immediately asked, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what kind of elixir are you going to make to save the Assistant?”

”What else?” Zhao Rong replied. ”It has to be a Resurrection Pill.”

As he spoke, Zhao Rong took out Immortal Water, Spirit Grass, Tianshan Snow Lotus, and Tianchi Chrysanthemums from his Magic Ring and began refining the elixir right then and there.

As Zhao Rong started the process, an anxious Yu Lan urged, ”Brother Zhao Rong, you have to hurry! A person becomes brain-dead after five minutes without oxygen! You have to succeed within five minutes and get him breathing again. Otherwise, even if you save him, he’ll be in a vegetative state!”

Xuelianmei massaged Zhao Rong’s shoulders to help. ”I’ll help you relax, Brother Zhao Rong. Please refine the elixir quickly and save the Assistant. Our team can’t afford to lose another man...”

Zhao Rong worked at an incredible speed. Before the three women could even finish speaking, he had successfully refined the Resurrection Pill.

He took a single black pill from the pressure cooker, walked over to the Assistant, and pried his mouth open to place it inside. He then had Lili bring a bottle of mineral water and poured it down the Assistant’s throat.

After taking the pill, the Assistant let out a loud burp, followed by a spray of water. He then shot upright and began to vomit violently.

Once he had vomited everything out of his stomach—to the point of spewing gastric juices and bile—the poison in his body was finally neutralized.

Lili stepped forward, wiped his mouth with a tissue, and said with excitement and relief, ”Assistant, you’re alive! I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault you ate that Komodo dragon meat and almost died...”

Yu Lan pulled a bag of spicy strips from her pocket and handed them to him. ”Assistant, thank goodness you’re alive,” she said, trying to comfort him. ”If you had died, we honestly wouldn’t have known whether to bury you or cremate you.”

Xuelianmei handed him a bottle of cola she had just bought. ”Assistant,” she said, ”I know your two greatest loves are spicy strips and cola. So, Yu Lan got you the strips, and I got you the cola. Think of it as a celebration of your revival.”

The Assistant’s eyes were glazed over. He held the spicy strips in his left hand and the cola in his right, completely oblivious to what had just occurred. ”What just happened?” he asked. ”I feel like I shivered, closed my eyes, and when I opened them again... it was like I’d been resurrected. It’s an incredible feeling...”

Lili explained remorsefully, ”Assistant, I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault. I was barbecuing those two Komodo dragons and joking around, asking who wanted to try. I was just trying to pull a prank. I never thought you, you big knucklehead, would actually come over, take a skewer, and eat it! Then you got poisoned... You collapsed and almost died.”

Yu Lan added from the side, ”Luckily, Brother Zhao Rong acted in time. He refined an elixir called the Resurrection Pill and gave it to you, which is what saved you. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable...”

Xuelianmei chimed in, still shaken by the event. ”We’re so lucky to have someone like Brother Zhao Rong as the backbone of our team. Not only can he fight and level up, but he can even perform alchemy! Assistant, you should count your lucky stars.”

The Assistant sighed and turned to Zhao Rong gratefully. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I really have to thank you. If it weren’t for you, I’d be walking the road to the Yellow Springs right now.”

Afterward, he turned to the women. ”Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelianmei... you didn’t refine an elixir for me, but you comforted and helped me. Now that I’m alive again, I’ll be sure to thank the three of you properly in the future.”

Listening to him, Lili decided to cheer him up. She took out her phone, downloaded a film, and said, ”Assistant, I know a leopard can’t change its spots. The best way to make you happy is to let you watch an Island Country film you’ve never seen before.

”I just downloaded one. Turn on your Bluetooth; I’ll turn on mine and send it over. That should cheer you up, right?”

When the Assistant heard Lili was going to send him an Island Country film, he shot to his feet, his eyes gleaming. ”Lili! I never imagined girls kept films like that on your phones too! Now I’m really curious. What kind of films do you girls like? How are they different from the ones guys watch? Hurry, send it over! I have to study it carefully and satisfy my curiosity!”
