Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1913: Chapter 1816: Playing Blind

Semiya couldn’t help but complain, and Clayflo glanced at his sister, speaking in a low voice:

”Uncle Levi naturally has his own plans. Don’t be so impatient, keep calm.”

On the other side, Su Qingqing, upon seeing that Alden had also folded, instantly became happy again, grabbing Yue Shuwen’s arm with a look of triumph on her face.

Even that old Gambling King folded. It seems that not only our Ningning is not good at playing, but that Alden doesn’t seem to be much better either.

Unlike the surrounding onlookers, Alden was already on high alert.

He thought for a moment about the previous rounds. This Huaxia woman named Huo hadn’t looked at her hole cards at all. She folded the first round directly, and although she called the second, she still didn’t look at the hole cards.

Alden felt a jolt of surprise, secretly wondering if this woman was planning to play without looking at the hole cards.

How could that be possible? Not looking at the hole cards—was it possible that this woman, like him, could count cards, and that from the very first hand she had memorized the position of every card in the Croupier’s hand?

Alden’s scalp tingled. On one hand, he couldn’t believe there was anyone better than him at card counting in poker; on the other hand, he couldn’t help but suspect this possibility.

Thinking of this, Alden focused his gaze on the woman across from him.

As the second round ended and Windsor Caesar began shuffling, if the woman could indeed count cards, she would definitely be closely watching the Croupier’s actions.

But to Alden’s surprise, just when he thought Huo Sining would turn to watch Windsor Caesar shuffle, the woman suddenly looked up, gave him a slight smile, a hint of regret flashing in her eyes, and said:

”Mr. Alden, if you had kept betting in that last hand, I wouldn’t have followed. Actually, my cards were small. If you hadn’t folded, I would have.”

Alden was taken aback, his expression showing a trace of peculiarity and curiosity.

The look was not just caused by Huo Sining’s words of regret and frustration at being outdone by an opponent, but more so by Huo Sining’s apparent indifference to the Croupier’s shuffling.

This led Alden to question whether he was mistaken and if this woman knew nothing about card counting, and her behavior of not looking at the hole cards was just coincidental?

With this thought, the tension in Alden’s mind began to relax.

It made sense—he must have been wrong. Card counting was something he figured out himself; how could anyone else possibly master such a skill? And this woman in front of him was merely in her twenties. How could she have mastered such a difficult gambling technique at such a young age? Even he didn’t master it until he was in his thirties, let alone a woman.

It wasn’t that Alden underestimated women, but women generally were weaker than men in gambling. At least so far, he hadn’t encountered any women who could surpass men in this area. They lacked the boldness and courage, never mind other aspects.

Even though this woman had already ascended to the top of the WGC, in Alden’s eyes, this newly crowned Gambling King was still just a woman.

As long as this woman couldn’t count cards, it was manageable. The hint of vigilance Alden had for Huo Sining quietly returned to his heart. He silently evaluated her and concluded: not worth fearing.

Alden’s expression relaxed significantly, and Windsor Caesar had finished shuffling. The two of them each threw in a million in chips, and the Croupier dealt the face cards and hole cards.

Huo Sining’s face card was the King of Diamonds, and coincidentally, Alden’s face card was the King of Spades.

Both sides had Kings, but Alden’s Spade was slightly larger than Huo Sining’s Diamond, so Alden had the first move.

Looking at Huo Sining, Alden saw she still hadn’t looked at her hole cards. However, this time, he saw through her routine. He no longer believed she would maintain composure without glancing; thus, he focused on his cards instead.

Alden’s hole card was the Ten of Spades, meaning he had the potential to make a straight flush, so folding wasn’t an option.

Without hesitation, Alden tossed four chips in front of him.

Yes, four chips, equating to four million.

Earlier, he had been polite to maintain gentlemanly manners and provide a sweet moment for the woman in front of him—now was the time for the main course. He wouldn’t hold back, needing to show some Gambling King spirit so that this young woman would understand the rumors weren’t just empty talk.

A four-million bet at the start of the hand was daunting. Considering there were still three cards to go, if each were accompanied by a four-million bet, each hand would amount to nearly twenty million. At this rate, the ninety-million chips would be gone in just four or five hands, much faster even than last night’s dice game.

The crowd was secretly alarmed, wondering if Huo Sining would follow.

”I’m a K as well; our cards are equivalent. Why wouldn’t I follow?”

Huo Sining smiled and tossed four chips into the center of the table.

Windsor Caesar dealt again, and upon seeing his new hole card, Alden was delighted.

It was a Queen of Spades, adding to his Spades Ten, Queen, and King. If he drew a Spades Jack, Nine, or Ace, he could make a straight flush. Even if not, forming a flush or a straight were strong hands.

Feeling more secure, Alden drew four more chips and said, ”I’ll bet another four million.”

Seeing Alden’s confident move, everyone realized that Alden likely held good hole cards, and their eyes turned to Huo Sining.

Alden’s gaze also fell on Huo Sining, musing to himself: I’ve followed twice already; I refuse to believe she won’t look at her cards.

Alden had already decided Huo Sining was bluffing, so he watched her coldly, ready to capture any expression when she looked at her hole cards, to discern what kind of hole cards she actually had.
