Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1911: Chapter 1814: Sabotage

As she noticed Alden staring intently at Windsor Caesar’s hand movements—no, he was staring at the playing cards in Caesar’s hands.

Huo Sining’s heart skipped a beat, and she suddenly guessed a possibility.

This Alden was actually counting cards?!

After seeing that look in Alden’s eyes, Huo Sining shivered all over.

Many movies involve casino scenes where gambling experts showcase incredible skills—not only cheating but also counting cards.

Card counting, in essence, is a simple principle.

A new deck of cards has a fixed position for each card, and by forcibly memorizing every action of the croupier during shuffling, one can mentally simulate and quickly calculate to remember the position of each card after the shuffle.

However, Huo Sining always felt that, while the principle is simple, it’s extremely difficult in practice.

Because the croupier moves so quickly, no one can truly memorize each of the croupier’s actions in an instant, making card counting seem like an impossible task.

But looking at Alden, Huo Sining felt a chill in her heart, and her steadfast belief began to waver.

She recalled online reviews about Alden, describing him as flawless from every angle.

If Alden truly possessed this remarkable card counting skill, then today’s gamble could be quite precarious for Huo Sining.

Huo Sining didn’t rely on card counting; instead, she used the Heavenly Eye to see through the croupier’s hole card, then manipulated the game to alter her and her opponent’s hands;

But if Alden could also know the croupier’s hole card through card counting, Huo Sining’s attempt to manipulate the game could be thwarted by Alden, making her feel a bit troubled, her gaze turning instantly focused.

It seemed she had underestimated this opponent a bit before coming.

If that’s truly the case, then the Heavenly Eye she relies on might not be so effective after all.

With this thought, Huo Sining’s heart sank, and her mind raced to devise a countermeasure. Suddenly, she had a flash of inspiration, and she smiled as she looked up at Alden across from her, leaning forward to ask in English:

”Mr. Alden, I heard that you taught Miss Semya her gambling skills. May I ask if you’re also skilled at the art of Ting Shai?”

Alden, caught off guard by Huo Sining’s sudden question, instinctively looked up at her, hesitated for a moment, and then politely replied, ”Ah, yes.”

Catching a glimpse from the corner of her eye, Huo Sining noticed Windsor Caesar’s hands pause as he quickly merged two decks of cards into one and placed them on the table.

Seeing this action from Windsor Caesar, Huo Sining’s lips curled up slightly in satisfaction, and she instinctively lowered her head to hide the triumphant smile in her eyes.

When Alden came back to his senses, he saw that Windsor Caesar had finished shuffling. Just when Huo Sining asked her question, he had interrupted his card counting to answer her, missing several of Windsor Caesar’s shuffling moves.

Alden immediately frowned, a hint of annoyance in his eyes. While others might not realize, he knew very well that missing those last few moves from Windsor Caesar rendered his previously memorized actions useless.

The card order had been disrupted; no matter how skilled his mind, it couldn’t operate like a computer to rapidly calculate in just a few minutes. Missing just one move meant he couldn’t remember those cards.

At this point, Alden thoroughly resented Huo Sining across from him. He wasn’t foolish; he knew this woman had done it deliberately. He just hadn’t expected to be caught off guard by a mere reflex.

Not just Alden, but even Semiya and Clayflo, standing beside him, were left dumbfounded.

They hadn’t missed Huo Sining’s sudden question at the table, and seeing Alden so easily outsmarted by Huo Sining left Clayflo and Semiya utterly stunned.

Especially Clayflo, who held great trust in Alden, knowing very well the depth of Alden’s expertise in poker.

Since taking over the Las Vegas Gambling City, he had encountered countless gambling masters, but Alden was the only one capable of memorizing the exact position of every card during the croupier’s shuffle.

On this Earth, some people can remember the positions of three or five cards through long-term training, which is not unusual, but someone like Alden, who could memorize the whole deck, was extremely rare. Clayflo had only ever seen one such person.

Being able to remember the entire deck could effortlessly reveal the opponent’s cards and allow for control over the entire game through folding or raising, maximizing his winning chances and discreetly defeating his opponent.

This was why Clayflo, upon seeing Huo Sining, so confidently invited her to gamble, believing that, with Alden’s capability, dealing with a woman would be exceedingly easy.

However, Clayflo could never have imagined that, as Alden prepared to focus entirely on card counting, Huo Sining would do something like this and directly interrupt Alden’s thoughts, disrupting and ruining his card counting plan.

This was not something a normal person would do, yet Huo Sining did it with apparent justification.

When the croupier shuffles, most people are nervously watching the croupier’s hands. No one would act like Huo Sining, but there’s no denying that her move was very effective and didn’t violate any casino rules.

Even Clayflo had to admit that this woman from Huaxia was very clever and resourceful, coming up with such a crafty move in such a tense situation, directly disrupting his and Alden’s plans, befitting the new Gambling King of the WGC.

Meanwhile, Semiya was furious, her face red with anger, as she seemed about to say something, only to be stopped by Clayflo.

In the casino, opponents at the betting table could verbally provoke each other to disrupt concentration as long as the words weren’t overly excessive, and the croupier didn’t show a yellow card warning. However, once the game started, spectators couldn’t speak, or else the participant associated with them would be accused of cheating.

Therefore, Clayflo stopped Semiya from interfering. Though Alden hadn’t remembered the cards, they absolutely couldn’t be penalized in such a manner, as it would be too humiliating.
