Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 94: Chapter 91: Subjugation

When Su Huan’s three shots pierced through a 50-centimeter-thick wall, the outcome was actually already decided.

Although the sniper rifle became unusable for a short time due to an overheated barrel.

But He Jie and his team didn’t know that.

The other side lost their sniper, while we still had two snipers, basically shooting anyone who showed their head.

To completely avoid Su Huan’s electromagnetic sniper rifle, they would have to hide deep in a building, but once they did, any ambush would be futile, and the others could just drive away.

So they could only keep repositioning and grit their teeth fighting Lu Xiao below.

In the end, the group led by Liang Kuan also caught up upon hearing the gunshots, using rocket launchers and anti-aircraft guns to give Captain He and his struggling crew a hard time.

By the time Su Huan arrived, he saw Lu Xiao lying miserably in the passenger seat of a fire truck, with his thigh and arm bleeding profusely, making it impossible to tell how many times he’d been shot.

This was even with a bulletproof vest; otherwise, judging by the bullet distribution, he would have been cut in half.

A woman was sitting in the driver’s seat, pressing on his wound, her face smeared with blood, portraying a sort of wild and tragic beauty.

It was the woman known as the ”Sundew Flower.”

”If you were any later, you’d be collecting my corpse,” Lu Xiao said, gasping for air.

Su Huan glanced at the bullet holes on the car window and then at the woman in the driver’s seat, chuckling lightly, ”Metallic gunpowder, a fiery beauty, I came early and ruined your heroic allure.”

”Bullshit!”

”Relax, I’ve brought a professional surgeon with thirty years of experience. Even if your guts get shot out today, I can guarantee your life, given how much debt you owe.”

He gestured, and Doctor Lin Xia hurried over with a medical kit.

Lu Xiao lifted his eyelids and wanted to curse upon seeing Lin Xia’s young face, but lacked the strength due to his pain.

Lin Xia was stunned at the scene inside the car; his teacher never taught him how to extract bullets.

He hesitated, looking to Su Huan.

Su Huan gave him a reassuring look and whispered, ”Don’t worry, it’s nowhere near the heart; their defender’s physique is good. Just get the bullets out first.”

”I’ll give it a try...”

Although they lowered their voices, in such a small space, it was almost like speaking right into each other’s ears.

Lu Xiao even suspected this heartless guy was saying it for him to hear.

Just after dealing with Lu Xiao’s situation, Lao Er ran over. All of He Jie’s men had been killed, and he was out of ammo, trapped inside the building.

Lao San specifically sent him over to ask how to handle it.

Su Huan didn’t rush over but carefully verified the bodies of those who had been killed.

To his surprise, his single shot through the wall had actually hit someone.

And it went through two people, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

The rest were taken out by rockets and anti-aircraft gunfire.

As for ordinary bullets, they hardly caused any effective damage.

It seemed that relying on conventional warfare to eliminate the Steel Council’s troops was impossible. After all, they were trained Evolvers. Without using his informational advantage and careful planning, he couldn’t achieve such results.

Upon entering, Su Huan finally understood why Captain He didn’t dare move.

This was an office space, with some zombies that had been long cleared off the workstations. Judging by their clean suits, they probably died in the company.

He Jie was hiding inside the boss’s office.

Liang Kuan the Third was outside with a group of people, armed with rocket launchers and various light and heavy machine guns.

This setup made Su Huan feel like the thin wall was trembling.

If everyone weren’t waiting for him to decide, He Jie would have been engulfed in gunfire by now.

Su Huan checked his watch, ”Good afternoon, Captain He. I’m hosting, care to join me for dinner tonight?”

A hoarse voice came from the office, ”Who are you?”

”Train Commander Su Huan of the Armed Train.”

In the dark, windowless room, He Jie sat behind the boss’s solid wood desk, bandaging a wound on his arm. Upon hearing this, he frowned.

’Armed Train... never heard of that force, could it be far superior to our company level?’

’That would explain this defeat. As for those ordinary people, they were probably just a facade to hide their identities...’

With just a title, He Jie had conjured up a logically coherent background for Su Huan.

Clenching the gauze with his teeth to tie the knot, He Jie took a deep breath, ”You’ve crossed the line, haven’t you? The Acid Rain Zone is our Qinggang territory.”

Outside, Su Huan’s eyes suddenly turned sharp.

’Acid Rain Zone!’

No one else knew this term; survivors initially referred to this area as Qingchuan Province.

This further confirmed his previous suspicions.

Only those big forces who anticipated the apocalypse in advance would re-map regions with various disasters from a macro perspective!

”How about I give you a condition, Captain He, see if you can accept it. If you can, let’s sit down for dinner tonight; if not, I’ll send you on your way now. Take a couple of quick steps, and maybe you can catch up with the brothers ahead.”

”... What condition?”

”Betray the Steel Council, join me.”

”Huh?”

This time, He Jie was genuinely stunned.

Could the core team members of a big force actually be absorbed?

”Are you joking with me...”

Su Huan didn’t waste words and directly pulled out the trump card, ”As far as I know, Captain He not only has a son and a daughter, but also a gentle and virtuous wife who is an art teacher, right?”

Silence fell inside the office.

Su Huan continued, ”This mission has already failed, and at least fifteen people have been lost, perhaps more. Do you think the congressmen behind you will still protect a dead man like you? They may not even be able to protect themselves...”

”Do you think a beautiful and gentle woman can raise two children in this brutal apocalypse?”

”I’m afraid once news of your death gets back, there will be countless gentlemen in suits knocking on your home’s door that very night, saying to your helpless widow: Madam, you wouldn’t want—”

”Boom!”

Inside, something slammed hard against the door.

Captain He’s angry curses came out, ”Damn you—shut your damned crow mouth!”

Midway through his scolding, Captain He recalled this might be his only retreat, forcing himself to swallow the nastiest words and replacing them with something milder.

Su Huan smiled. Once the other party got mad, it meant things were about to work out.

He Jie wasn’t a loyalist to the company; his past life saw him serving the Steel Council just to provide a better life for his wife and daughter.

So, he used information from his past life to test him.

Sure enough, compared to the company and those fallen temporary comrades, Captain He cared more about his wife.

With faint zombie groans outside, Su Huan urged.

”Come out then, if we delay any longer, we might have a little trouble.”
