Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 64: Chapter 63: Establishing Train Tiers

”Sure, we can collect more regular Pan-energy Crystals later on,” Su Huan said.

Wan Xing nodded.

The apocalypse inevitably comes with the collapse of the economy; the original currency becomes worthless paper, while things like Pan-energy Crystals, which can promote evolution, are more suitable as a general equivalent than food.

This also relates to some of Su Huan’s plans for managing the passengers in the rear carriages.

Initially, when there were fewer people, he could only manage loosely.

That meant just checking tickets and not managing the passengers at the back.

Whether they engaged in mutual slaughter or cooperated in collecting resources, Su Huan watched coldly from the sidelines. As long as they could get him the resources he needed, whether they kept extra for themselves or gave it to others, he didn’t care.

Moreover, back then, it was just him and Liang Kuan at the front of the train, and a lot of energy was spent every day guarding against those passengers who wanted to replace him.

After about ten days of this, Su Huan had been imposing his authority on the train.

But this stability was only temporary.

Whether it’s expelling everyone without distinction or having no promotion mechanism, both will lead passengers to lose hope.

In the short term, due to external pressures, they might choose to stay on the train.

And it won’t take long—after just three days on the train, they would start to become restless.

So he needs to use the survival resources and evolution information he has accumulated to quickly establish a new order.

To show the passengers in the rear carriages more benefits and hope for advancement.

The final report was summarized by Liang Kuan.

After two days of continuous high-intensity travel, the armed train encountered three traffic jams caused by accidents, one broken rail, one twisted rail, two small-scale zombie tides, and one nocturnal Evolution Beast attack. However, thanks to Xiaoba’s Level 2 metal control, no problems arose.

With the current defensive strength of the armed train, unless they encounter a large-scale rail break, Tier One Zombies and Evolution Beasts leading the corpse tide pose no threat to them.

Having dodged the first wave of the high-temperature disaster, now is Su Huan’s period of opportunity.

He needs to quickly acquire more resources and power during this stage.

Su Huan tapped his fingers rhythmically, each of his five fingers touching the tabletop in sequence, making a light ”tap-tap” sound as everyone awaited his new decision.

”Can we use a wired connection to create a comprehensive monitoring system for the entire train? Like last time when the cockpit view was obstructed, we could still use electronic devices to observe the outside situation?”

Instinctively, the few of them turned their gaze to Yu Jing.

The belief is that someone who studies psychology can tell fortunes, and someone who can pull teeth can also perform surgery since a dentist is a doctor too.

Since Yu Jing has been designing all the big and small transformations and repairs on the train, she should also be able to handle the modification and installation of electronic circuits.

No kidding, that’s truly what people simply think.

Yu Jing’s mouth twitched; is this man treating her like a magical cat?

”For a comprehensive monitoring system, I can only attempt something simple, at most just connect the devices. If it involves anything complex, I’m not well-versed in it. After all, my specialty and interests don’t lie in that area.”

”Oh.”

Su Huan nodded thoughtfully.

He didn’t come up with any nonsense like ”learn it in your spare time.”

The coming ten to twenty years will be a period of educational void; he can only find a way to make use of the existing talents and technologies.

First, push the combat strength to the extreme, reclaim the world’s dominance, and then gradually restore these things.

Su Huan’s gaze fell on Huang Sea, who waved his hands repeatedly.

With a troubled expression, he said, ”Captain, I’m really not familiar with this.”

Su Huan squinted his eyes slightly, ”I didn’t ask you to do this; aren’t you a teacher of agricultural science?”

”Yes, yes.”

”Today, I’ll have people go out to find some seeds. I’ll give you compartments 7, 8, and 9 to plant them for me.”

Huang Sea was invigorated; he finally had something to do, at least for now, he didn’t have to worry about being kicked off the train.

He quickly responded, ”I promise to do it to your satisfaction.”

Su Huan looked at the young man behind him, ”What’s your name? What can you do?”

The young man was a bit shy, ”Wang Li, also a student of the Agricultural College, just started college, working in a convenience store.”

”That’s perfect; from now on, you’ll be Old Huang’s assistant,” Su Huan said.

’Old Huang?’

Wan Xingxia subtly lifted her eyelids and discovered that Liang Kuan across the way also glanced at Huang Sea. Though there was no expression on his face, he understood as well.

He was also surprised by Su Huan’s way of addressing him.

For a newcomer who just got on the train, this kind of address was a bit too familiar.

”Yu Jing, later you’ll have to help them modify the rear carriages,” Su Huan added.

”Okay.”

Yu Jing, who was busy writing and drawing, rested her chin on her hand, responding softly.

Su Huan got up and glanced at the time on his watch; it was already 12:58, ”Then let’s act quickly.”

As the others dispersed, Su Huan moved towards the rear carriages.

The three brothers followed behind him like bodyguards; along the way, Lao San tried several times to light a cigarette but would retract his hand, hang the cigarette on his ear, and said unintentionally, ”Chief, our brothers have decided to follow you from now on.”

Su Huan found it somewhat amusing; this was them asking for a task.

”Just keep an eye on the folks at the back for now, take turns standing guard at night. If things get hairy, don’t be stingy with the bullets; empty the magazines for me!”

Hearing this, Lao San turned happy-hearted; he understood that if you wanted a higher status on the train, you had to take on important tasks.

Since Old Huang, who boarded the train with him, was now shouldering responsibilities, it wasn’t impossible that he’d have a seat next time.

He, Lao San, had been somewhat brotherly with the captain, so how could he be okay with standing through meetings?

The few guns on the train were all given to him by Su Huan, indicating he was going to be relied upon.

So that’s why he asked.

”Leave it to me; you’ll see,”

Lao San twitched his nose, lit a cigarette, took a deep puff, and said with a rough voice.

He gave his brothers a look, Lao Da and Lao Er went up to open the carriage door, then stood guard at both sides of the carriage bridge with their guns.

Su Huan didn’t say a word, standing there waiting.

Soon, passengers began to gather.

”The train captain is here!”

Shortly, a sturdy figure with a buzz-cut and work pants squeezed out of the crowd.

Lu Xiao glanced at the guns in the hands of the three brothers, his eyes flickering, and looked at Su Huan with a smile, ”I thought you’d forgotten about me.”

His attitude was evidently much better than last time.

Su Huan shook his head, pulled out a list from his logbook, and handed it to him, ”I promised to give you a chance; as long as you can collect any of the plant seeds on here, you can select twenty people from the passengers to form a squad, have a separate carriage, and receive prioritized tasks and resource exchanges.”

Lu Xiao took the list, licked his somewhat cracked lips, and tentatively asked, ”What resources can we exchange for? Weapons?”

”Your next step of evolution.”

Lu Xiao’s eyes were somewhat complex, ”Such important information, you would give it to me?”

Su Huan’s calm eyes gleamed as if arcs of electricity flashed, ”The choice is yours.”
