Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 61: Chapter 60: The Interception Plan

This means that Su Huan still has 24 days to prepare.

After that, he will face the Steel Council.

According to what he learned in his previous life, the Steel Council initially had three core convoys, each with about a hundred people. But this was different from the ragtag Mojiang Mutual Aid Convoy.

It was composed of evolvers and regular troops forming a high-mobility armed force.

Even the most basic C-level tactical squad had clearly defined roles, including scouts, medics, demolition experts, snipers, and assault troops.

A hundred-member convoy could easily sweep through a rabble like the Mojiang Mutual Aid Convoy.

By the time the ”New Town Plan” was halfway through, the Steel Council had absorbed hundreds of thousands of survivors, but their armed forces expanded very cautiously.

By the time he defected, it was still only about ten thousand strong.

So initially, he only needed to consider the three hundred people.

Thanks to good control before the apocalypse, apart from the military and law enforcement agencies, civilians had no access to powerful weapons like firearms.

The first batch of equipment for the Steel Council came from an armory in Qingchuan Province.

Later, the armory was converted into a bullet factory, and Su Huan, as a ”Power Supplier,” even served there for a while.

The armory was set to open around early January, roughly in eight days.

But considering the helicopter that just flew overhead, Su Huan suspected the Armed Conference had been up to no good, perhaps acquiring a batch of weapons through other means before the apocalypse broke out.

With this information, the next plans were clear.

Su Huan needed to seize the weapons before the Steel Council and then give the armored train a massive upgrade.

On the way, rescue the critically endangered Lin Jin and bring him aboard.

He was very skilled at making others indebted to him.

Then, through peaceful or violent means, obtain apocalypse-related information from the Steel Council.

And then, amiably extort some large equipment.

Like a bullet production line.

For this exhilarating plan, Su Huan had stayed up for a whole day and night. Even though he hadn’t eaten a grain of rice, he remained full of energy.

After carefully reviewing the white paper once more, he folded it and placed it in his log.

Su Huan stood up, stretched, and walked into the bathroom.

Facing the mirror, he rubbed his palm, which turned red, across his face.

The stubble that had just appeared was instantly singed by the high temperature, filling the bathroom with the smell of burnt pig hair.

Turning on the faucet and watching the clear water flow out, he knew that Yu Jing hadn’t been slacking off these past two days.

Rinsing off the black marks on his face with clean water, he became completely clean.

For Su Huan, who had survived for four years in the apocalypse, using his abilities had become a part of his instincts, as simple as moving his arm.

Satisfied, Su Huan stepped out of the carriage, looking at the spirited young man in the mirror.

The train was now reorganized; behind the engine was Su Huan’s car number 1, dining car number 2, sightseeing car number 3, and hydrogen-powered car numbers 4 and 5 were occupied by other team members.

There was much more space compared to green carriages, and without considering gender factors, one carriage could accommodate 16 people.

Car number 6 was the food storage carriage; numbers 7, 8, and 9 he planned to use as farm carriages. Now that guy from the Huang Sea gave him an unexpected surprise, the food cycle could also be put on the agenda.

Of course, conventional crops couldn’t be grown in the apocalypse; by the time the vegetables were ripe, people would have starved to death several times over.

At that time, he’d get some apocalyptic mutant plants and let the Huang Sea plant them.

If he messed this up again, the damn guy would sleep on top of the train.

The Huang Sea, busy in the dining car, shivered, unaware that the train conductor had sworn to give him a good thrashing in his mind.

Su Huan turned and entered the engine room first.

The rumbling noise, combined with a stifling heat, made anyone who entered feel sleepy.

The young man in the wheelchair nodded silently at him.

Then he focused on the railway in front of him, a metallic glint flashed in his eyes, and the lever beside the driver’s seat was pushed.

”You know how to drive a train now?” Su Huan asked curiously.

Xiaoba nodded, ”I saw Uncle Kuan couldn’t hold on, so I asked him to teach me some basics, and now we can take turns resting.”

”Not bad.”

Liang Kuan was sitting with his arms crossed and his eyes closed, resting. Suddenly he woke up, blinking his bloodshot eyes, ”Xiaoba, how long has it been?”

”Thank you, you can rest well today.”

Upon hearing this unhurried voice, Liang Kuan realized, ”Conductor.”

Su Huan patted his shoulder, ”Where are we now?”

”We passed Fengshui City this morning, and we’re about to enter Qingchuan Province.”

”You’ve been on the road for two days and nights; it’s enough. Stop the train soon and come to the dining car with Xiaoba.”

”Understood.”

The train began to slow down gradually, and Su Huan headed to the dining car first.

A woman in a floral apron was pouring milk into a porcelain cup, and the clash of the metal spoon against the pot’s edge created a crisp ding-dong sound, mingling with the toasty aroma of the whole wheat bread from the oven.

Beside her hand was a porcelain dish stacked with sugar cubes, and every time the train turned, the topmost cube would gently sway, casting a quivering diamond-shaped shadow on the edge of the celadon tea bowl.

Even when so busy, she could still spare a hand to peel nuts, tossing each peeled one into a bowl with a ding-ding-dang, like a joyful little sparrow.

Seeing Su Huan suddenly appear, Yu Yue froze awkwardly, like a child caught stealing food, clutching a macadamia nut, unsure whether to put it down or continue.

After the last incident, she didn’t dare use her abilities to cover Su Huan’s carriage, so his appearance was quite sudden for her, too.

Looking at Su Huan’s calm face, she felt less terrified than at first.

But her heart was still a bit uneasy.

Thinking about it, there didn’t seem to be much to worry about.

She usually took some food to make side dishes, only this time, she hadn’t reported to Su Huan.

”You’re out? Want something to eat? We’ve got grilled snake meat and freshly baked bread.”

Yu Yue used speaking to mask her subtle embarrassment.

But this slight panic was already caught by Su Huan, who naturally wouldn’t let it slide. He walked forward, grabbed a peeled macadamia nut, tossed it into his mouth, and teased, ”Seems like you’ve been living well these past two busy days.”

”Crunch crunch~”

The salty, savory nuts were crushed by his teeth.

The woman’s pretty face blushed from the ears to the neck, visible shame.

”No, I found that this bag of macadamia nuts was about to expire when I was checking today...”

Su Huan swallowed the food in his mouth and tossed a sugar cube into his coffee, stirring it a bit, ”Oh, this cup of coffee is expired too, huh.”

Yu Yue didn’t dare argue back; she silently took the soft, fragrant bread out of the oven.

Having seen those who had long discarded their morals and shame, and then seeing Yu Yue, who blushed at being teased a little, his malicious intent was really hard to suppress.

Su Huan directly reached out and grabbed it, the soft bread deforming under his fingers.

Watching her meticulously crafted bread being kneaded like this, Yu Yue squeezed out a thin, panicked protest through her teeth, but seeing Su Huan’s insincere smile, she silently closed her mouth again.
