Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 72: Chapter 71: Two Thousand Tons—Are You Going to Headbutt It?

Everyone who’s ever touched a plug knows that in the moment you’re electrocuted, you can’t scream.

Every muscle in your body feels as if it’s being brutally attacked all at once.

Twitching, contracting...

And that’s exactly how this big gray wolf feels.

Suddenly illuminated in the night, its fur stands on end, exuding a burnt aroma, its once cruel and merciless beastly eyes now somewhat clear.

Su Huan curled his lip; the current was deadly enough to kill, yet it only paralyzed this big gray wolf for a moment.

Lao San harshly elbowed his two brothers beside him, ”Practice shooting, what are you standing there for?”

”Da da da...”

Boss, realizing belatedly, shot out a clip of 25 bullets.

Flashes of fire, a string of blood beads shoot from under the oil-slick fur.

But the shot hit the shoulder, not a fatal strike.

Lao San was so angry that he jumped, ”Three-round burst, three-round burst! Such a good target, and you’re wasting bullets with your shitty marksmanship!”

The howl of the Fearsome Wolf drowned out Lao San’s voice, the rest of the wolf pack attacked the armored train more fiercely, the sounds of crashing and scratching were incessant.

Yet the train did not move an inch.

You’re kidding, a standard steel plate 1.25m x 2.5m weighs nearly three hundred kilograms, not to mention the self-weight of the armored train, and the steel plates on the front and rear add up to over two thousand tons!

Even a few Tier One Fearsome Wolves with an incomplete evolved wolf pack can’t get in even if they smash their heads against it.

This is why Su Huan firmly chose a train over an RV or truck.

Against these beasts advancing in physical evolution with terrifying speed.

Weight is the greatest advantage of the armored train.

Even though the steel plate on the green coach behind is thin, it isn’t something the Fearsome Wolves can easily tear through.

Even Night Demon can only pierce here and there, creating holes all over the coach, entering finally through windows without explosion-proof nets.

But now the whole train has windows covered with explosion-proof nets, leaving them no room to slip through.

They can only be outside taking bullets.

With the rhythmic burst firing, the Fearsome Wolves outside let out harrowing cries, responding one after another.

Su Huan raised the Night Owl-X7 Sniper Rifle in hand, habitually removing the magazine to check the ammunition capacity.

Seeing the magazine filled with 7.62mm bullets, he licked his lips.

Skilfully reloaded the magazine, pulled the bolt.

This is the advantage of being attached to a major power; though Su Huan didn’t have extra money to buy guns in his past life, following the team around, he at least got familiar with common models everywhere to not fumble for the bolt.

Hearing the click of a bullet entering the chamber, every cell in his body became active at that moment.

’Perhaps I should advance to a profession related to hot weapons...’

Su Huan couldn’t help but think, aiming the muzzle at a Fearsome Wolf hiding in the back.

”Remember to help mute the sound for me.” He lightly reminded Yu Yue beside him.

The next moment, he pulled the trigger.

The bullet silently shed its casing and flew out.

That Tier One yet-to-evolve Fearsome Wolf’s eyeball exploded instantly, collapsing to the ground.

The Wolf King just now realized its tribe had decreased again, yet it was still helpless against the iron tin can in front of it.

After consecutively taking down three ordinary Fearsome Wolves, Su Huan put down his gun and turned to Yu Yue beside him, ”How about it, got it yet?”

Yu Yue’s little face froze, shook her head slightly.

Su Huan pretended not to hear, directly handed her the sniper rifle.

No one on the entire train was more suitable for the sniper position than she was, given her ability, she didn’t even need a silencer.

”Try, perform well and there’ll be an extra meal for you tonight.”

Yu Yue clutched the big gun in her hands, awkwardly furrowing her brows, ”I...”

Before she could finish, Su Huan yanked her to the window, supporting her wrist to pick up the sniper rifle; the high temperature intensified the man’s aura, encircling her like a wall from all sides.

The hard feel was everywhere.

”Concentrate.”

Su Huan softly commanded by her ear.

...

In the distance, overturned vehicles piled on the national road, and survivors dragged out, lay scattered, bloody, those miraculously unscathed also lay groaning in pain in pools of blood.

While there was a peculiar calm amidst the tension on the train.

Although everything happened in the same place, inside the train, people felt as though they were in a different realm from the wolf pack.

Apart from the initial fear when the vehicle overturned, discovering the Fearsome Wolves were helpless against the train, it was hard to feel scared.

Watching the Fearsome Wolves outside gradually taken down by firearms, a strange thrill and sense of security even emerged inside them.

Passengers who once resented their pig-dog existence now felt a quiet sense of superiority seeing the tragically worse convoy.

Some even had the leisure to sympathize with the overturned convoy from earlier.

Murmurs started, the remaining tension vanished, some even bravely poked sticks through the explosion-proof net to hit the wolves.

”Boss, should we get off the train later?” a young man with short hair, round ears, turtle-like back, and long legs leaned toward Lu Xiao and asked.

Even as he spoke, his upper body leaned slightly forward, shoulders inward, like a beast coiled to strike.

Lu Xiao glanced at him; this was one of the two sports students recruited today, the kid was sharp, a bit like a new recruit he once trained.

”Those are the conductor’s spoils, not ours to take.”

”In the pitch dark, Su wouldn’t even know...”

Before he could finish, Lu Xiao’s hand landed on his shoulder, applying pressure, solemnly said, ”Remember to call him the conductor from now on!”

The young man looked puzzled but remembering the captain’s prowess today, stabbing a ground dragon to death with a few sticks, he nodded.

Watching the coach occasionally lit by gunfire in front, Lu Xiao’s eyes flickered with complexity.

Soldiers aren’t meant to be cowardly, but that doesn’t mean he can’t see the gap between them.

The same thought crossed Yu Jing’s mind, having put down her work due to the wolf pack attack.

Gazing at the man teaching her mother to use a gun by the window, she was dazed.

Instinctively thought of the word he always had on his lips, ”depend on fate.”

She joined the train quite early.

Initially, merely wanting to use her abilities to safeguard herself and her foolish mother on the train, planning to leave at a proper time.

But unexpectedly, they fled so far, mostly without any major incidents.

She naturally knew this wasn’t relying on fate.

But rather, Su Huan making the right decisions each time.

From seizing the train, coercing passengers to gather resources, upgrading the train methodically, to the crazy evolution on the overpass, every step as if planned.

You could call him cold-blooded psychopath, selfish, acerbic, and petty.

Yet these traits together, much like his mocking smirk, imparted a mysterious sense of security.

’Hmm, it’d be nicer if he wasn’t interested in my mom...’
