Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 60: Chapter 59: Now It’s Their Turn to Be Nervous

When Su Huan speculated on the truth of the apocalypse with the utmost malice.

Many things became explainable.

Why powerful groups like Deep Blue Data and the Mechanical God Cult were able to cultivate Tier Five Evolvers in just four years.

Various gene serums, new apocalyptic materials, and emerging technologies sprang up like mushrooms after a rain.

It’s because they had been accumulating in secret for decades.

And then waited for this moment of apocalypse!

The sudden disappearance of the military, large-scale communication breakdowns, disorganized groups, well-prepared secret forces, and the sudden appearance of twelve apocalyptic catastrophes... all these factors combined to create an apocalyptic scene where society collapsed instantly.

Otherwise, with those initial zombies that could barely walk...

”Ha!”

Su Huan let out a cold laugh.

In his previous life, being at the bottom and lacking information, he had many unanswered questions that have now suddenly become clear.

But many doubts still remain.

Such as the origins of the clearly delineated disasters, inexplicable high temperatures, acid rain, floods...

And the evolution of zombies, plants, animals, and humans.

To understand the truth behind all this, one must start with forces like the Steel Council.

”Cyan Steel Industry... Steel Council, the next plan needs to change.”

Su Huan muttered to himself as he pulled out a large sheet of white paper from beside him and spread it on the table.

...

The group of men had been arguing for more than an hour about whether the helicopter was a military rescue, and whether the organization had reestablished order.

The main argument was between the construction crew’s Wang He and his colleagues.

The woman pinched the only remaining earring on one side, sharp pain transmitted from her earlobe.

The pain stimulated her senses, clearing her heat-laden, fuzzy mind a bit, as she slowly gazed at these men who were still talking grandly despite living on the edge.

Though they were fellow passengers on the train, the woman’s status was much lower than the men’s.

Currently, only a third of the people on the train were women, with only a few acquiring resources themselves; the rest were like her, clinging like mistletoe to a large tree.

No one on this train hated Su Huan more than she did.

Their family was coaxed onto the train, and after an outing, only two were left, and Su Huan had killed the man.

Brother Dog, who had humiliated her, was also killed by Su Huan.

This left her with a feeling of absurdity when choosing another man, as if selecting a tree about to be felled, wondering when he might be killed by Su Huan.

Scar hit her, cursed her, called her cheap, and she wasn’t angry.

She even acted more fragile, more sycophantic.

As if compensating for his imminent death.

Sure enough, the next day, Scar was killed by Su Huan.

Along with an elderly man with a past and two lackeys who had viciously abused her in the compartment bridge, none of them came back.

Within days, she had instead become an old passenger on the train.

A lean, wiry man squeezed into the compartment from the front, engaging in conversation with those huddled passengers in the corners.

He sought out passengers who looked the most disheveled.

This was a quality man by apocalypse standards, his attire and appearance reflecting a resolute and decisive nature.

Especially after hearing his analysis.

He was ambitious.

Just like how the old man and Scar often discussed Gao Zhe.

Unfortunately, due to the zombie-filled compartment acting as a barrier, she never saw that man.

The woman quietly listened to his inquiries, her eyes reflecting contemplation, calling out to him as he passed by.

”If you want information about the conductor and what happened on the train, I can tell you.”

Lu Xiao stared down at the woman, noticing the bruises on her mouth, neck, and exposed skin, bearing varying degrees of cyanosis hidden beneath an ill-fitting sweatshirt, clear signs of abuse, yet her mental state was oddly healthy.

”What do you want?”

Lu Xiao asked intently.

The woman lifted her head, her wide sweatshirt slipping down, the restrained rise and fall hinting at a flowing vitality, hot wind blowing through the compartment, her eyes shining brightly.

”()”

...

”December 23rd—”

Su Huan withdrew the thermometer hanging outside the train window, glancing at the bright red scale, jotting the number down in his journal.

”34°C-38°C”

”The temperature is dropping, I’ve escaped the high-temperature zone, the trouble is theirs now.”

Su Huan’s handwriting was easy and free, especially the last few words, which were brazenly devilish, exuding a sense of rebellious villainy.

He had stayed in the room for a whole day and night, not even trying out his new abilities.

The large sheet of blank paper on the table was now covered with densely packed writing.

In his past life, he had only really dealt with two strong individuals, one being the iron will on the train, the other was the retreating great fire.

The fastest-rising Tier Five professional, ”Sun Crown Flame Lord” Lin Jin.

”My path was destined long ago, Su Huan, the next time we meet, I will pave the way for you at the end of Purgatory.”

That was the last sentence he ever said to Su Huan in his previous life.

When they met again, Su Huan was being pursued by the Steel Council, and Lin Jin, after taking down the Tier Three strongmen who were chasing him, set a great fire within the Steel Council.

He didn’t know what exactly happened then, but until the flood overtook him, he never saw any pursuers from the Steel Council.

The two first met during the ”New Town Plan” initiated by Cyan Steel Industry.

Cyan Steel Industry, under the guise of a new force, gathered survivors, cleared all the zombies in a county, and built a long-term fortress.

This fortress, established after the apocalypse, was called ”New Town.”

The original board, after a series of open and secret struggles, formed a seven-person council governing all the affairs within and the power of life and death.

Cyan Steel Industry became what Su Huan knew as the Steel Council.

The two most prominent words in the middle of the paper were ”Lin Jin” and ”New Town.”

At any cost, he must intercept this trump card, Lin Jin.

A well-functional Tier Five Evolver, with adequate logistics support, can easily determine the outcome of a war on their own.

And Tier Five Evolvers are the most obvious measure of a force’s strength. With Lin Jin, Xiaoba, and his future self, the armed train would undoubtedly be the most potential powerful force in the apocalypse.

By then, even the Pope of the Mechanical God Cult would have to respectfully call him conductor.

No one would dare to manipulate him anymore!

His palm brushed across the paper, soothing his turbulent emotions.

The train’s northerly direction remained unchanged, with the upcoming goal to acquire more information about the apocalypse from the Steel Council.

And to find the yet-to-grow ”Sun Crown Flame Lord.”

If he recalled correctly, the Steel Council began clearing the ruins on January 10th.

Their meeting was on January 16th.

The location of New Town was just outside the high-temperature zone in Qingchuan Province.
