Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 56: Chapter 55: Where to Go from Here? Fighting for the Dragon!

The others left, and Su Huan turned his gaze to Yu Yue.

He saw her ears twitch slightly as she looked up and said, ”Someone’s looking for you at the back.”

”Huh?”

Su Huan was momentarily stunned, realizing she was talking about the rear carriage.

’That doorbell is really far away...’

He stepped back and saw a lean but upright man at the passage connecting the tenth carriage. Both were similar in height, just over 1.8 meters, and separated by glass, Su Huan felt as if he were looking in a mirror.

Both had distinct features, but the other man exuded a more rugged vibe, while he seemed more aloof.

And he was younger, too.

”You only have the time for three sentences.”

Su Huan said calmly through the door.

”I am a retired navy member, a strength-type Evolver, familiar with the Mojiang terrain.”

The man said crisply without wasting words, demonstrating his value.

He placed his hand on the door handle and twisted it hard, causing the metal handle to deform.

Proving he wasn’t exaggerating.

”Click—”

Su Huan opened the door, inspecting the deformed door handle and the man’s curvaceous rear, his expression slightly softened.

He was valuable, seemingly quick-witted, someone Su Huan was willing to spend a bit of time on.

”Speak up; my time is limited.”

”Are we crossing the Mojiang Bridge next?”

”Yes.”

The man shared his speculations he had in the carriage.

Su Huan nodded in agreement, already contemplating how to utilize this talent in his mind.

His face didn’t reveal much emotion, ”And then?”

The man hesitated briefly, choosing his words carefully, ”I don’t mean to seize your train; the journey ahead is extremely dangerous. I want to help make some tactical decisions. Rest assured, I have undergone rigorous professional training in this area, absolutely dependable.”

Su Huan had a peculiar expression, the last one attempted to seize by force, and this one by circumnavigating him?

You have undergone strict professional training, but I have endured four years of brutal elimination.

”Are you also named Zhe?”

The man was momentarily stunned, ”My name is Lu Xiao, Lu as in mainland, Xiao as in cavalry.”

Su Huan nodded, ”I’ll remember you, but now is not the time for you to shine.”

Lu Xiao frowned, not understanding why Su Huan remained so stubborn despite his sincerity.

Could a lowly train conductor’s authority be more important than one’s life?

Su Huan saw his dissatisfaction and explained sincerely, ”A large-scale situation like this requires a train conductor; you can’t handle it.”

Lu Xiao took a deep breath to calm his impatience, ”I hope the train conductor will consider my suggestions. I’ll be waiting in the tenth carriage.”

Su Huan waved his hand, ”Then wait, and remember to restore the door handle for me.”

And then turned to leave.

...

If you regard the rivers of the world as the dragon veins, the cross-river bridges seem like chains shackling them, stretching across the water.

With the clattering sound, a mechanical steel dragon drove onto the elevated bridge.

The generated heat wind dispersed the cotton-like mist on the water’s surface, revealing the terrifying appearance of the whole river to everyone on board in the bright moonlight,

The turbid Mojiang’s surface churned with tens of thousands of floating corpses, their scarlet eyes, all focused on the train on the high bridge.

In the sightseeing carriage, Yu Yue nervously pinched her fingertips, ”Something’s coming...”

”Yeah, I see it.”

Su Huan’s eyes were fixated on the turbulent surface. Thirty to forty meters away, a giant wave rose, crashing onto the Mojiang Bridge, causing the armed train to quiver.

The waves descending pressed hundreds of zombies into the water.

But what truly shocked him was the giant white tail amidst the waves.

As thick as a water tank.

It was none other than the White Snake Mojiang he had briefly encountered at the water plant!

Seeing its terrifying momentum, Su Huan fell silent for a moment.

This snake possibly advanced to Tier Two.

Currently, his Pan-energy Transformation was still at Level 2, having absorbed four Tier One Pan-energy Crystals, with energy compression still at Level 1, having absorbed about five regular Pan-energy Crystals.

Still quite far from the Tier One profession ”Energy Storage Core.”

”Conductor, the oil barrel’s been brought up.” Lao San and his brothers struggled to carry an oil barrel upstairs.

”Move it to the front of the train.” Su Huan pointed outside the sightseeing carriage and then looked at Yu Yue beside him, ”Go down and bring me the heart of that Bloodhound.”

Yu Yue instinctively nodded, walked two steps, and sensed something was off.

The Bloodhound’s heart.

Isn’t that the evolutionary path of Bloody Resonance?

Her mind jumped to a conclusion, instantly illuminating her chaotic thoughts, and she turned sharply, ”You want to evolve?”

Su Huan raised an eyebrow, teasingly, ”Oh, how come Aunt Yu suddenly got clever?”

”Didn’t you say that method was dangerous?”

”Evolution is inherently a wild thing.”

”But isn’t there a safer option...”

Su Huan impatiently waved his hand, ”It’s just a contingency backup, go on.”

Yu Yue’s fingertips turned white, looking at his impatient demeanor, a twinge of sourness welled up in her heart.

Yet her thoughts involuntarily extended outward, deducing:

What if it truly reached the point where one must evolve?

If Su Huan changes...

No, isn’t she also just a passenger oppressed by him, why worry about him?

Yu Yue tapped her forehead.

Why do I feel like I’m developing Stockholm syndrome?

But thinking about it...

Although Su Huan was a bit mean at times, besides that one incident, he didn’t do anything excessive to her and her daughter.

Other passengers may call him a cold-blooded, brutal bastard, but she probably doesn’t have the standing to.

In some ways, she’s complicit.

The little cook bit her lower lip, her eyes clouded with confusion, and muddle-headedly got the Bloodhound’s heart from Wan Xing, heading to the second level.

But the scene before her made her heart lurch.

Under the harsh moonlight, thousands of silver scales surfaced, biting into zombies, turning the already murky river water into blotches of dark filth.

When all the thousands of corpses vanished, led by a white snake resembling a flood dragon, thousands of aquatic beasts charged towards the cross-river bridge.

Like legends of flood dragons cultivating, crossing waters, heading east to the sea, turning into dragons!

The river’s turbulent waves, carrying severed limbs and crashing onto the bridge pillars.

”Boom—”

Yu Yue, scared, closed her eyes, only feeling the world spinning, then falling into the water.

But unable to sense any suffocation for a while, she opened her eyes to see Su Huan’s unfriendly face.

”I thought you were scared to death.”

He righted her, took the heart from her hand, and headed to the front of the train.

”You better not follow me; it’s stormy tonight, might sweep you away.”

The Lao San brothers hurriedly retreated, sweating profusely but pale-faced.

Clearly, they too saw the scene under the bridge.

As Lao San passed by, he grabbed Su Huan, ”Old Fourth, what are you doing?”

Su Huan turned his head slightly, watching the white python winding up the bridge’s pillar in the distance, his mouth widening to reveal sharp white teeth.

”Fighting for the dragon!”
