Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 54: Chapter 53: Track Switching Escape

Under the dim night light, passengers crowded together anxiously, listening to the layers of zombie howls outside, each crash heavier than the last. Some were already regretting boarding this train.

The smell of sweat, blood, and the stench of decay wafting in through the shattered windows mixed into a putrid abyss.

And those pairs of scarlet eyes were the demons coming to drag them away.

”Buzz...”

The carriage suddenly brightened up.

A group of people walked over from the far end, the young man at the front always had a faint smile on his face, like Dante walking through hell.

Calmly and indifferently, he observed everything around him.

”Snap!”

Su Huan snapped his fingers and smiled, ”I am the conductor of the armed train. You can call me Su Huan, or privately just call me by my last name. I don’t want to say much now; in three days, you’ll find that boarding the armed train was the best decision of your life.”

”Rest well; the road ahead is still long.”

Everyone exchanged glances; who dared to sleep in this situation, and who could even manage to fall asleep?

After Su Huan finished speaking, he paid no attention to the passengers’ reactions and led a few people straight ahead.

Old passengers made way, while new passengers, although unaware of why this young man was fearsome, followed others to step aside.

The three brothers followed behind, playing the role of guards.

As the group passed, the car behind fell into darkness once again.

”Lao San, how many guns and ammo do we have on the train?” Su Huan asked.

”We have only two Law Enforcer S1 tactical pistols, two Hummingbird-9 submachine guns, one Iron Curtain-A3 assault rifle, one Night Owl-X7 sniper rifle, and except for the sniper rifle which uses armor-piercing bullets, the rest are standard bullets, total three boxes.” Lao San scratched his head and said.

”You know quite a bit, military-trained?”

”Nonsense, what man doesn’t know guns, especially the standard equipment of the Law Enforcement Team, they’re seen all the time.” Su Huan chuckled lightly, ”Two submachine guns and one rifle for your brothers, defensive responsibilities of the train, no problem?”

Lao San didn’t answer immediately but instead took out a cigarette from his chest, lit it, and took it in his mouth, walking past two train cars, the cigarette just reached the end.

With one breath, he exhaled all the smoke from his lungs, spat out the butt, ”I want crab stew with tofu!”

”Okay!”

...

Piercing beams of snow-white light cut through the sticky night like the sword of judgment, the armed train rumbled like thunder, crushing the zombies blocking the tracks.

The zombie horde surged like black asphalt from all directions, bony spines forming a wave of corpses under the headlights, squeezed to the sides of the tracks by the ramming horns.

The steel behemoth emitted a deafening whistle amidst the steam and flesh intertwined mist, like the furious roar of a giant beast.

The red glow on the dashboard of the cockpit stained Liang Kuan’s pupils blood-red.

Suddenly, a hand rested on his shoulder, a calm voice sounded from behind, ”We’re approaching South Station, right?”

Upon hearing this voice, Liang Kuan’s tense nerves relaxed a bit, ”The zombies are increasing; there must be trains occupying the line at the platform, but we can’t stop.”

”Why stop?”

”Although our train is heavy, if we hit another train, we’ll definitely derail, which is worse than falling into a zombie horde directly.”

Liang Kuan’s hand already rested on the control lever.

Su Huan smiled, ”Isn’t there still Xiaoba?”

The boy sat silently in the corner of the cockpit, seemingly blending into the darkness.

Liang Kuan said in a deep voice, ”Xiaoba’s metal control is strong, but an empty carriage weighs at least several tens of tons, Xiaoba can’t move it...”

Su Huan raised an eyebrow, ”Who said I want to move the train? If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain, it’s simple.”

Seeing his confident look, Liang Kuan steeled his heart and pushed the speed to the maximum!

Feeling the engine’s struggling vibrations underfoot, Su Huan squinted his eyes, channeling energy to the extreme, infusing evenly into the train’s head and the other four hydrogen-powered train engines.

The railings on both sides turned into thick buildings.

The packed zombies clogged the tracks, with more zombies charging off the platform, and in a breath, the tracks could no longer be seen from the cockpit.

The armed train seemed to enter a mass grave!

The ramming horns and steel shovels served excellently, as the train, aided by brutal power, navigated a bloody river in the zombie tide like a ferry on the Nether Bridge.

Soon, the train parked on the edge of the platform came into view.

”Xiaoba, move the track ahead, change tracks!”

Su Huan stared at the approaching train, his eyes flickering with a certain light.

”Bang bang bang!”

Bolts on the track flew out one by one, and the heavy track, as if bent by an invisible hand, pressed onto the adjacent empty track.

”Boom——”

The armed train slithered past the parked train like a nimble dragon.

Witnessing this, Liang Kuan exhaled a long breath.

”Now, is everything okay?”

Su Huan asked indifferently.

”In two hours, we’ll be out of Mojiang City!”

Liang Kuan said resolutely.

As long as no other train blocks the way, nothing can stop the over 4,000-tonne steel beast from breaking free.

Su Huan handed ten Pan-energy Crystals to Xiaoba beside him.

”Absorb them one by one, then use this energy to stimulate your ability. Once these crystals are absorbed, your skills will upgrade to level 2. You guys take over, I’m going to eat.”

Xiaoba glanced at Su Huan in surprise, silently nodding.

Although zombies continued to smash into the train’s head, Su Huan had already left.

After a long while, Qi Xiaobai’s voice suddenly rang, ”There should be something else happening tonight.”

Liang Kuan, driving the train, was briefly puzzled, ”We have to pass through Mojiang City, who knows how many zombies we’ll encounter...”

”No, it should be something more important than the zombie tide.”

”How do you know?”

”He only undertakes the most dangerous tasks himself.”

In his heart, Liang Kuan sighed softly because he wouldn’t entrust his life to anyone else.

...

When Su Huan returned to the dining car, the pot on the induction cooker still kept the crab stew warm, its gurgling sound was drowned out by the muffled noises echoing over the carriage.

Huang Hai and the young man sat on the ground beside them, with the three brothers seated on chairs.

Seeing Su Huan, everyone quickly got up.

Su Huan glanced over their faces, clicking his tongue lightly, ”I don’t care about these things, from now on we’re all on the same side.”

Beside him, Wan Xing tiredly handed over a Tier One Pan-energy Crystal.

This was the result of a rushed afternoon’s work.

”Good,” Su Huan responded, pocketing the crystal, ”Let’s eat.”

Yu Yue hurriedly brought the pot up beside them.

Serving a bowl of overflowing rice in front of him.

Aligning his chopsticks, Su Huan extended them halfway, pausing in mid-air.

”Aren’t you going to eat?”
